QuantumScape has leapt ahead of this on the tech now imo. George Soros, backed this a couple of days ago with hundreds of millions of Dollars.....on top of those already in place from VW and Bill Gates. I think they have too much muscle now not to dominate this space. Money does talk....
We'll see but the Brits usually come up trumps in the quality department stereax ramping up .
i'll back this and you QuantumScape and am quite happy to do so + bigger return no bubble ( yet).
So hard to know. There is so much competition now and maybe some consolidation eventually........
Does seem like Ilika is getting caught napping!
"EV-Battery Startup QuantumScape Soars on Tech Breakthrough - Bloomberg" https://www.bloomberg.com/news/videos/2021-02-19/ev-battery-startup-quantumscape-soars-on-tech-breakthrough-video
I think those two director sells have killed all the fun here. It’s not that they are not getting paid or anything. Anyway hopefully we will get some solid news soon to drive the company forward
GL
The director 6.5K sells were possibly to buy the 20K and pay any taxes?
May be you are right, hopefully with further news the SP will rise again. Considering what's happening in the whole EV eco system, the SP should have gone higher, we all have to have patience I suppose.

IKA has gone up over 17 times in just over 2 years. So just give it more a bit more.
IMO the larger EV battery market has a lot of players to compete with such as Quantumscape. However it’s the micro Stereax battery at Ilika that excites me and where there is much less competition and where I see Ilika becoming world leaders. That’s why I am invested here.
I think going up against QS and VW is a big ask and i dont believe that IKA will be able to get the capital. However I do believe the future is in Stereax batteries, they excite me.
Yes QS is burning through cash at a prodigious rate but the 'breakthrough' on 19th Feb has not done much for their SP which has moved pretty much sideways. Very 'hippie' of me but am still inclined to think that small is beautiful. GLA. DYOR.
It’s a nice thought but I don’t think Quantumscape are short of cash and this is a race
It may be a race, of sorts, but there won’t be just one winner. Just as there are plenty of conventional lithium ev battery producers currently there will be plenty of solid state battery producers. The first to market will do well but will not take all.
Whilst I agree with the main thrust of your post, that having more money doesn't suddenly mean that QuantumScape's tech is ahead of Ilika's, I am feeling pedantic enough to point out that Ilika batteries are still basically Lithium-ion ones but in solid-state form with the advantages that brings.
Johnnie asks…”I'd be interested to know what info you have on the current status of ilikas tech that enables comparison between their tech and QS?”
Notbot says… “ I am feeling pedantic enough to point out that Ilika batteries are still basically Lithium-ion ones but in solid-state form”
“The difference comes with the choice of materials and the design of the cells,” says Graeme Purdy. “Other players in the field of solid-state batteries have chosen to use lithium metal anodes, whereas we use a silicon anode. Some of our rivals use sulphur-based electrolytes, whereas we use a ceramic oxide. We come from a different starting point which has enabled us to develop robust, well-functioning miniature solid state batteries that we are scaling up for larger applications such as cars.”
Nice summary, make sure you tweet it

Quantumscape released its performance data only recently, after years of development work, including real-world collaboration with VW..

Ilika seems to have been concentrating resources on Stereax. Preliminary development work on Goliath is proceeding but OEM collaborators are still being sought. Specifications are published only as general target features with no performance data.
https://www.ilika.com/battery-innovation/goliath
“Whilst we are going through the early stages of R&D, w are working with OEM willing to engage with us at an early stage to guide our development, either through direct engagement or via funded grants. If you’re interested in joining our development ecosystem contact us now at info@ilika.com”
Conclusion: Ilika is some way behind Quantumscape in EV battery development, so the product performance metrics cannot yet be compared.
Hi Johnnie
I agree with you. The reason I am in (apart from Stereax, of course) is that I have high hopes that the work we are doing with JLR and Honda will soon result in closer formal collaboration and investment. Honda have declared their wish to use a British battery and JLR is literally just over the road from where we will be at UKBIC.
It is quite possible that the materials used by QS will limit their ability to improve further on their charging time, cost and possibly weight. With their different battery materials I believe IKA has the greater potential to go further on these characteristics.

and this is what the American investors were/are thinking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUrZZG0Ewdk
They should consider listing in NASDAQ to experience the real rise lol

Thanks neon –much appreciated.
