Spotted a couple of trades today for 1 share. Will we see an RNS on Monday?
Well the Apple update was something of a none event. However we are steadily losing about 1p a day over the last 2 months, so at this rate in 4 months time the SP will be at zero. Congratulations to the management team!!!
Well if Laird's fortunes are so intrinsically linked to Apple's fortune as recently commented on here and it would appear by negative speculators following the leaked rumour about the iPhone X. Well read this new article.......Apple overall sales are still growing at 10%...so this should still be good for Laird despite what the rumour mongers are peddling..... When it comes to predictions for 2018, most financial analysts agree on one thing: one tech firm is likely to become America’s first ever trillion dollar company. The question is: which one will it be? On Thursday, we’ll get a big clue as to who might hit that incredible milestone first, as the three biggest tech giants in the US release their latest results. Could it be Apple? That largely depends on its latest and supposedly greatest smartphone, the iPhone X. If sales are strong - and they'll need to be very strong - Apple’s value will hurtle towards a trillion dollars in no time at all. With a higher price tag - $999 - the iPhone X wouldn't need to break sales records in order to draw record profits, and convince investors Apple still has the ability to bring innovation to its biggest product line by far. But there have been reports lately that suggested Apple could cut its production targets for the device by almost half. That’s not what investors wanted to hear. Still, even if iPhone X sales are modest, the company is still expected to report revenue growth of more than 10%. That would put it nicely on track to hit a market value of $1tn by the end of the year.
If there was anything of substance, one would expect Laird management to explain to the market why the shares have fallen so much. I believe it is a stock exchange requirement they must do it. Cant understand that after 160 to 180p Nomads expectations, why have the shares tanked. Directors are not buying and I wonder if a hedge fund is offloading but there are no large trades so far. I suppose we can only sit tight till 01/03/2018 for final results unless Q4 trading performance is given next week.
Well surprise surprise, Apple shares trading higher today at $168 and still up over 50% in 12 months only 6% off their 2017 record high of $180...so no idea why traders have hammered Laird???
Just reading the leaked article on Apple regarding the i-phone x. Well typically only half the story has been told. It would appear if the rumour is true that the new i-phone x will now be 20million handsets per quarter but the main sellers will continue at current production levels..... The Nikkei report says that the company will maintain its existing production target of 30 million units for those two phones and the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8..so as a total of Lairds overall output it represents a small amount. Considering Apple itself has only reacted by about 1% . It would appear opportunist are at play again...lol
The SP plunged last week not on Monday. Laird isn't solely reliant on Apple. This just confirms leaking of information to insiders before official notification to the market. Commonly known as insider trading.
Think Porridgeoats is right. Apple are halving iPhone X production and have told suppliers (including LRD) it has cut its production target from 40 million units to 20 million, the Nikkei reported Monday. As a result, Newton's law of gravity has affected not just Apple sp but LRD et al.
............or maybe we've got this conspiracy theory wrong and the Laird management are going to stick with their Q3 guidance of profits being at "the top end of expectations" and future prospects being good with cost savings all going to plan etc....
I agree, elected criminals overseeing financial criminals and business criminals (too many companies to list)...So we can assume that someone has leaked Q4 and year end results to insiders, who have responded with transacting the SP down from 145p to 125p in little over a week without any official guidance from brokers or Laird management. No fundamental change in trading environment that relates to the drop. Just a case of holding on for the ride and wait for SP to recover.
moniman, Unfortunately, UK governance is quite weak and lots of people probably get away with it. Look at our politicians taking consultancy fees (a bung really) to feed Brexit information to the Chinese at 6000 a day.. Will they be charged, surely not
I doubt it, Laird have been dropping quite rapidly over the past couple of weeks. It's leaking info ahead of Q4 imho. Maybe there's a mole in their accounting firm or someone dodgy on management team??
Apple has dropped a lot today. They are a big Laird customer I believe. Perhaps thats related?
Alternatively, buying opportunity ? Technically, looks oversold.
My reason is big movement in SP despite no change in positive outlook from Q3 statement or trading conditions or brokers reports being negative so would indicate that someone is leaking something to do with results/Q4
I meant 01/03 is final Results but Q4 update should have been scheduled around 01/02 IE a month before final results which is a ''purdah' period for Directors.
moniman, what is your logic of insider trading?? Such a huge drop and no explanations or denial of any reasons from Directors is a surprise. Generally, the Directors should indicate reasons or tell the Stock market there is no reason for a fall. 01/02/2018 is final results but they should give 4th quarter update around 01/02 although this is not indicated anywhere.
Q4 Thursday 1/3. Find out more then.
So from 165 post 3rd qtr positive results and good outlook statement now almost straight line down to 125 without any news from management. Beggars belief, if there is some fundamental change to be announced about results despite no warnings, then clearly a case of insider trading, which by the way is illegal and carries a lengthy prison sentence!
It was definitely £3
Rumours (?) ...we can but dream
Or was it 250p.....
i heard it was 225p ...
Is it true that there's a 200p hostile offer in the wings??? Lots of rumours around???
Well I can only assume the management are leaking news or they don't give a sh#t about the SP?
