I sold my holding and bought a few oilies with the proceeds, but I am still interested in the company. Interesting to see how they have reorganised with the land division. Could buy in again later in the year. GL in the meantime! L
Not much to chat about of late but this morning is looking a little better. Looking forward to a BBQ this evening :)
Interesting post. The company is in profit and will be paying a divi soon, I am not sure what the misery is though? It seems to be heading north again now and the previous 153 was on rumours of a move by Magna. If it was to be taken over then 250-300 could be the sp! I don't think now is the time to sell!
Hi everyone, I'm reluctant to sell at the mo. Interesting what you say about a takeover. My instincts after reading through the agm report was that gkn had very little in the way of innovative products apart from its driveline kit. Winglets - what a joke, these can be made by anyone. Yep, I reckon this company should be put out of its misery and taken over!
Hi Mate Sorry Havnt checked on here for a few days as i was feeling as grey as the weather I thought whatever happens im staying in so ill just keep waiting and hoping we get back up and beyound and collect our dividends Everything over the last few days has been good for us but as we know with the major volitilaty in the market take every day as it comes
Wasreally hot here yesterday, French bank holiday, but today the weather is greyer and so is the outlook on the stock market. At this rate we could be back to our entry figures soon. FTSE down and my European shares are all down. I'm glad that this is spare cash and I don't need it urgently. Good job we have some patience! GL
I was thinking about her buying at 133 today. She is down a lot at the mo!! We did finish up today so not everything is bad. Have a good weekend
I Read somewhere the other day that the takeover could still happen and There was some very hefty trades going in yesterday when it hit them lows ..Mind you there seems from what i have read on forums that Gkn has always been at the center of takeover speculation Anyway have a good weekend a remember that Mike Turners mrs bought in at 133 so she cant be that daft can she? or can she ?
Thanks for the info. I am staying in and am waiting for it to go back up. Patience is a virtue, just a bit boring!
Unfortunately I do not. As far as I know the takeover halted before everything hit the fan and at the peak share price. The Canadian co. had a lot of cash to spare, hence the heavy buying. I imagine they have since been hit the same as everyone else. Personally I am not brave enough to stay in at the mo with these heavy falls.
We have mentioned the takeover bid before but I didn't know that that was why the share price went up. As it is now going down do you know whether it is bofa, angela merkel or change of heart on take over that has reduced the sp?
I have been reading these messages with interest over the past few weeks. No one seems to have mentioned that the sharp rise to over 150p was partly due to a Canadian company buying up a load of stocks as part of a takeover bid. Wasn't well publicised but I had inside knowledge. Anyone else have info on this?
Hi luckygold, thre hasn't been a lot to say lately, shares falling everywhere, least the ones I hold. Seems Angela Merkel messed things up big time! However, the sun is shining and summer is coming. GL with the studying :)
We gotta blame bofa really after what they wrote about gkn on a brighter note after the close some buying at 122 Guzbod hope all is well for you im trying to do abit of studying so havnt been on much Good luck and chat soon :)
Like Hayley says, this is the time to top up. This share is reliable and will be handing out a divi soon. Not so long ago it was 153 and I see no reason why this shouldn't hit 175 in due course. This is one to hold and not worry about. Blame Angela merkel!!!!
Don't panic, Look at the rest of the market and what's going on in the Eurozone! All shares have been hit across the board. I know it's painful seeing your shares dive when they're doing so well (I'm also in MECOM and that's not pretty either, compared to how it was a couple of weeks back!), but GKN shares will most definitely recover. I'd say this is actually the time to think about stocking up with more while it's at this low price... ;0)
what a sp disaster! This coy was going great guns then splat. I thought gkn was well diversified and no longer dependent on car production! this is one to dump if ever I recover my loss.
Back above 140 today but I feel that although this share may rise, the general market conditions are less than positive. What with Greece and now Spain, confidence has taken a dent. The pound seems to be doing OK:( but the Euro is going downhill bigtime
Very nice day today lets start a strong move back up now A independent non ex wife has just got 60k of shares at 133 so she must think there great value at this price http://www.sharecast.com/cgi-bin/sharecast/story.cgi?story_id=3448168
Hi guys, nearly 10p recovery today, that's better. It needs to keep going now to get back to 153 where it was before. GL:)
Like you say it is finding some cash and a good entry point. This share will soon be back to plus 150. You can't remain aloof from the global situation. I would like to think that they have another electionb and a clear result. All this talk of coalitions isn't going to solve the problem.
121.6 close , just got to ride this one out and find some cash soon to dip in again. Once the election / Greece noise goes away in a couple of weeks , we'll be heading north again for sure.
It all went crazy yesterday, particularly in US. Total rubbish on election front, doesn't look good because I think we will have to have another election. Niot good for sterling or shares
I think tories might just scrape it then we will hopefully get abit of a bounce (things are all good with Gkn) but now globaly the **** is starting to hit the fan .Tomoz should be a very intresting day Good luck :)
Bit of a pants day! I thought it was going to finish over 130 but it didn't. Still I wonder what will be the result of the election?
