I'm too addicted to risk so i took a punt. I wish i did some trading over the past 2 weeks but was thinking i might get stung should they have released good news.
Hay Malta, yeah another week is no bother, it will be interesting to see what happens if by the end of next week we still have no news. I think some would rather free up the funds than wait but as long as the price holds at £1 it's really of no issue. As for me, I’m going nowhere. I assume you and Kamel are still holding?
Hi Crooks, I still think the odds on a deal will be struck. "Within coming weeks" i would guess up to 4 weeks otherwise they would of used the term months. They have until the end of next week.
Fair amount of sellers today. The wait must be telling on some.
Well, I suppose that "coming weeks" is a pretty vague phrase although it's hard to believe that the author of the statement would have used such a phrase if the timetable was expected to beyond two months otherwise it would have been termed coming months. As it has now been three weeks already; surely the wait for an update cannot be far off. A bidding war would be fabulous but it just does not feel like that is the case. If there was a scramble between bidders I'd expect them to be a little more vocal in the interim. The complication and possible delay may surround a sale to one or more parties if the business is not being sold as a whole. I suspect the launch of Pokerstars' Sportsbook recently was a pretty meaningful move by Amaya to force a 'price chipping' exercise. Shouldn't be too much longer- as long as you do not die of boredom in the meantime. Kamel
This share makes watching paint dry or grass grow seem like a thrill ride. How much longer are they going to run over the offers? I only hope the delay is due to a bit of a bidding war going on. Could we be that lucky? Probably not.
I could say what's new - only kidding.
Sadly been back from holiday for over a week now. As you say, no news –nothing much to say.
could you take your wiffle waffle elsewhere please folks. I'm only kidding! - it appears that we are in the midst of a news vacuum and wiffle waffle is all we have. crookman - are you around or still on holday?
Interesting as usual. However, Diabetes2 is not as easy to treat especially on NHS who are relustant to prescribe Victoza particularly the max dose of 1.8, Forzega, or the right sort of Insulin. It is tricky to get it right and NO NHS specialist clinics whatever they say to the contrary. I bet Teresa May went private for her Type 1 and Steven Dixon on Sky News for his type 1!
Bruce I see they are quoted in Euros so maybe another excuse for my broker to skin me on the exchange rate lol hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Beg pardon Bruce definitely zero to pay on bpty but I think it was the Irish tax on divi at dgo I could have reclaimed and not the Irish stamp duty on the actual purchase. lse is indicating yield at Ryanair is zero per cent but not always accurate that column? I think O'Leary is a bit like Ashley and people love to hate but obviously a shrewd operator. Anyhow if I decide to take the plunge there I'll let you know on the appropriate bb. atb
As you know I stayed up 7th May al night to watch the Scottish coverage. He was the only one who focussed on others in his team being losing their jobs. What a decent human being. Aye wha's like us indeed.
Thanks for another very interesting post. It has been a quiet week on the bb so not sure if the traders have decided to sit this one out or if they have cashed in thinking their money could be put to better use during a wait which might go on for a bit. Maybe some want all cash and not a mix of cash and shares. I first started trading here towards the end of last year and liked not having to pay a chunk of stamp duty without getting involved in an Aims share or spread betting/cfds. I am going to do a dummy buy on your Ryanair to see if I would be paying Irish stamp duty. I remember when I bought dgo and was scratching my head wondering why I had incurred double stamp duty lol. I could have claimed back the Irish duty but I'd rather not have to go through any rigmaroles as life is complicated enough. Dreadful weather for fetes and galas. Can't remember a worse start to the summer for many a year. I had a discussion about charitable causes on another bb with one guy feeling strongly that certain causes should be funded wholly by the government and not be relying on charitable donations. Not sure if the nhs was one but I commented along the lines that, with all the medical advances theses days, any govt. is going to struggle to fund it fully. Some items in the new children's wing of the new Glasgow hospital definitely being funded by kind external organisations which not necessary to treatment will make their stay and that of their parents brighter. Think there is free wi fi for all so no need to suspend trading if an in patient there. I think the govt would need to raise income tax lol maybe introduce stamp duty for spread betting and cfds and capital gains tax for the former lol that would cheer up my bb stalker lol to give more funds for the nhs to do stuff better than they do. No cure for diabetes yet and type 2 on the rise. The British diet these days? But things like diabetes and underactive thyroid easily treated. Spare a thought for the humorous man of the night of the lang skean dhus. Hope Murray has not lost the momentum after the storms. atb.
