if you are talking about our friends from SER you are absolutely right. Totally ridiculous to keep arguing every day. I know some people have lost fortunes in there so keep hanging on in hope that something will be salvaged from the ruins, but that share is the best example of how rampers can ruin a lot of people's lives. Hope I have saved some by trying over the years to create some balance and in some cases begged people to open their eyes to the fact. I tend to focus on where there is a future and a very good one like HRG. A bit of profit taking today which is starnge considering holders at the end of play tomorrow are in for the interim dividend Hope you are doing well, trust I will s ee you around
Again today 76p this is such a good share. Historically it has always had a good December hoping this is the best one ever.
Best volumes here for a long time this is going to fly past 80p and onwards and upwards towards 100p
Best volumes here for a long time this is going to fly past 80p and onwards and upwards towards 100p
some good volumes - looks like we might even get to 80p this week GLA
didn't dare write anything last week as I didn't want to jinx this but now the results are out I can breath again and celebrate an around 20% increase in SP. Hold quiet a few of these so 20% is a lot of money. the results were more than solid in every area and the cost reductions outlined for the next few years promise very well for the future. Obviously we still hope that one of the stalkers will come in and get the SP over 100, in the meantime would love to see 80 in the next few weeks or months.
Here are a few details I have picked out from the results. Hogg Robinson group delivered a good first-half performance in line with expectations. Our revenue was down a little less than 1% on a constant currency basis. Underlying operating profit margin was up from 10.8% to 12.3%. Reported profit before tax was up 26%. Revenue for HRG during the period was down by just over 1% while underlying operating profit was up 10%, both at constant currency. The travel management business share of group underlying operating profit was also up by 0.1% at 87.0%. The business witnessed ongoing recovery in the UK market with signs of improvement across Continental Europe. There was a modest slowdown in North America and weakness in Australia, as anticipated as a result of the ongoing domestic economy. A number of clients in the Energy & Marine sector have sought our help in reducing their costs as they seek to ride out the challenges brought by the lower oil price. We continue to see growth in the Meetings, Groups & Events (MGE) division with new wins during the period including Aggregate Industries and Eversheds. We have also retained the Ministry of Defence as a client in the UK. We continue to operate a progressive dividend policy. The board has declared an interim dividend of 0.68p per share, up 8% on the interim payment a year ago. This dividend will be paid on 4 January 2016 to shareholders on the register at the close of play on 4 December 2015.
70p broken and should stay broken with these results. HRG is a great share and should start heading toward the 100p mark very soon.
@Jerry76 - well the 70p has been broken nicely today- here's to a good trading update tomorrow and a march back to above 100p in coming weeks - who knows maybe one of the stalking horses will pounce GLA
I think we are heading for a new year high - IMHO MM must be hearing the right noises about the interims - obviously there are a couple of potential stalking horses out there as well who could further up their holding - at these levels 100p is not insurmountable in the near term
I am seeing a live price of 69.50p now hopefully we can break 70p. I see the 6 month results are due out on Wednesday so hopefully good news is coming.
....starting to look like the next leg up is coming, some nice rises off the back of what look like buys - perhaps someone is building their stake ?
frustrated with this share at the moment seem to have a stalemate on our hands was hoping to be settled in the high 70's by now.
That situation of course affects all german (and possibly other ) car manufactors ,but as you say it shouldn't necessary mean less travel , on the contrary as they need to explore new markets etc. Germany is anyway one of the weakest markets in the HRG group. Luckily we are now on the way back up again in line with the market . Once the market is back we would be up to 70 again and hopefully we can then start seeing a move towards the real value of this company which must be close to 100. got a few years left to my retirement and relying on HRG reaching that level to make the retirement time even sweeter.
A friend of a friend believes VW Group is an HRG client, although what impact on travel is unknown. It might even spur them to travel more. However, one client doth not make a business. Let's see if they pop back up when the market does.
I think it has dropped inline with the overall market which has dropped about 15%, have not heard anything that should cause any worries otherwise. I am not sure if HRG services VW or any of the other car companies but that wont affect it anyway. as far as I can see we are in track with expectations.
Any clues as to why this is now South of 60p? Looks a fair price unless there is gloom on the horizon.
3 transactions of 1 share each! I know some believe that is a signal that a RNS is coming, Ithink that is old superstition but stil lhave no idea why anyone would trade for 64 p and pay costs on top of it? Otherwise reasonably quiet here. Have held steady during the recent turmoil, hopefully will go up with the recovery!
Hi Lego, SER is on life support, honestly cant see them survive, will need a major miracle. I have about 20 times larger investment here than in SER and even with the unexplained recent drop things are good for this share. I have an average of 11 and am hoping for 3 figures at some stage especially if there is a takeover bid which is likely with 2 companies owning over 20% each of the shares. very steady profits, great dividends, solid steady management and very little risk to the main model. They could be more profitable compared to the industry but the multiple of EBITDA is far too low compared to recent deals in the market. Other than that I am in a number of larger shares. My best ones that I got in at the right time were BDEV, TW. Barc, BKIR, EASY, INCH and IHG. I am looking now at shares which might recover at some stage, STAN, BP. both in my view oversold and far too low. I do have a number of smaller ones such as XTR, CEB, PREM, SAR and NTOG but only small bits in each. Also bought some in MIN which if Greece ever turns around have some good projects there as well as a good base in the UK. Goodluck to you and as always DYOR
as long as we get a bidding war within the next 3 or 4 years so I can retire happily with a price above 100, I will be satisfied!
the drop is coinciding with the payment of the dividend and fellow stock holders reinvesting and trying to get the most bang for their newly paid buck. Haven't you noticed over the years that this drop happens after almost every dividend payment? I have personally added to my holdings many times by reinvesting the divi and trying to time the low...Don't be surprised if BCD does the same again and adds another per cent to their now 25 per cent stake soon....
the drop this should be flying now all the signs are great I am a little disappointed to be honest.
Just saw he Edison analysis which promises good things to come. price dropped today for no reason whatsoever: http://www.edisoninvestmentresearch.com/serve_pdf.php?d=researchreports&f=hoggUpdate290715.pdf&first_name=&last_name=&company=&email=
the 70's we go and a new 12 month high its been knocking on the door for the last week. New highs will become the norm now. Let it go, let it go, come HRG onwards and upwards
That is of course the hole, that we get into a bidding war, I am sure HRG would prefer DNATA, could be a very interesting next few weeks and months! really hopeful for a much higher price and if a bid comes in could easily be 3 figures. At that point I am going to take my profit, me thinks! but one step at a time!
