Thanks for your post and you know I have the most respect for you...
But let me be clear none of us here claiming we know for sure what will happen to share price but I hope it is OK to speculate based on certain facts/news/economy/income growth etc.. what it might be ... it is called forcast doesn't mean it comes true 1000s of analyst on daily basis make forcasts on share price of various companies and it is not a guess work and it is not taken from the sky otherwise we should not really be here and doing any investment at all.
I am not going to repeat my arguments behind my predictions which i discussed not over one post but over many past posts from months back and of course revising as time progress......but despite that it seems Gary have better ideas and yet I am so eager to hear his analysis (not the best guesses) which would enlighten us all.
I don't invest based on guesses or my best guesses I invest based in numbers, facts, news, and forcasts and read properly reports and analyst views (which not all correct) and on that basis make my own investment decisions...
Analysts at Barclays for example consider £4.75 an appropriate target price for 2021 but I believe it will push above that and close to £5
So....
We may reach £5 this year or not but my predictions is as good as anyone one else who know and understand the company (not a guess work) so if Gary find that boring I like to hear more from him to enlighten us from different exciting angles ...
Zac thanks again for your post mate, I know you mean well

Thanks Zac and JSSR. Between you you’ve summed up the whole issue. The current high oil price is generating money in the bank. That’s great so far as it goes. But investors want and need either or both of (one) a significant increase in dividend or (two) confidence in the long term profitability of renewables. 16p a year will not entice people to pay more than £4 if they aren’t convinced that their capital is safe(ish).
Of course, from the bod’s point of view, a rise in SP at the moment is not desirable. Obviously they’d rather do buybacks at £3.60 than £4.50. So next Tuesday is maybe a bit early for any jam.

Down again
Tbh, imo, it’s a combination of factors, most notably, the Green agenda and the dividend being halved.
I can’t see the SP pushing on significantly over £4 without a material increase in dividends
"neither of you know what's going to happen here" . . . I've got news for you . . . nobody knows what the share price will be at the year end.
For me something has fundamentally changed with this share. I'm judging all of my holdings performance over a 2 year period (2019 to date) as judging performance over 12 months is meaningless to me. If I look at Brent crude prices Q3 2021 vs Q3 2019 there has been a (roughly) 25% increase in crude oil prices. Compare the share price over the same period and we're looking at a 29% decline.
What's changed? The dividend? . . . I'm not convinced that this is the key factor, although I maybe wrong. I'm learning towards believing that the market has re-rated the share price based on future projected earnings factoring in a 'green' transition.
What will I do? What I always do. I'll simply sit tight and hold. Probably until at least Q2 2022 or the oil price starts to head south.
Gary
Let me add i really liked some of your posts on funds ... which was in agreement to my investment strategy on funds and trusts ...
So your post today was really surprised me and now I am all ears to be enlighted about your view on BP and I hope it is certainly be educational and less boring than mine...
Let's hear it....
Thanks
Gary
Thanks for your very useful contributions to this discussions ... which added nothing (zilch) to whag we raised ....which suggest to me you don't have a clue mate
Coming here and say our posts are boring without providing any values , or counter arguments s truly shows a lack of understanding of what is going on...
You have better ideas ?Why no share your wisdom with us?
Not sure how much indepth understanding of this stock you have and how much you can shar with us wihich will be less boring ?
All my predictions and analysis tod date ahave been accurate if people have enough time and paitients can go back and look what I said back since 6 months ago and how accurately I predicted everything to this point .
So you coming here and throwing your dummy really makes me think what you really have to offer which is not boring ?!! Accurate , worth reading , ?
can't wait to read your next post to enlighten us all to new level of understanding!
Thanks
Gary59
According to stockready1 it's not a best guess it's a guarantee!..£5+ by Christmas.
Stockready & Annalisa, neither of you know what's going to happen here so please stop posting your 'best guesses'.
Its all getting a bit boring.
Anna
Can't help you mate
You are not with it and seems you are off the radar by miles of what is going on here
It is not about what we like it is about understanding the upcoming NEWS and oil prices and inflation and their effects on share price
If you truly think we stick at 400 by Christmas you have not done your research... or not underhand fully the impacts of profits BP. Will be making which adds to billions of $$$ well above the analyst expectations
Fund managers are back
Expect a rapid rise and this is exactly the times to stay put and hold on to your valuable shares
It is not a dream mate, it is called DYOR
Can't help you more
I haven’t sold I’d love them too be £5
Tomorrow
Reality is the share price today
Anna
You are clueless and remain clueless and I let you to stay clueless
You absolutely have no idea
I understand you sold too early and now a bit twitchy to get back if you took a profit good on you but you still failed to understand the basics here and fundamentals behind my argument
I can't help you much but may be the time will while you keep staying out and watching this rise
That is what clueless usually do
Sorry to be blunt but sometimes you have to be blunt to help penny dropping (not for you)
GL
It will break 3.60 though it's just a restistance point
Pastyc
As I always said paitient needed
Don't be disappointed as we have seen nothing yet and that time is coming as I always said it will.
In no times this will be upper 400 after the shell results and heading towards mid 400 in no times closing to 500 by Christmas
IMHO
DYOR
Shell results on Thursday could be a big deciding factor here!
340 was too but smashed it on 3rd attempt
... seems a hard nut to crack!
With Brent at 86 dollars it's disappointing not to see the SP much higher.
