I bought some in the slump at 145p.....seems the market is beginning to feel the amount put aside for loan losses may have peaked and there is quite a war chest available now on the books .....judging by the Barclays comment and result today

Trouble Is The Banks Are Not Lending And Tightening Lending Standards ......... But The Main Problem Is US GDP Is So Low And Revenue Falling They Have To Print Just To Pay The Interest ....... Without Fiscal Spending The "Fed" Is Powerless In The "Real" Economy.
well the fact that they keep creating scrip divs doesnt help...and ulta low interest rates fo 3 years..if the FED is right..will continue to hit their earnings ...so..they are a bit hemmed in at the moment...poor revenue inat one end, and loan loss risks at the other end ...not the best business to be in right now
BNC shares soon to be 'junk bond ' status.
It's the lowest these shares have ever been.
Remember the financial crisis these shares were selling at £4 a go.
So the question is 'how low can BNC shares go'?
I thought the US Fed were merrily buying up US Corporate debt and US Treasuries and shoving it on their balance sheet?
Whilst US Governmen Debt issue is high he notion that the FED isasying it sees interest rates at rock bottom until 2023 suggests that ianterest payments will remain somewhat steady.
The situation today is that they can have, for example, 30% more debt on their books than 10-15 years ago...but as a result of rock bottom interest rates are actually paying, in relative terms, less than then in interest payments for it... so it is cheaper to borrow more money now, than less money then...

" Poker - again proven what a joke this bank is. On Friday customers couldn't access their accounts. Perhaps it's you who can't understand a €13B loss"
Cheapsharesboy
Sometimes a car manufacturer has torecall a car for an issue, sometimes a an internet provider goes offline, sometimes Sainsbury runs out of bread or baked beans, sometimes trains stop because of a signalling problem, sometimes there is a power cut because of an issue at a local transmission point
The idea that any bank is a joke just because there is a technical issue that puts them offline shows just how out of touch with reality you seem to be.....life isnt perfect...no matter how much you expect it to be
The loss was largely because of an impairment charge of €12.6 billion, mostly relating to goodwill .....and the reason that BNC will be volatile will because of its exposure to the worlds economy and the effect of the US treasuries bringing interest rates so low....
BNC is if you like a barometer on the where investors see the weold economy going..for better or for worse
In the next 2-3 months it is likely to be volatile based purely on the movements of the US Dollar and the market volatility towards the outcome of the US election
It isnt so much to do with anything BNC are doing themselves.....it is the outside world with which they have to deal with
Welcome to the real world
