Claire 850, Charles 865? Put me down for 873 then. :-)
Jayne,
I have to confess that I had not been watching the trades yesterday so thank you for the background. Dark seems to have formed a strong trading pattern for me - a series of steady rises followed by a scary descent (for whatever reason), but always progressing upwards. A market-makers dream. Also I was a bit pre-occupied with Shell's sudden recent breakout progress.
I can feel a really good conspiracy theory coming on relating to the share price and induction in to the FTSE 100 hall of fame, but I hope that I am wrong!
Hi Getafgrip, I'm not one for seeing manipulation whenever the price takes a dive, but watching the trades from opening throughout the day, to me it was very clear the SP was being walked down. We were on the rise and fell significantly, even though the buys were clearly outnumbering sells. That's why Lending's observation makes sense to me.
Whatever the reason, seems like there's good consensus on where it'll likely bottom - and rise - anyway. :-)
I'm with ChefMarco on this. Behaviourally just like an imminent placing, but I think just a bit of altitude sickness for many with a target of around £10 before bailing out! Some serious gains around & it's never wrong to take one. On patterns of behaviour it should bottom out around £8.50-£8.60 was my feeling as well.
Certainly looking for how low we go before buying more & I had decided not to make any further purchases of Dark.
Jayne - just part of an approach: observe - hypothesise - test -move on if hypothesis unfounded. As you note it is an observation and it was not meant as a prediction but interesting to see whether…..Needing to understand cause and effect relationships is in-bedded in my DNA.
Don’t believe it’s a placing , purely charts playing out . Bounce 850 - 860 . Have a lovely weekend all .
Lending, good observation, really does look like a pattern emerging and another placing on the way. I'm just surprised the drop began today when the lock-in doesn't officially end until the 27th.
850 could be potential based on the close. Still a lot of earlier investors with lots of profits, still need a lot investor churn at the higher level to build a longer term stable platform
Just a thought

If this is a true cup and handle pattern it should see a raise soon … I’d calculated around 850 support but had hoped for 885 maximum which I think we’ve just seen so it could possibly go slightly further on Monday. I re invested at around 9 after selling at 970, however my average is low as I bought at 611 and 734. I’ve kept some powder dry and will top up if this drops any further. To be absolutely sure this is a cup and handle trade you’d have to buy at the breakout point but obviously the price will be much higher but lower risk …. And of course we all want the lowest price but this carries a bigger risk.. GLA.. let’s hope we see the raise next week!!
On more reflection I revise the sp down to 790 . Just a silly guess. If it does I will buy as many as I can as the future isn’t orange it’s Darktrace. :-) have a nice week end all and keep fighting. Finance wise not actually fighting ! Waitrose wine department will be raided tomorrow . Actually there is a good wine store in Cambridge. Up the reds hic ! . YNWA.
I was tempted but on reflection I will see if I can get about 860 maybe on Monday. Just have a gut feeling it may drop a bit more. :-).
As a long time lurker on this board I am also wondering the same. Luckily I sold half of my holding yesterday with the intent to buy back in.
My concern is the ending of the locked up shares in two weeks with also the delay in the Mike lynch case also being around that time. If both go badly there could be a big drop, so the question is - is it worth the gamble to buy back now hoping for a rebound next week or wait until the lock up period so see where the price goes?
Dark now almost £1 a share cheaper than when I sold yesterday. Strongly tempted to buy back in again.
What do you guys think, buy now or is there further to fall?
Hi Nidec,
Apologies for assuming you missed the point, and glad to hear your strategy has been working and you’re also a BTC holder - as I am too (approx. 30 atm in ledger amongst others).
Anyway, hope your investments continue to grow to your fruition goal/target. ATB ^__^
Interesting Nidec, I've been watching ONT too with a view to buying in, suspected it would drop after the initial rush. I'm looking to get in slighter lower still, ever the bargain hunter! :-))) Long term ONT appears a no brainer, but do want to look into their competitors more.
Hi IP3LY,
"Think your point was missed by Nidec", didnt miss his point. Just doing what I have done in the past and which has worked for me. Ive been waiting for the opportunity to buy ONT and feel now might be that time - sure it might drift lower and I may even buy more if that happens, but youve got to be in it to win it.
A while back I sold 1 Bitcoin for $24k which covered the cost of the remaining 6 I hold. Completely takes away any pressure to sell on dips/pullbacks and to hold until it hits the price Im waiting for. Same applies for some other stocks I hold.
Don’t worry about it Henrygobaker - Think your point was missed by Nidec regarding why did you do this. Either way Nidec has his own strategy as we all do. At least for him he is playing safe and freerolling his amount he has in Dark (and ATB with it and hope it works out) and buying the dip on his stated share of buying into ONT.
Each to their own to obtain the same end goal imho.
GLA & ATB ;)
Henry, your making a big assumption interest rates don’t go up.
I'm in both for the long term, 5 years is no problem.
As I've said, my Dark holding has paid for itself and I have several thousand still growing for me with zero risk.
Without being rude. Why did you do this? Dark is going up and ONT is going down. ONT is at best a 5 year investment. Dark could hit £11/12 easy this year.
Just sold some Dark so that my remaining Dark shares are, basically, free so a totally risk-free investment from now on.
Spent some of the profits on ONT
