Cable & Wireless Communications Plc ("CWC" or the "Company") today announced that it has agreed the sale of Compagnie Monégasque de Communication S.A.M., the holding company for CWC's 55% stake in Monaco Telecom S.A.M., to a private investment vehicle controlled by Xavier Niel, the French entrepreneur and industrialist, for a total consideration of EUR321,788,000 (US$445 million) (the "Disposal").
Ridiculously undervalued . Do investors think this is in Ukraine? Nothing else to say !!!!

Since when do people have any say in being a takeover target? A good question for Vodafone? The whole telecoms area is in play- like it or not with all the Verizon Cash and ATT on the lookout
I take it that is a joke, got to be the most ridiculous comment I have heard this year, if it is an attempt at a joke or you are bored, fair enough. The only companies that wait or more accurately look for takeover bids are the distressed ones. CWC are not distressed. I believe they are in good shape with huge potential to increase shareholder value,
Probably waiting for a t/o bid once next results are out.
The sp has been drifting for some time now. Does anybody know why?
Just read up on crossing trades! enough said. :o) Friday
Thanks for the swift reply Toonman. I dipped my toe in just after two today and runs till September, and that trade at the close of play today made me think YES! I have read some interesting thing about this company. And happy regarding what I have done. Best wishes Friday.
I am a long term holder here and like the prospects. But I woudn't get too excited about the two trades you referred to. Bentley bought because it was a condition of his employment (bit unlucky with the timing imo) and the large trade after close of play was an uncrossing trade.
Hi guys, Just put a spread bet on this pm today because of Phil Bentley,s top up in January and the way this has crept up over the last two weeks. I just noticed the big investment just after play today. Whats that about? Regards Friday.

Now that the ownership issue has been resolved there is further good news coming out of CWC's BTC Bahamas operation. http://www.thenassauguardian.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=45169&Itemid=2
12 Feb 2014 Cable & Wireless... CWC Deutsche Bank Buy 0.00 53.75 57.00 57.00 Reiterates SP TARGET 57p
So Tim Pennington leaves to join Millicom based in London (Nasdaq listed). For those who don't know they are not a competitior of CWC but do also operate in Latin America and are somewhat larger than CWC.
T/O rumours in theTelecoms industry circulate at least Bi annualy , if one does arrive you will be lucky. Rather than just saying is the bid here yet , make a case for one
Because 29Feb, isn't until 2016 lol
11 Feb is interim statement. Why 29Feb , Is it the day after your monthly bath and hair wash :-]
29th of February
So when will the bid be made?
Thanks for that Comsman. The history helps. It must be nice to own ones own finance company and ship the cash around the balance sheets. The overall effect is roughly as I guessed, I guess. - one asset value up and the other asset value down. Sum of the parts unchanged!
....the rumours were about a possible Liberty Global or AT&T bid for CWC. Liberty seems to have their eyes on a Spanish cable operator at the moment but of course AT&T have just declared that they will not be bidding for Vodafone in the medium term. AT&T released dissapointing results today and analysts expect them now 'to do something'. Who knows, CWC may be a tiddler in AT&T's eyes but it is local and offers a number of synergies to them. http://www.lse.co.uk/ShareNews.asp?shareprice=VOD&code=ld0pz9ky&headline=UPDATE_3ATT_disappoints_on_cash_flow_target_subscriber_growth
Looks like a buy at this level, lots of buyers topping up. Share will probably rise again. Anyone got any news on the big Blackrock purchase? Been in Abu Dhabi for a week weeks. Cheers
CWC has been carrying about a billion dollars of debt since shortly after its creation following the demeger of the old company. In a previous company update the CEO/Finance Director declared that some of the proceeds of the Macau and Islands would be used to pay down this debt. I believe that the redemption of the Sable Finance notes (circa $500m) is the result of this previous declaration. The company now has reduced its bebt by about 40% which means it is paying less in interest and can better cover the divident payments but of course has less 'cash in the bank' although probably still enough to clear most of what else ot owes the financial markets. Hope this helps.
How does this affect the balance sheet and shareholders? - if at all. CWC wholly owns Sable International Finance Limited ("SIFL"). - So is it just a shuffle around of money in the Balance sheets as they are, I guess, reported in a consolidated sheet as far as shareholders are concerned?
