Agree the rich and powerful are born to lead and it is up to the workers to do what they are told. All those Bullingdon club boys know best and probably get special training on zero hours contracts. Maggies treatment of the miners was ok as these people should know their place.Bertram you are so gifted in your opinion.
Fusion98 A history lesson,
In the 70`s we had various miners strikes, this leading to 3 day week and power cuts.
Denis Healey had to cut short his holiday because Labour had bankrupted the country. He had to go cap in hand and beg for a hand out from the IMF to keep Britain afloat. Not sure of date .
We were producing cars that nobody wanted, Alegros, Maxi,s, Princesses Morris Marinas and the like known in the trade as "dogs"
Britain was Known as "The sick man of Europe"
Maggie changed this. Ok a lot of service industries but still some very good cutting edge companies. We now produce more cars than ever so industry is still here. We have record employment also.
Now after Maggie came the useless John Major. Soon to be vanquished by the promise of "new Labour". And what happened? Gordon Brown chocked the golden goose. To use Labours own words "Theres nothing left" He sold half our gold at rock bottom prices along the way, remember? Sent my healthy private pension into the red reducing my pension and making me have to work years longer, Not very Labour like for the working man. The country near bankruptcy again. Which we are still paying for and caused by Labour, not Maggie.
Now some of my dates may not be accurate but the gist of my post is true.
If you want more country bankruptcy followed by austerity, lack of security, then vote Labour and pray history does not repeat itself. Here ends the lesson.
So we had better tell Caterpillar in Leicester to stop manufacturing diggers then?
$6.1b turnover company too

If it wasn't for Thatcher for distroying our manufacturing industry ,we would still probably be exporting products around the world, and a world leader. Instead she wanted service industry, hence we have no high skilled, world class leading workforce
Well I have looked, then looked again, turned it over to look, and guess what. I made no mention of the pro or con of Unions, just a comment on Mrs T.
If it wasn't for Thatcher for distroying our manufacturing industry ,we would still probably be exporting products around the world, and a world leader. Instead she wanted service industry, hence we have no high skilled, world class leading workforce, result we have to import most of what we need because we can no longer make it. Bit ironic she was called the Iron Lady as we no longer have steel making in the uk...

Heavy,
I am a long time Labour supporter and not looking forward to four more years of Boris. However I am very much relying that Corbyn does not get his message across. To put it frankly Labour has no chance if Corbyn successfully gets his message across.
"I put £3 on a cowboy outfit and I`m 6 minutes away from owning the Labour party."
Made me laugh out loud.
Does anyone know how to cancel an Ebay bid?
I put £3 on a cowboy outfit and I`m 6 minutes away from owning the Labour party.
Zero hours contracts are so good that every single MP is hoping their children will be offered one.Career advisers are telling children to apply for them.Working for rubbish wages is what made this country great. If we could bring back slavery think of how the treasury would benefit. The £350 million per week for the NHS would become a reality. The upper class could have staff that waited on them hand and foot.
Corbyn will always struggle to get his message across when he is competing against people who lie and get off with it.The Tory party are now firmly in Trump land and Dominic Cummings is in charge. We need someone to bring us back to a place where truth reigns.
Fleccy - there’s barely a fag paper between us. I don’t know why you “talk “ to as though I support Corbyns policies, when I’ve said again and again I do not.
There’s only two differences in our thinking
First is I think the Conservative party has been hijacked, I don’t recognise it or it’s actions. It’s been bad for a while, I’m appalled by the way it has behaved towards “ordinary people”. I’ve already given examples but they all come under the banner of unnecessary contempt
I have no faith in the current collection of cabinet ministers or their attitude towards their democratic responsibilities to us all
It’s gone to far, they have gone too far and they will go further, already a long way down the road already too heavily in bed with far right America & everything that brings with it, including questions about Russian money.
I think it’s time to go left, I’d rather it was less left but if Corbyn goes too far, I’ll vote right next time, because that’s the only way citizens in this country can control political extremes.
Voting for bad behaviour from a government can only lead to one thing, subsequent politicians will become more and more extreme to win power, might want to think where that will lead for our kids.
I personally believe it’s a voters responsibility to look beyond self interest and deliver their actual responsibility to maintain our precious democracy.
Brexit is a perfect example where citizens failed in my opinion & the reason why we are where we are. Soon as the leave campaign engaged in deception, made no attempt to describe what a leave voter actually meant, ran 3 separate funded campaigns (2 of which by very shady characters & money) vote leave, beleave & leave EU all selling different leave options it was an abuse of our system & people should have turned their back on it
This doesn’t even begin to consider the deliberate division & echos of pre war like claims of “Will of the people” “judges are enemies of the state” and many more. In my opinion these things are a disgrace & undeserving of a vote, regardless of what I want to happen
I realise you will say a labour government is just as bad, but it’s not actually is it? & if it is they won’t get very far before we can go right again back and forth until we get a government we deserve.
Aus, I watched Corbyn earlier and his promises seem great in the way he expresses them.
No more Zero hour contracts - I agree Zero hour contracts seem bad, but actually suit a lot of people. I've met delivery guys, installers, etc who it actually suits to have the flexibility of contract work, especially older men who do delivery type roles, or pension top up jobs.
There's a place for Zero hour contracts and no one's forcing people to work a Zero hour contract.
This business about selling off the NHS. What a fake narrative Labour are spinning, Mitie and other 3rd party service companies provide cleaners, electricians, etc to the NHS and agencies supply nursing staff and Doctors to the NHS. Who cares if the whole of the NHS is privatised, as long as it's still free to use. My experience of the NHS is different to the narrative pushed in the media and i can't recommend it as a good service. State run entities, such as the NHS, council staff, etc take advantage of their public ownership status and see themselves as superior and don't treat users as customers. I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one who has experienced this dismissive and superior attitude among public service workers in customer facing roles. Apart from six years in the Army, I've worked in private industry and the customer comes first and you get hauled over the coal's for being dismissive to customers.
Companies are there to make profit, what happens when they're forced to make expensive changes? They pass the cost onto customers and the ones that suffer are the low paid, so it will be a zero sum game for the lower paid. Labour policies are inflationary, so interest rates will climb affecting mortgage payers, which will make everyone with debt poorer.
It all comes back t the LAW OF UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES.

