Apple supplier Quanta hit by cyber attack
Just bought a few more, rude not to at this price!
That's my Bed and ISA through this morning.
Apple Targeted in $50 Million Ransomware Hack of Supplier Quanta
As Apple Inc. was revealing its newest line of iPads and flashy new iMacs on Tuesday, one of its primary suppliers was enduring a ransomware attack from a Russian operator claiming to have stolen blueprints of the U.S. company’s latest products.
The ransomware group REvil, also known as Sodinokibi, published a blog on its darkweb site early on Tuesday in which it claimed to have infiltrated the computer network of Quanta Computer Inc. The Taiwan-based company is a key supplier to Apple, manufacturing mostly Macbooks. It similarly produces goods for the likes of HP Inc., Facebook Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google.
REvil’s public face on the darkweb, a user on the cyber-crime forum XSS who goes by the name ‘Unknown’, announced Sunday that the ransomware group was on the cusp of declaring its “largest attack ever,” in a post reviewed by Bloomberg News. The post was made in Russian on a channel where the REvil group recruits new affiliates, according to a person familiar with Unknown’s history on the XSS forum who sought anonymity for fear of retaliation.
By early on April 20, REvil’s ‘Happy Blog’ -- a site where the cartel publicly names and shames victims in hopes of coaxing ransom payment -- declared Quanta its latest victim. In their post, also reviewed by Bloomberg, the hackers claim they’d waited to disclose the Quanta compromise until the date of Apple’s latest big reveal, contending the parts supplier had expressed no interest in paying to recover the stolen data.

C&C said its Matthew Clark Bibendum (MCB) wholesale business was forced to shut down its computer systems after it was the target of a cyber attack. The drinks company said MCB discovered the attack on 16 April and quickly closed all its IT systems. MCB has hired a forensic IT firm and lawyers to investigate the incident and restore the systems as quickly and safely as possible.
I'm all in on Drumz Optimist (as far as my max weighting to my overall SIPP) and I've been in since early energiser (so over 1p.....) I'm what's known as a long-term holder of these! :)
Very relaxed with my holding here. Acuity are seeing significant increases in contract wins and revenues. Once the actual figures for the year are released I expect a lot more people will take note as the value of Drumz available 25% holding will have increased significantly.
KCR appear to have finally found the correct financial balance and are anticipating positive cash flow moving forward. This should greatly assist in an improved share price and valuation for the Drumz balance sheet.
News of a further investment could land at anytime, which in itself could propel the share price forward significantly and hopefully trigger the warrants at 1.00p.
Plenty to look forward to IMHO.
Feels like it's going to need a nuclear bomb to make this share move upwards. The positive news from KCR (massive legacy overhang in that share of course)..........made absolutely no difference to the share price and now there's talk of the darktrace IPO being a damp squib (because Lynch is a massive shareholder and if he's extradited and convicted there could be repercussions for darktrace I gather). All in all; #prayfordrumz......

hopefully this will turn into TERN MK2
Looks like a great investment in acuity, just wished drum owed much more than the % holding they have even with the further 5%.
Looking forward to updates, including further strategic updates on increasing stakes or new investments. Compared to similar investment companies this one seemed at a reasonable price, with upside potential.

Looks like we are finally breaking out of the previous six month trading range.
I think the next trading update from Acuity will be pretty impressive and judging by the ongoing cyber security threats, there should also be quite a few more contract wins as well.
mr Scott took another 1%

Demand for cybersecurity for cloud-based services is booming as companies seek to bolster their digital defenses against increasingly sophisticated hacks, according to MarketsandMarkets. The global market is expected to double to $68.5 billion by 2025, the research firm wrote in July.
“Cloud security is the biggest pain point for enterprise organizations, actually any organization that’s going through digital transformations,” Wiz Chairman Gili Raanan said in an interview.
Darktrace is expected to announce its intention to float in the coming days, Sky News reports. The company is seeking a £3 billion (US$4.1 billion) listing on the London Stock Exchange, and sources told Sky that the company is "confident" that shares will begin trading around the end of April.
Redcar cyber-attack: Government to help cover costs
A council left without online services for weeks following a cyber-attack is to receive £3.68m from the government to help towards the cost of rebuilding its systems.
The attack was estimated to have cost Redcar and Cleveland Council £10m, with the authority having to foot the remainder of the bill itself.
It said no ransom was paid to the hackers.
Critics said the government should be covering more of the cost.
Experts from the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) had to be drafted in to help restore appointment bookings, planning documents, social care advice and council housing complaints systems that had been knocked offline in February last year.

The European Commission and several other European Union organizations were hit by a cyberattack in March, according to a European Commission spokesperson.
As revealed by the spokesperson, the "IT security incident" impacted multiple EU institutions, bodies, or agencies' IT infrastructure. "We are working closely with CERT-EU, the Computer Emergency Response Team for all EU institutions, bodies and agencies and the vendor of the affected IT solution," the spokesperson told BleepingComputer.
Acuity. Very strong fourth quarter and business outlook very positive.
