All the banks on the Madrid Bolsa are down today. It’s not always the buying and selling of shares that seems to affect the price. If my maths are right then 100 million shares are only 0.06 % (1/162) of the shares issued. If my maths are wrong? Then I am sure I will be corrected.
Over 100 million shares bought ?big rise in SP on Tuesday.
There were 106,104 sold and 48,069 bought during the day and several million sold after hours.
Does this mean a drop in SP on Tuesday 8th or does it not work like that?
Had these shares for many years and seen the price drop to such a low Im keeping hold of them probably for sentimental value... Wondering when they will be worth just a £1 each.... Also..... can shares go into worthless value..???
When today🤔
Nearly 11 million shares sold today in one hit and the price doesn't flicker. Why?
Was it expected? Was it an institution or BNC themselves with new shares? Why no drop on that volume of sales?
Payout on the fourteenth
Not got too much of an opinion whether they pay a dividend 4 or 2 times a year but at least
Pay on time and on target. Still waiting for my pittance of a dividend to arrive in the slush fund.
Thanks for info
Ex Div 30/1/2019 and Paid 1st Feb, according to Financial Diary
Try the financial diary 📔 on this site 🤔
Anyone know next ex dividend date and also dividend date.
Divi should rise and share price should be at least NAV. Only nine times earnings paltry
Really it should be 💥💥💥
It can only be the Popular bail out, the €1 Santander spent relieved the Spanish Governments guarantee of replenishing Populars savings account customers of up to €100,000 per single account and €200,000 per joint account. Santander who though holding Italian government bonds are not that heavily exposed to them.
As a long term Share Holder, I can't help but be frustrated by the dip in price over the last year.
It was starting to look like a strong share, at +£5.00, BNC then go ahead and bail out Popular... give the ShareHolders a nominal dividend and away goes the price, nearly a -£2 dip in a short period of time.
I understand the markets are volatile and this isn't just related to BNC, but does anybody have a calculated reason as to why these shares are so low ? It's incredibly frustrating and by all accounts, BNC are improving in the global areas, the share isn't reflecting this.
I also read the article you quoted a while ago but for me it was a little vague and ambiguous; I did read an article that there was a proposal put forward for the AGM for two dividends, but to find if it was accepted I cannot? If you are correct in how you read the article and the proposal was accepted then that would explain the fall in the share price. It makes little difference to me but if one was a major investor / investment Co. then they would not be too impressed with loosing the interest on the first and third quarter of the year’s dividends, which equates to a six months loss of interest. I have for three of four times, tried to ratify the contents of the article that came via Reuters on the internet but without success.
Footnote.... For those too young to remember what interest is? It was a bonus of anything between two and five percent or even more, that one would get for depositing their money in a bank.
Thanks doylee !!
That's a new one on me you must still be able to drip. To get round the sheisee tax???
Dividend will be in cash from 2019 and paid twice yearly - see https://www.reuters.com/article/us-santander-shareholders/santander-ups-dividend-but-is-heckled-over-popular-acquisition-idUSKBN1GZ1AR
thanks jim, interesting article, fingers crossed for an equitable exit from the EU.

This is certainly at least part of the reason.
Struggling to understand the reasons for the price gyrations with BNC (that could be code for 'down again'!). No RNS and down 3.6%, based on what? I know the overall market is down and 'twitchy' but I have always assumed BNC is as safe as any of the banks with a wide South American and European base. Any thoughts or knowledge?
Doylee where have you seen that ??? The end of quarterly dividends??
