You have to hedge your bets on companies that are in trouble by investing elsewhere also, i lost count of how many times i said this was lose the lot or make a killing, in the last 12 months i did about 4 or 5 that were im trouble or lagging because of poor updates etc inc talktalk, ncc,jd sports, next, tesco, rbs, barclays and i made money on all of them but lost out on this one and thats the way it goes, rbs was a good one to trade for a long while as it was very up and down but has been steady for a while now.
that's frankly amazing. In the statement it talks about the RBS decision negatively affecting cashflow by 2m to 20m. Smacks of people muddying the waters as much as possible and way be worried about wrongful trading in the weeks leading up to the weekend. I had some sympathy for Cochrane as clearly the whole initial mess was not of his making. However he appears to have achieved next to nothing during his short tenure. No assets sales, no middle east cash collection, no balance sheet strengthening, inability to persuade lenders to continue, inability to squeeze the government.
Yes, Tom the trouble is these "penny-shares" attract the opportunists who have the vision of great riches. It can happen but more often than not they just linger and as now die.
FD remember Taylor Woodrow one min they were over 5 the next 4 pence so yes it happens.
3putt absolutely and always my advice to any new investor. I remember the guy here back in August who ridiculed me when I stated a SP can go to Zero. He thought it could never happen and I was a joke. I'm not laughing and would not think he is either as at the last count his investment was around 70K after having averaged down. Never a wise move, imo.
5lawsofgold, Your Mortgage is one of the most important financial matters in your life and I for one would never have gambled with that money. There is an old saying in share dealing and that's only invest what you can afford to lose. I am sorry that you have taken that gamble but it was your choice. The only thing I can suggest is claw back what you can and if you can not move on investing in shares put your money in a safer place so your mortgage monies are secure.
stupid man how old are u. greed crept in eh.
and how many times have you heard the phrase "never invest more than you could afford to lose", no-one to blame but yourself
Whilst I no longer have to work any more, within the statute of my previous jobs I've been involved in many audits, and whilst never being at the helm I was amazed at what one could get away with telling them in order to brush concerns under the carpet, There have not been many audits where the numbers wanted could be pushed through and that includes audits from the big guys, It's obviously still happening because we still gets these 'shocks' coming through now and again
And Greg Clark,Business Secretary said 'any evidence of misconduct will be taken very seriously' this could end up with someone's pocket money is going to be stopped!
I can’t afford to lose what I have lost and I can’t move on. That money was for my mortgage! So many people on this board said this was a dead cert!
In which case as EY and PwC have been involved since September, they have known for some time a recovery was very unlikely. As you say it is very, very unusual for an Administrator to refuse work as that can be meat and gravy to them.
Yes, one Law for them and another for Us. Hope you have seen or heard Cochrane's statement to the High Court, he seems to be blaming RBS and Santander for pulling the rug.
To say I am outraged is an understatement., having several associates losing a lot of money. As an MD, I have on several occasions refused my salary and bonuses to protect that of my staff. It would seem that the big boys, who can well afford to do this, are only looking after their own interests !! Seems to happen time and time again.
They should be held up for their failings 100 percent, my mrs works for rbs and when that share price crashed before the bailout there were several staff and customers that committed suicide due to the loss of their life saving and pensions etc that were held in shares, all fred goodwin got was to be "criticised" ?! He should have had assets seazed and imprisoned but there you go
Proceeds of Crime Act give provisions for seizure of assets. This all depends on a successful Criminal Act being proven.
The wording "Move on" was meant to mean move onto other ways of share dealing and try and recoup some losses. Anyone found from corruption / fraud most definitely should be prosecuted for sure and their assets confiscated towards repaying those that have lost out. Read my post Today 13:32
Winning orders from HM Gov & Local Councils was easy play due to the convenient process of Contract Award The major cause of failure was the lack of quality Project management & the inability control the basic elements at ground level. How long had the board been rewarding themselves for being top leaders of industry ? Some if not all need to be charged with fraud or at lease exposed for being incompetent
I will never except this 'move on' theory. If someone in high office has acted corruptly then justice has to be done, just like it would be done in a benefit fraud case, otherwise we are no better than Zimbabwe.
Chief soap picker upper :-) brilliant.
I hope that any further payments/ salaries to any of the directors are frozen / cancelled immediately especially this type of payment:- There has been much criticism over the size of Mr Howson's pay award in 2016 which, including bonuses, totalled 1.5m. He is also due to receive a salary until October of the this year.
Yes the same sort of tough jail time experience by the likes of Jeffery Archer & Jonathon Aitken. Cell room thermostat set on 20 instead of 23C
It would be lovely if they assumed the role chief soap picker upper !!
I hope some of those guilty of hiding the facts and running this scam for so long get awarded some jail time for the carnage they have caused... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-42703549
The government are partly to blame for this mess so I would not recommend putting any faith with them throwing any type of a lifeline with conditions. CLLN are finished as a group and no life line will be considered, remember they are millions in debt to top it all. IMO move on.
