Looks very positive for suicide squad! Could be the biggest Box office of the year
Aware of that one and it's really tame. Was angling at a more exciting JC and Animal Kingdom the better place.
Like FI said jungle cruise is already a ride in magic kingdom, the film is very loosely based on the ride with a few references in the film you’d only know if you’ve been on the ride. I’d imagine they’ll be re-doing the ride so it’s more like the film. The Haunted mansion and pirates of the Caribbean were rides in magic kingdom before they were films too
It is already a theme park rise the movie is based on it.
It's already part of Magic Kingdom, 10 minute ride through various countries.
(Jungle Cruise).
At least that's my understanding.
The negative cost of Jungle Cruise including advertising etc seems to be nearer to $362 Million than $500M Tom.
Godzilla versus Kong for comparison had an opening weekend was $$31,625,971, so less than Jungle Cruise, and yet it went on to gross $465,763,133.
If Jungle Cruise goes on to generate the same worldwide gross or more then sorry to disagree with you but that won't be a disaster at all. In any case the talk is that Disney will probably look to further monetise this as a Theme Park ride (and Disney's Animal Kingdom would be the most obvious park).
Jungle Cruise - Negative Cost figure
***Also note North American Box Office is UP - 9% on last week from all films***

Have a good evening.
Bob Chapek saying at one of their investor days that when times are normal, he thinks theatrical is important, exclusivity is important,
Every studio has a 45-day window next year. Good for Cinemas. :-))))
Some positive news.

It would never have made money in 2019, too expensive to make + advertising.
If Jungle Cruise made $34.2M at the US / Canadian Box Office over it's first weekend then it has exceeded the initially predicted $25M and the predicted drop off in ticket as a result of PVOD has not been as bad as some had thought.
Initial prediction link prior to the weekend.

It'll be interesting to see how JC's opening weekend compares with The Suicide Squad which debuts in the US and Canada from the 6th August. Both I have as middle of the road grossing films.
