Hartlebury, I hope your young daughter is on the mend now? Long covid is a strange and scary phenomenon that seems to produce so many differing symptoms. I know a couple of people with lingering long term effects, including one with heart issues. I am aware that the home tests do not require a deep insertion into the nostril but my boy is adamant that we can't do it. I hope I haven't inadvertently started a phobia! We won't push it for now but I don't doubt that in time one or more tests might become necessary. I hope your daughter is feeling much better now and that she doesn't suffer the ongoing effects of long covid into the future. Very best wishes, take care.
Airlineboy my 12yo daughter had long covid last year, during the course of which she had a covid test at hospital. She has also been very upset at having to repeat it but the tests for schools instruct 2cm inside nostril, not the ‘old’ method of seemingly right up into brain! Still not fun but much less unpleasant - HTH
Wilson, stay strong, stay brave. I have no doubt you will have amazing medical teams looking after you. Take good care and very best wishes. Dylan sends you a get well hug!
Getting nervous for Monday but laughing and joking to the family:))
How are you doing Wilson?
Good to see active trials still taking place for Covid, when I was having my bloods taken yesterday there was a copd trial for Sng prominently displayed and I confirmed it was still ongoing, this may be of interest to dual holders(I don't hold).
troublesome - School mass testing : IMO, mainly a PR exercise with no compulsion from Govt just great expectations.

Tend to agree. I confess I was all in favour and had test supplies delivered but I've decided we will not be using them. My big, brave Dillionaire is really stressed about needing to have the swab put up his nose. My fault as I was a tad over enthusiastic when we had to test some weeks ago and he reckons I poked it up too far. I knew he wouldn't willingly let me assist him again but he won't let his mum do it either! It's not worth the angst or tears. If I knew the tests were heading towards being 100% accurate I'd persevere but they aren't and I do feel it is a vanity project. So for now my Paw Patrol hero doesn't need to have them! I am thinking of sending him up to Watchmoor Park, Camberley for some undercover pint sized sleuthing! I lived for 20 years literally just round the corner from there! I'd be interested to know what is going on down there!! Have a great weekend everyone.
Yes Junior but it's the weekend and time to chill perhaps - just supporting comment from troublesome and some might agree there are folk with somewhat mental issues on this b.b. :) Enjoy the sunshine and fresh air!
Agreed. However this is the NCYT forum.
Prior to Covid, treatment delays for mental health issues was an absolute disgrace with many children unable to even get on waiting lists which were so long. This whole area was even then grossly underfunded and ill equipped so what with Covid, another disaster is in the making not only for children but adults also.
School mass testing :
IMO, mainly a PR exercise with no compulsion from Govt just great expectations.
If things go awry, they then have ready made scapegoats so see it politically, as a no lose situation.
It sickening to see certain ministers continually pretending they are concerned about the mental health of our children and increasing inequalities and opportunities in the future.
Discussion about school LFT which showed positive despite pupil dilugently following rules. Forced to miss school. Parents unhappy so organised PCR test showing negative. Good discussion then about unreliability of LFT with Prof Sheila Bird who said this tiny example would mean 24000 pupils over country would be unfairly kept at home. She is clearly a fan of PCR Good standard testing and said she thought there was enough equipment over country to carry this out. She is unconvinced parents will be diligent enough to test children at home twice a week. Message still not getting through to this blinkered govt.