Hi my lovely. Have been staying in London this week dealing with the Prof who sorts my wife's diabetes. Expensive but at least NHS now pays for some of the drugs. NHS is useless for this complaint. Strong buy? Well my reasoning is simple. Arbitrage. Admittedly it does not always work but it often does. Here we have a contested bid with a oner and a twoer.By no means certain but surely odds of better than evens. Rank is starting to look interesting now there is a decent free float and even Ladbroke. I am keeping an eye on bet-at-home (Italian) good chart over many years but weak lately. Spotted their amusing advert at Giro D'Italia. I expect you know I have 888, 32red, Sportech, GVC (very weak recently - amazing yield). I also like the look of Paddy Power. Got Ryanair recently up 10% in a month but IC says sell. O'Leary always understates what is happening. He is doubling fleet size and is having to lease planes this summer not having enough. Aer Lingus - could he spoil the party there. You bet your sweet bippy he could! I love the fact that Congress have banned Russian rockets and now find they need them. Putin runs rings round everyone. And as for FIFA - words fail me. I know - that is a first!
Thanks for a very thought provoking post. I was going to buy into bg as a possible way of getting cheap shell shares and then noticed the shell price falling back on its own. I have been holding shares in a few companies over the years when a takeover bid has come in. The high expectations of the holders have generally not been met but there has only been one bidder in those cases. Not even worth trying to plough your way through the takeover code in my experience. Let's hope there is a decent premium on the price here for the long termers. Nerve- racking stuff for them given what happened at 888 earlier this year. atb.
QueenElvis This is not a strong buy at the moment although there has to be potential upside. This revolves around an as yet uncertain offer price and nothing else. Until 888 and/or GVC/Amaya actually confirm an offer price there shall exist a significant discount to the speculated £1.1m price tag representing north of £1.25 per share. The dangers are: 1.The potential "price chipping" of either or both the likely purchasers. 2. Bwin are now in weak position where they must sell. Any collapse in takeover discussions would be accompanied by a reversion to around 70p. The BoD must act in the shareholders' interests and without an alternative plan to create shareholder value they would be in an entirely untenable position. The purchasers know this. 3. Particularly with GVC - the approval of shareholders may not be all that straightforward. 4. The withdrawal of one of the bidders prior to the conclusion of a deal may be disastrous. On the plus side however a fortnight has passed since Bwin said that a decision would be made in the "coming weeks". There is therefore a window to make a relatively good return in the short term so it may be considered a "buy" although IMHO not a "strong buy" any longer. Good Luck and here's hoping for an early conclusion to the takeover talks. Kamel
Hi Bruce can you say more about why you think this is a strong buy at the current price. It was a great buy last month in the seventies and I was lucky to buy and trade a few when I was on holiday then and so Kamel and I will have done alright here Jacques with a divi thrown in. After the initial surge on the definite takeover news, this price has been pure pants. Not looking anything like a share at the centre of a takeover battle to me. In short, why is the price not higher.
If a deal did not materialise (unlikely) then this could be a recovery... http://www.pennlive.com/opinion/2015/05/pa_should_legalize_-_and_regul.html?utm_content=buffer483d0&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
Ignore. It don't mean a thing if you aint got that swing.
Anybody know what's happening with 888 share price? They are currently down 5%
is with my broker and will be credited to me today. Apology but no explanation given but my broker and not bpty to blame.
Thanks for interesting posts both. Was out most of today so wouldn't have rushed to spend the divi but it wasn't in my account anyway. Never had a divi from this lot before but usually divis from other companies make their way into my account by the close of business on the scheduled payment date. Was definitely approved at the agm. I'l check tomorrow again.
Is the other Gibraltar one GVC? Ironically I have GVC and 888. The latter has recently set up in Italy where I live and has had huge TV and roadside ads during the Giro D'Italia. Another counter worth looking at which is not on LSE is the Italian bet-at-home. A very strong chart for many years and pays a div. I also have Sportech, also 32Red
Don't give up on the sector there were three Gib Co's floated in 2005, there is still one left , which is ripe for takeover..
