Nice strong finish. Hopefully the same push north tomorrow.
Bound to be some profit taking.
It's looking pretty good. Just need Bank of England to start playing nice in the next few months. They have to keep up the facade of keeping rates up but they will have little choice but to follow the Fed in 2024.
Good morning Sneedway. We need some positivity that interest rates are starting to stabilise and construction will get going. Happy days. Good luck with your investments.
Can we break £1.50 today?
Great momentum this last week or so. Currently 11% down on holdings.
Never mind interest rates chaps. What we need is a noise from govt about a house building programme 1960's style then we will rock
Will need a bit more time before moving higher.
RSI went over 70 (overbought) so it's surprising it hasn't finished 2-4% down on Friday. Technical analysis is a bit astrology like but if I had to bet I'd say it will retrace a bit for most of next week. RSI is pretty reliable for the short term compared to other indicators. Never a smooth ride up (or down).
NalaKapala1...now that would be a game changer. You never know with lack of housing.
Sneedway, let's hope it's wrong. Not much into charting myself, but it's good to hear from someone like yourself who's clued up.
You are correct not to pay too much attention to charting. It's just helpful to contextualize short term movemement sometimes.. I was looking at a paypal stock chat on yahoo the other day (got a position at $52) and everybody was saying it's over because it retraced to 61s after going over 63.
Very normal for this to happen in any stock in whichever direction it's heading.
know nowt about charting - its always seemed a load of old ****** to me - though obviously some folk are into it big time and swear by it but if they predicted a retrace then so far my view appears to be correct because we are now higher than we have been since august.
my tea leaves tell that there will be a retrace at some point and that that is more likely to be next year rather than this. tetley's for those wanting to know my secret.
"Tetleys" I'll have a pint please........ oohps wrong Tetleys.!!
No problem rhino they are both as useful for predicting the future. By the way my records tell me that this time last year at the xmas break we were 151.7 so the 8.9 p divi is a 7.2p profit :-) so the year has not been a total waste.
I personally don't think we'll have much of a re-trace with talk of interest rate coming down and inflation dropping, also the new atlas factory coming on stream. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Daft as it sounds I actually think IBST has done quite well considering. Apart from the normal ups and downs I think we have had the big retrace. IR wont be going up even if they dont come down (which they are likely to). Most estate agents are reporting better than expected house sales and which ever angle you look at it from England is overcrowded and in desperate need of an increased housing stock. My opinion is that it will take another major negative event to halt a fairly sustained rise next year - even the usual useless Labour govt cant be more useless than this one and in any event they are unlikely to damage house building. I added to my holding recently in anticipation - thats the only blot on the horizon :-)
I think we're looking good for a rise in the share price if we keep on the right track.
I'm optimistic here as well. Mortgage rates are calming down and rate cuts in 2024 are a given despite Bank of England trying to play tough. Huge migration fuels the shortage of houses which buoys prices.
Labour policy on deregulating housing and bringing in new towns can only be good for this company as well.
I look at these as lottery tickets. They're not going to stay at this price for much longer when sentiment changes with interest rates, and the construction industry. Golden tickets....get in while you can. It's the January sales!
I suspect these are more valuable than lottery tickets though I still buy one most Saturdays - you never know. I reckon I will still be doing so when these are about £20 :-)
NalaKapala1, don't blame you. Me also. Let's hope for a good year to come. Good luck with your investments. All the best.
Having a red day at the moment. The whole market is. No reason. Had a blue day yesterday so it fancied a red one today. I have always found it strange how market sentiment just ebbs and flows for no reason - just sentiment based on the faintest of breezes
Thin market today most peeps still of work
Wasnt yesterday and more people were off !
Being in the construction industry myself for over 40 odd years, I'm seeing more positivity with all talks about interest rates stabilising, and maybe dropping. Seen it many times. Keep hold of your shares. We should see sentiment changing in the coming year.