About as much as all the references to historic actions and comments you think are relevant when trying to promote your views?
Who has said they will only tax the rich? I imagine labour would say their philosophy is to look to make everyone NOT poor.
However I absolutely agree that we need a society motivated by hard work and that rewards initiative. I share your concern that labours approach will stifle this.
Having said that my view is if things are really going to get better we have to find a more balanced way forward.
The opportunity to fully enjoy the wealth we work to accumulate will always be limited in value if we are unable to create a more positive and supportive society.
Unfortunately I don’t see any party looking much beyond their own agendas and self interest right now.
Fleccy - “ he Labour philosophy seems to equate to make everyone equal, by making everyone poor. I d agree that capitalism unchecked is really bad, but how do you ensure that hard work is rewarded? ”
Oh come of for pity sake you can’t start of a discussion by mid-representing U.K. socialism by describing it as communism, it’s ridiculous & that reads like American rhetoric, where American Democrats politicians are painted as starlin. Exaggeration to the point of silliness.
I can’t remember the name but a quote from a labour politician from years gone by when asked if he would ban first class train travel, he said no “I plan to ban second class”
That is a much better representation of socialism rather than the historical attempt by you and others
You are right though about unchecked right wing politics being equally dangerous. This thought of yours brings you closer to my political position, I don’t support Corbyn labour or socialism, but I recognise the cruelty of the current government and think another term with the characters in position of power will be a step too far. There’s something wrong with a society which can’t recognise the contempt for its people Grenfell, windrush, universal credit & food banks etc etc shows.
"The best Government this nation has ever had was the Post war labour Government. The current Labour manifesto is the closest offer we have seen of a government prepare to do something similar."
The Labour philosophy seems to equate to make everyone equal, by making everyone poor. I d agree that capitalism unchecked is really bad, but how do you ensure that hard work is rewarded? All this talk of only taxing the rich sounds great, but that wont cover the cost of everything the Labour government say they want to do. I've saved all my life and as a middle income worker I've done ok, but I only remember the things that Labour have done that have really impacted me, like my previous post mentioning my final salary pension being frozen. What Labour seem oblivious to is the law of unintended consequences. Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell are both fanatics and in my opinion have a dangerous and misguided view of Human Nature and the World in general. I'm not sure what Dianne Abbots views are, because every time I've watched her she's come across as incoherent and slightly vacuous.
I am not racist but....
Lamtree you are bang right. Corbyn = the politics of jealousy. There is a equation Labour have never grasped-
Work hard
--------------
pay to much tax = why work hard.
The Tories get slated for some silly slogan printed on the side of a bus but Boris has never sat down with terrorists, appeased terrorists, made excuses for terrorists. Sided with every enemy of this country. The Falklands will be in grave danger should this communistic idiot and his cronies ever gain power. They will sell this country down the river at every opportunity only stopping when we are bankrupt full of migrants from around the world ( I am not racist but just think this tiny island can not feed the world ) and a total laughing stock.
I did support Labour in the Blair years but Labour now is very dangerous and untrustworthy outfit. More at home in sixties Russia. Putins man in Britain, Corbyn, must not be trusted to run a bath let alone this fine country. Rant over GL all.
Yes the monster raving loonies are well represented.
Was thinking of getting the Monster Raving Looney Party, oh no they are allredy well represented.
Let's go back to having the royal family, oh that won't work eigther, we could try the American path, oh no that's got some problems at the moment as well. What about the Skywalker party, that might work...
3rd option might be best solution right now given the deeply flawed 1st and 2nd options however a headline position of 'we will revoke article 50' is hardly the way to get sufficient support for that to be realistic.
A lot of strong views regarding Mr Corbin and his politics, he is yet to get into power so at the moment has no track record in being PM, be that good or bad. But Mr Boris has proven he is untrustworthy, goes back on his word at any point, will say anything to get people on side, and found guilty of suspending the people's voice, the House of Commons. Perhaps we need a third way...
Quite amusing but absurdly biased and silly. I could send you plenty about corbyn but I know you won't believe anything critical of your hero, so I won't waste my time.
Mickey1 - can you not read? Or do you have difficulty understanding the written word?
