Love the reaction to my find haha
Honestly couldn't believe it when I went on the Eskom website, typed in BESS, and found that bulletin had been published the same day (on a Sunday of all days!)
faramog - what World Bank money are you on about sorry? (Genuine question)
I thought the money from the world Bank had to be committed before year end... I take that to mean a decision and orders placed.
Might be wrong, but that was my recollection from a while back
Looks like ytr123erg is not even on the news. lol.
Don't respond, and change the thread title if need be.
Amazing stuff :)
If the closing date is 11th September when do you think the announcement will be ?.
SO 11th September onwards is when we find out the winning bidder.
How much Vanadium will be required for that? Lets all keep our fingers and toes crossed and hope the majority of us our rewarded for our patience.
very good but that is only the start - I expect to see tenders for about another 520 MWh and that is just to meet the revised 840MWh capacity of Phase 1 of the Eskom BESS
You will see that Koekenaap is in the western cape so this is entirely consistent with the phase 1 plan described by BigBiteNow from 2018 here:- https://www.thebushveldperspective.com/blog/public-articles-1/post/bushveld-energy-eskom-battery-mandate-2018-339
If you have a look for Skaapvlei, Vrerendal and Koekenap you will see that they all lie on the Oliphant's river valley and are therefore within about 15km of the 105.8MW sere wind farm, Eskom's largest wind farm in South Africa.
The good news is that there's another 10 wind farms that are larger than this in SA, all operated by independent operators under REIPPP projects ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wind_farms_in_South_Africa )
Woohoo ... that is really, really exciting stuff. How long have we been waiting? And now it begins! I have nothing more to add other than I'm almost dancing round the room. If we get this one, or the next one, or whatever, the fact it is finally moving is enormous news.
Great find Libero
