I know ... a really bad situation.. really equates to a 10p to us long term holders... and the share price drops 15p
That’s what I thought. But for all long term holders that are sitting on a significant loss we will have to pay tax for the privilege of receiving a further 15p reduction in share price - wheras if we were to have sold out completely we would not generate any tax liability!! Stinks
but the rent
Treat as dividend income.. not capital return...
Trying to find out how the special dividend would need to be dealt with wrt personal tax returns. According to the runs from Eli Chanin he says “the payment of this special dividend represents a major return of capital to investors”. According to HMRC a dividend can be categorised 2 ways; either as a “return of capital dividend” or a normal “dividend income”. I called the NOMAD Stockdale Securities who said it should be treated as normal dividend income! when I called CEO office I was told it was a “special dividend paid from retained earnings”. I am a long term investor sitting on a significant loss as was no anticipating incurring any tax liability (capital gains or dividend) however it appears that if the dividend to be treated as “dividend income” then it will need to be declared and tax will be charges at approx 30%. So not only did the share price reduce by 15p after the dividend was paid but we now have the obligation to pay tax on the divi. I hope I am looking at this incorrectly so if there is anyone that can clarify whether tax impact on this can be avoided I would welcome all comments??
Wow I thought I was losing a pile but your around four times my loss on this. Wish you the best
of luck along with all other holders on getting your investment back with interest
Yep
I presume that's a £480k loss?
480 K
"might be sitting on a rather big loss" That just about narrows it down to 99% of the people on here...1MSN must be now sitting a a six figure loss if his previous statements regarding his holdings are true!
I get the impression he might be sitting on a rather big loss, I've been there and as we probably all know it can make you a little paranoid and bitter.
He forgets this traded down to 18p a few years ago.. with twice the amount of cash..
Don't think he likes you 1MSN!
Fool comes to mind..
this AIM........lack of immediate news flow = drift lower
look at the volumes, they tell the true story, nothing has changed
if you cant wait for FID then sell, simples
Few more years more likely!
Yup.
And pretty much what we expected post the excitement of the divi. No reason to panic in my opinion. This share just continues to test the patience of us poor PIs who remain in the dark.
True value will hopefully prevail eventually, provided FID finally gets approved.
Now I'll go back to sitting on my hands for a few more months! :)
It looks like its back to 25p old money
Couldn't agree more skiwizz,
I would say that the last person on here that would be shorting this share would be 1MSN
I too reinvested my £8500 from dividend in the hope this dog would come better
How wrong I was, cannot believe just how fast the share price has fallen,DIRE
You obviously haven't been here that long if you think that 1MSN is short on Bowleven, you couldn't be more wrong. He has been on here a long time, unlike yourself, and your use of capital letters makes you seem like a desperate ramper looking for a quick buck on their recent investment. I suspect I will be here long after you have bailed, out of curiousity, when did you first invest and at what price?I'm guessing 9th Feb at about 18p.
We all agree BLVN is worth a lot more.. but as I said 3 weeks ago this will trade to 10p ( old 25p ) and sit...
It may even trade down to 7p but hopefully value will come out.
After foolishly reinvesting my dividend I was rather hoping for news of a quick sale and the end to years of misery! Sadly not and the continuing slide in SP is very depressing. Looks like we have many more months of continuing stagnation.
How will it all end? I wonder if COC know themselves or whether they are as in the dark as the rest of us. Anyone know what their average is? It doesn't look like the head honcho will be getting his free shares as I can't see 45p ever!
SP is going slide ways again....
When are they going to sell the company???
