We are not miners and GH playing a blinder to her highest price , mid August takeover of sorts latest imo
How do you reckon it’s gonna play out goldplease ?
I'm no expert but surely a takeover would take a long time to orchestrate and not something that could be whipped together in a matter of weeks.
I’m sure discussions are going on even if informal at this stage .
It's already been decided I reckon
Hope not it’ll be 22p ish
Don’t want that
But wouldn't it have to go to a vote with shareholders?
So although there may well be discussions ongoing its not a given is it?
The ceo of NCM has announced that the gold deposit at Havieron could be 'ten times greater than Telfer'. That's only a ball-park figure but it may have been a subtle hint. to NCM shareholders. of the price to be paid for obtaining a 100% share of this lucrative site. All very intriguing.
Saying 10 times would definitely of been conservative
No way he would go the whole hog
Mush. No he didn’t. He said the grades in the hg zone were ten times that of telfer. You are twisting the facts. Were you ever a journalist?
Rest of the optimistic posts on here are about as sensible as some of the rubbish from that fool.
A lot of really good and improbable things have got to happen to get to a pound.
Even Mickey isn’t that bullish so bare that in mind....
Oops..sorry Jerry. You were right to call me out. My memory playing up there. No intention to mislead but it his remark was about grades not quantity.
Spy I don’t think the takeover is a done deal yet , the party line from GH is Greatland is going all the way if not a little subdued ( big clue ) as not agreed yet but watch this space .
Hi mickey, spy - I also think that the deal is not finalised but definitely both parties are discussing matters in increasingly specific terms as the results come in - hence the actions GH has taken of late with Hannam and the interview, I am kind of conflicted about the interview but increasingly feel it was more for shareholders benefits rather than a strategy play against Newcrest.
SB - I wasn't proposing we have anything to be unhappy about if they buy our stake in Hav - will be a nice number - not one that leaves a sour taste in our mouth at all.
This is just the best move for both parties as we need to make a sacrifice of sorts now, as you have to make your plays based on your negotiating power at the time. Newcrest shareholders will want proven assets and be less willing to pay for those that haven't been so - hence my theory that they'll be more focused on just Hav.
I never said the deal was finalised, I said I think they have already agreed what they are going to do..
How you interpret that is your choice. I don't think any deal is done and actually think it's going all the way to P4
Hopefully they haven’t agreed on the price yet! As Hav keeps getting bigger (well hopefully it is).
I’m in the camp of it will go the distance of the original farm in deal. After that, I have no clue but look forward to it :)
Good evening Dio666.
I know I have a naive approach to doing business sometimes.
The whole “negotiating power” thingy bob does not sit well with me.
(I blame an old boss, whose mantra was that the company had only done a good deal, if the customer was happy and satisfied)
I prefer the gentleman handshake over a glass of good whiskey.
(and then a signature for the sake of the law)
And listening to GH speaking at the AGM in December 2019 that is exactly the kind of relationship he described having with Newcrest in my ears.
He could not applaud them enough for the help they gave to our people on the ground.
The amenities they put at their disposal.
So for me a good sign of a great and friendly relationship.
Exactly what I want from a business partner.
But you are right, Newcrest have so indeed made their plays, based on their negotiating power at the time (hope you don’t mind to much, me paraphrasing you with small modifications) otherwise they would not have achieved 70% of Havieron.
I just hope they will be happy with that or with 75%. (I really want to sell 5% at a fair market price)
If they are happy with say 70% they have managed to get almost ¾ of a (hopefully) Tier 1 mine for $65 million + 70% of the cost of building the mine, so including overrun of a budget, as it is custom to do on major projects, lets say they come in just south of $200 million.
That is a fantastic price for 70% of a (again hopefully) Tier 1 mine.
Buying the 5% at a fair market value will cost them a lot.
Buying the whole 30% will cost them so MUCH more.
So I just really hope they will be happy with their 70-75% share of Havieron.
With money in our coffers, after having sold 5% at fair value, we can pay our share of the cost to build the mine and we can start to prove up Scallywag.
If Scallywag turns out to be commercial viable, then we already have a tolling agreement in place with Newcrest allowing us to have it processed at Telfer.
That would open up for another JV with Newcrest, but hopefully in a reversed ratio with 75/25 in our favour.
There will of course be extra income for Newcrest to be had. We will have to pay them for doing the hard work.
I am sure we could get many 100rd millions for our share in Havieron, but I am even more sure that long term we will get so much more if we stay invested for decades to come.
