For any reason these shares are toast judging by the amount of selling -- and who would blame investors ? Rather than wait for another 5p and be locked out of your money till the payout happens while running the risk of Tynwald getting involved you'd be wise to take the 2.15p and invest it somewhere else.

The hidden jewel is Goshawk. My guess is that it's hard of hearing product has done well in its beta test in IoM. Private equity vultures have got in quick before its value is widely seen.See below on this thread. Founder of Goshawk has significant shareholding (25 or 30% from memory). PE guys will push Goshawk like fury and then sell Goshawk to a major telecoms player for a huge capital profit and founder will cash in very well. That's great for him. He has spent many years on this development - so he earns his reward. But it's really galling for the smaller private shareholder - the Board is folding too quickly. All this is surmise of course - could be completely up the wrong tree.

They might need to up the offer to get enough shares for automatic purchase.
I read that this morning -- what was Lamb thinking?

Although this gives me a good profit on my shares I'd rather they turn down the offer it's nowhere near enough money -- where I'm I going to find this type of stock again ? -- I want £3 a share for this to compensate me for losing such a nice dividend payer. GRRRrrrr!

Peel Hunt says offer undervalues the company.
agree it seems light....I bought in quite recently so made a good profit but feel cheesed off.....maybe someone else will throw a spanner in the works, hope so.
Excellent post i share your thoughts entirely.
For what its worth I will also vote against.
The offer will no doubt go through but I will vote against it for sure.
Price 3 years ago was £2.20 (and has been £1.95 this year) - meanwhile it's chugged along - now it's shown signs of coming to life and growth prospects - hey presto a bid vehicle arrives!
Whilst we have had decent dividends along the way - the respect for small shareholders is once again ignored.
Bid should be £2.50 at least....I will have to find another supposed dependable decent dividender!

Yes, but not particularly reflected in share price where there has been long term decline. I tend to think that new developments are likely to come from the mobile phone manufacturing companies looking for a competitive edge who are desperate to integrate new features and who also have the funds for development. There may still however be room to successfully market a niche application and I wish them well.
I would imagine it would be licensed out with some kind of fee per year maybe depending on usage.
We will have to see.
It won't be free though, maybe customer's will pay for this kind of thing also.
If it means they can use a phone it must be worth something to them.
Seems that the Goshawk product to improve mobile usage for the hard of hearing might be significant. Its being heavily promoted in beta test on IoM and supposed to be rolled out with partners in UK generally in mid 2019.
I cant see any indication of how this is supposed to be monetised, although Manx Telecom clearly expect it to be significant. Anyone have any fuller understanding?

The market may still be spooked by Standard Life's sale of 2% of the company. As far as I can see, nothing has really changed with the company itself and the shares are excellent value at the price. But I've been saying that all the way down from 175, so the advice comes with a health warning.
Seems like the CEO reduced his holding at the right time, another long-time low reached yesterday. Any thoughts on what is going on here?

I wonder if Goshawk/MT clear is the reason for the interest
May be that volume bought is presently around 4 times volume sold, although I often see prices going the opposite way to what market forces might suggest!
but very surprised to see this moving north ex divi

Solid results and increasing dividend trend -- put my money where my mouth is and bought a load more yesterday.
Not bad ,pretty solid.
Notice no indication on LSE for RNS today.
There are two.
One for goshawk and a BT contract.

Might have something to to with more companies being able to use their carrier. 3 feel at home now has IOM as one of their 'feel at home' destinations so instead of having to purchase a sure or Manx Telecom sim your provider allows you to make phone calls at no extra cost when visiting IOM although I'm sure Manx Telecom are paid by the providers for the privilege. Can't really see why there should such a large discount to the sp at the present.
I agree. The dividend is very attractive so long as capital can be kept reasonably intact! - there has been decline over the past 2 years, reaching the present lows, and there are undoubtedly good reasons for this but they are always difficult to determine. Next results are due on 12 September. I was tempted to purchase late yesterday to average down my BP but decided to hold off while the price still appears to be weakening. An interesting company with reliable earnings but perhaps rather small to be of takeover interest and scope for expansion must be limited within the IoM. Also, the telecoms sector in general is so competitive - look at the variation in share price of TalkTalk over the period.
Seems strange, trading update was positive as far as I could see, divi looks safe, with potential for growth in both Global Solutions and Data Centre. I bought in today for the divi at a 5 year low price with that potential for growth. Some larger Buys and Sells going through so perhaps some institutional investors shuffling holdings?
Any views on the recent weakness?

Yeah i think it looks a fairly steady bet with the div and improving fundamental outlook. Usually like to go for higher risk speculative very low cap shares but potential here for decent returns with moderate sp growth and dividend yields.
Had a quick look, Dividend is up, data center should return to growth. Sounds good to me. A very good solid dividend payer and I'm happy to hold

If the stuff was good - it might seem the crime of the century ;)
£200 quids worth of cannabis (allegedly!) hardly the crime of the century.. stupid though.
RNS today probably explains the fall last week .... insider knowledge .... one suspects.

Summer doldrums, institution bailing some shares, and MMs looking to tree shake .... waiting for 160 myself :)
Not invested here but based in IOM. I wondered if it's connected to issues over roaming. Vodafone et al have allowed free roaming in the Isle of Man on their contracts (linked to wider changes in EU rules). Manx Telecom have I think had to follow suit by reducing their UK roaming charges generally by 90% and offering improved tariffs for roaming as otherwise it potentially made sense for IoM residents to get uk contracts.
Can anyone explain the recent price weakness.... against the general trend of the main indices?
