The case for Special divi's
Thanks to the buyback program, Share in circulation has dropped below 63.5bn
2023 final 1.84 + 2024 interim 0.92 = total 2.76p x ~63.5bn = ~£1.75bn
2024 = Buyback £2bn
£1.75bn divis + £2bn buybacks = ~£3.75bn
Lloy 2023 Post Tax Profit ~£5.5bn
C'mon Lloy - it's time to address the Divi v Buybacks imbalance - Restart the 'Special Divi's'

Lloyds made additional investments in the year of £1.3 Billion and an additional
£250 million into the pension scheme, so no good simply looking at net profits minus
shareholder returns thinking that the difference could be paid out with a 'special' dividend

''Thanks for letting me know the March update is missing - seems the list is getting too long for the page''
ffs - why on earth do you need to show a monthly difference in shares in issue.

LTI - Many might think 'a disappointing reduction' - but how many more than 72bn would there be if the buybacks hadn't happened?
As the SP rises, Might it become uneconomical?
A1
uneconomical? -
I would say that removing shares that would otherwise be entitled to double digit returns as being a good investment.
Without buybacks there would be about 76.1 Billion shares in issue.
The share price would need to be close to 60p now to get to the Jan 2022 market cap.
The 2018 buyback was conducted at an average price of 63p with Billions more shares in issue
Without buybacks there would be about 76.1 Billion shares in issue.
Based on the current market cap with those numbers of shares in issue the current share price would be about 44.68 p

''Total Voting Rights''
again why?
The figure is shown every month on an RNS.
Lti
Yes the figure is shown every month on an RNS. But A1's posts at a glance give an insight into the long term trend of the share count which is useful for gauging the effectiveness of buyback's over the years. If A1 did not make these posts then others would have to trawl back through all the RNS's individually to collate the figures. Many on this board appreciate not having to do that through the information in A1's posts.

''But A1's posts at a glance give an insight into the long term trend of the share count which is useful for gauging the effectiveness of buyback's over the years. ''
Historical share count trends can be found very quickly for anyone interested at any time they wish - a regular long list on here is not necessary in my view, and in any case I believe that all but the most stupid would know that the trend is down when buybacks are a policy and in operation.
Also the figures do not gauge the direct effectiveness of buyback programmes.
The effectiveness of the buybacks can be found in posts that I make when necessary.
historical share counts
https://www.statista.com/statistics/474455/uk-lloyds-banking-group-number-of-shares-in-issue/
Without buybacks there would be 76,651,704,843 shares in issues having bought back so far a total of 13,768,619,893

Equity share dilution resulting from the 2008 financial crash has not been addressed sufficiently yet.
Free float number of existing shares trading on the open market is still far to high increasing the risk of market volatility for the stock and at times makes uncomfortable reading for a lot of investors and pension fund managers.
