Probably because the strategy is programmed to not raise the offer (yet) or to not add to the offer on any rise (no matter how small) until a certain quota is achieved. Read the article, it's amazing the amount of variables that can be programmed into an automated trading system program.
"Traders and investors can turn precise entry, exit, and money management rules into automated trading systems that allow computers to execute and monitor the trades. One of the biggest attractions of strategy automation is that it can take some of the emotion out of trading since trades are automatically placed once certain criteria are met."
"Once the rules have been established, the computer can monitor the markets to find buy or sell opportunities based on the trading strategy's specifications. Depending on the specific rules, as soon as a trade is entered, any orders for protective stop losses, trailing stops and profit targets will be automatically generated."
A trading strategy can take weeks or months to achieve an objective and multiple objectives can be deployed over a number of years.
Except the buying isn't raising the offer in the same way that the sells are lowering it.
It just looks like any buying is not making any difference to the decline.
Has to be something unknown to us minnow PIs.
There is indeed buying. I bought ~ 11K's worth yesterday in my SIPP.
There's buying.
Except no one is buying them back the next day!
With a deal that needs time to play out, traders and impatient investors were always going to leave. Twas a good time do deploy the algo...
Selling shares on a low volume day and causing a bit of panic only to buy double that number back the next day is the easiest thing in the world for a computer program to do. Set & forget. No emotion, it just executes upon the strategy.

RiskyB - Get some decent Tea Leaves!
IMHO of course
Wouldn't read too much into that ... sentiment is lousy.
I seriously recon we could go back to 2p. Yes, I know that is controversial, but, I read it in the tea leaves.
Shhh .. don't tell the shorters ... they are going to make serious money here.
Interesting trade an hour after close ?? 533,732 shares traded at 8.119 £43.33k marked "unknown" . I think this is clearly a "buy" as the sells were going through at 7.98/7.99 and the previous purchases 8.01/8.05.
Biggest trade of the afternoon which will be stuck on tomorrow morning start.
Don't let anyone tell me there is nothing funny going on!
Surely will be UP tomorrow.
BALLS. Nothing other than a better clip.
I wouldn’t disagree with you ianfer, and it was speculation.
I guess we are all trying to find a logical reason for what is unraveling before us
@Gooner
Better clip

Seedy - I guess that is possible, but hopefully the B.O.D. would have a figure in mind to accept which would not be affected by the sp at any time. In takeovers, sometimes the offer is only a few % above market price and sometimes 2 or 3 times as much. They say they had an offer last year but did not disclose the amount, only that it was not worth considering.
If the share price is 8p would the BOD be more inclined to accept (or recommend to shareholders) say 40p than if the sp was say 38p ?
If they think the Company is worth 50p they may not accept 40p whether sp was 8p or 38p. But they probably have to inform all shareholders if they have a serious offer .
@Goonerpete
Great Door vid. Stunning.
What is to prevent a large shareholder selling out over an extended period of time and driving down the SP before them submitting a takeover offer?
It may sound crazy - but, maybe, a possibility?
Under Attack! Lol. Lets hope the SP recovers and attack fades. Back to 16p pls. GLA
Unless AP and his 'friends' are the eager beavers supporting each other in 'a winner take all' game??
.5465 dollars actually which is only £.432 or 43 pence. My error sorry. But I'll take the 43p thanks.
From previou posting info' Covalis had about 3% in options which expire after a certain time and they will have had to cash them in or find a lot of cash to support their options. As the shares did not go up they almost certainly had to cash in at a loss, but could have done that gradually rather than all at once. If that is what happened (and could still be in progress) that could easily explain why the sp is dropping. They may be keeping most of the balance of 2.79% ... or not?
Ian
"Average target price, still 54pence per below link."
Looks like a typo with too many digits?
Still selling then Ian
What exactly have Covalis found so offensive for them to exite so aggressively?
Average target price, still 54pence per below link.
GP - our 2 x 6%ers ....... AA seems to still have 5.7% and Covalis has got rid of about 3% (probably the buy options they had to sell) see the link :-- Covalis had 6% some time last year but now it seems 2.79%

This may be about up-to-date.

Nothing special about the telegram. If you want a light massage then migrate but of what is left here are now mostly honest and realistic people seeing and telling it as it is.
Small consolation:
Still no declared shorts (above reportabe threshold)
