The woodford hangover cannot be understated on psychology of investors. 30% dumped in 6 months is disastrous and took 90% off the share price and that is utterly soul destroying for long-term investors. i have been in many companies with forced sellers and it can take 6 months after the last share is sold for NEW investors to realise that the company is not bust as the valuation today would suggest. People think something else is wrong as how can a company be worth so little, there must be something else. Therefore everyone waits actual confirmation. The merger talks ended that knocked confidence but that could happen again as the market needs to continue to consolidate. Q4 Eve broke even but was this a fluke ? if we know Q1-3 got better and better you must be sensing where we are going. however it is not until this is confirmed and the PR machine whirs into action will this get picked up. Been in too many companies where you simply recognise the valuation of the company is simply not correct. If i could i would love to buy Eve for £3.5m, knowing i have £7.5m in the bank so even on the basics you can see that the company is priced incorrectly. if i was long-term investor i would dyor but probably average down as the change will be quite quick when it comes.
"nudge nudge , wink wink, attitude", no really, not at all. PLC has specific times to make formal announcements. Emma for eg can talk to a mag and say their sales are up.. 120%. Eve can't.
May wasn't in the last period (was it?) so she only said it was 'good'. Seems fair enough to me but, as I say, you could be right.
HH, agree. Can't put it better myself.
FACT - this share is way over sold, and cheap following the Woodford debacle
FACT - company performance has improved and market has moved favourably
I appreciate that Woodford piece and selling in now 'water under the bridge' and perhaps not enough people see a bright future for EVE.
However, there is more than enough for me here to suggest the SP will go up signifcantly in the coming weeks and months. whether EVE goes on to bigger/better things of if it is 'taken out'
Only my opinion, DYOR. I'm only speaking as a relatively new and optimistic modest s/holder here
Accept she had the opportunity in the last update to be more straightforward on sales, she did not have to be "reserved" then but as I said at the time, April was in her words disruptive (ie sales fell) May, they bounced back and overall the average loss per month was £100k, why this has to be interpreted any more than that is, is risky. What you are assuming is a nudge nudge , wink wink, attitude on improved sales beyond indications when she has gone, imo, out of her way NOT to do that
I suspect CC has been reserved with her comments; they can't hand out market sensitive information through the press, in the way private competitors can. She said as much in the interview.
CI, I would remind you that woodford has been out for some time and the SP has not moved. The update before the last recent update, quoted B/E on Q4 before fixed costs and the SP has not moved (much). The last update confirmed that trend with a limited cash outflow of £100k up to and incl May and the SP has not moved.
If it turns out that the last 6 weeks have seen Bumper sales, then CC has deliberately played down this trend with the various reserved comments about future sales, Inches yards etc etc in interviews and statements that we all know about. So yes, it might happen but there is actually no hint or indication that it has. (In fact, the opposite, so I disagree that its a "No-Brainer" as still we wait to see if it is a viable business model, again this is nothing to do with online shopping trends, its just about EVE as a going concern
Digtal and online sales FTW. IMO limited downside risks with solid cashflow management; higher potential upwards. It only takes one interested buyer to get the party started. At these levels IMO is a no brainer risks vs reward. At these rock bottom levels mainly due to Woodford force sales.
I would point you towards DLMN update, regarding stores and costs of 150k extra per week due to Covid 19 soical distancing in stores etc and how digtal side and online sales doing very very well. GLA
