Dan Yergin on oil, but also the wider effects. Imho the markets still don't reflect the economic damage. In oil, even when Russia/KSa kiss and make up, the landscape has for a long time.

No lies, fibs, or porkies. Not necessary. Nothing to garner. Honest injun..
I am not welded to this computer.
It's for my convenience, as and when.
I think someone on the 'Seawell' must have been a bit hasty punching the destination into the AIS. Looks like she may be over 'our' Halifax, after all, and not the one in California.
'Basket-Case'
" Yes, I do the 2 miles in 27-28 minutes."
Hey! You posted your message about going out for your run at 11:27.
And you're now back, posting at 12:59. After your run, dragging your missus along, who someone says is 109 years old?
I suspect there's some 'economy of truth' going on.

A2UK - Yes, I do the 2 miles in 27-28 minutes. And that's with a new titanium knee(2012) and polyethylene kneecap. Also, a pacemaker for Cardiomyopathy. No pack - just a stick for peoples' over protective e dogs. Today is the first time I have allowed 'my lovely wife' to come along. Not going to become a habit. I like the solitude, to think. Takes my mind off HUR as well. £100K under water.
HUR was supposed to be 500p by now?
What went wrong, she asks? Ha, Ha, is my sheepish reply.
"There is no specific treatment, cure, or vaccine for hantavirus infection."
Good. Hope the guy who died from it on a bus in China passed it on to others.
Hantavirus – mortality rate 38 per cent
Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome is a severe and sometimes fatal respiratory disease. People become infected with it through contact with hantavirus-infected rodents or their urine and droppings. According to the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 600 people have contracted the virus in the United States, and 38 per cent have died from the disease.
Early symptoms include fatigue, fever and muscle aches, especially in the large muscle groups. Later symptoms include coughing and shortness of breath as the lungs fill with fluid.
There is no specific treatment, cure, or vaccine for hantavirus infection.
Yes and she's 109.
daltry,
a 2-mile 'speed-walk'? For a man of your age? You must have a good dealer. And taking the missus along? Remember to stay at least two meters apart...
A2UK - you may address me as you wish.... I have little feeling left.
Like most things, and topics, on this chat board, protruding nails will be hammered.
I'm now off for my daily 2 mile speed walk. Except, this time, 'her indoors' is coming, which means her arm in mine, like dragging a ball & chain along. We do suffer, us men....BiBi
'Longwait',
"And in future, Double, I expect to be referred to as plain LONGWAIT. Pas de virgules inversées, s'il vous plaît!"
Your wish is my command, oh Dread Liege.
Those of us who are still holding all our HUR shares, without having top sliced, are all basket cases, Double.
May I offer an explanation for Daltry's considerable longevity?
He may have been in a deep freeze previously, but mistakenly set the timer to defreeze several decades later than intended.
I myself got frostbite, which is my excuse for being online and commenting so often - the other being an AIM anxiety neurosis.
And in future, Double, I expect to be referred to as plain LONGWAIT.
Pas de virgules inversées, s'il vous plaît!
daltry,
"Back into my basket !"
You hadn't told us about this. 'Longwait' has already explained about the deep-freeze he inhabits (though seems to emerge from it frequently, of late), but we didn't know about your basket. Is it one of those big wickerwork hamper-like 19th-century ones that posh families might take for a picnic, or what? Given your 103 years, it might be possible. But also, taking your age into consideration, isn't climbing in and out of it a bit wearisome?
May we now address you as 'basket-case'?
JoeSoap,
"The best metric is what is the variation in undertakers workload"
Brilliant.
Did you miss this one LW?

But I'm simply reminded of the lies, damned lies and statistics.
The best metric is what is the variation in undertakers workload , jimo.
"As Basil Fawlty would say, 'I'd say Corona Virus is pretty fatal - wouldn't you?"
Being alive is ultimately a fatal condition, seemingly.
'A passenger who died on a bus in China has tested positive for a completely different virus than COVID-19 — one more fatal that often produces very similar symptoms, according to state-run media.'
More fatal?
As Basil Fawlty would say, 'I'd say Corona Virus is pretty fatal - wouldn't you?'
PTS .... blimey
Back into my basket !
Compare number of icu beds in Germany to the UK and it says a lot.
Good points, jh and JAdam, although I had seen them raised in articles online.
I'm wondering how a death of someone who had tested positive for the virus but died of something else is going to be categorised; it can't be under 'total deaths' nor under 'recovered.'
I would also point out that there have been cases recently of people without symptoms testing positive.
If only people with symptoms are tested, then others could be missed.
I dunno but what's it got to do with hurricane ?
just thought I'd get that in quickly before the forums gatekeeper arrives :)
daltry,
Everything that happens in China seems to go viral.
JAdam - they are not crazy, there are models, which are essential, or you don't know what's coming along, if you don't know what's coming along, you can't plan. The models are complex, with many variables, the one from Imperial was the game changer for this government, it signaled the move away from HI. That's too simplistic a comment.
