Decent results today http://www.risersandfallers.com/2016/03/08/paddy-power-betfair-plc-reports-double-digit-revenue-growth/
Hi all, The RNS is full of articles from banks/funds but I don't know what they mean. Is that all buys? Why is there so much volume? is that because it entered the FTSE100? My shares are doing ok but wondering if I should sell now... How far will it go....? or could it tank and settle at a lower price?
by Daniel Grote on Nov 30, 2015 at 05:00 Citywire Betfair momentum ‘compelling’, says Deutsche Deutsche Bank has upgraded Betfair (BETF) ahead of its merger with Paddy Power, arguing the online betting firm boasts ‘compelling’ momentum. Analyst Richard Carter hiked his target price to £42.00 from £26.50. The shares rose 1.8% to £36.65 on Friday. ‘We are upgrading our recommendation to “buy” as we think (i) Betfair can grow revenues / profits materially above the market growth rate following the relentless focus on product innovation couples with brand investment over the past 24 months, (ii) we see upside risks to forecasts and (iii) the upcoming merger with paddy Power offers the ability to leverage higher returns on incremental investment given the material increase in scale,’ he said. Carter hiked his estimates of revenue growth in the company’s sports and gaming divisions from 10% to 15% for next year and 2017. ‘However, given the group’s market leading products, rising marketing budget of c.£120 million, and UK market share of only c.12%, we think our 15% growth assumption could prove conservative,’ he said.

MY21: You've been right on the money with Betfair for months - well done! I myself use the Betfair platform to play the horses, and have done since they took over Flutter way back in 2002, yet even I didn't see this one coming. And I'm an avid disciple of Peter Lynch and his "One Up On Wall Street" method. I should have been riding this favourite with a "double-handful".
many may be watching this share for more news , still nice buying even though some may be taking profits
Betfair set fair: The professional deformity of stockbrokers is optimism. So it is noteworthy when a couple of firms go cold on a hot stock such as Betfair, as Numis and Panmure have done. Analysts more typically insist a company is a screaming buy until the shares crater and the finance Director absconds with the petty cash. Then they drop it from their coverage list. Betfair has neither of those problems. A mastery of mobile betting rooted in its origins as a tech-driven betting exchange have helped the group increase underlying profits before tax 55% to £95 million in the year to April. Tough-minded Chief Executive Breon Corcoran has built a business whose valuation of more than £2 billion exceeds that of Ladbrokes. Numis’s Ivor Jones, meanwhile, wears the badge of honour of sticking a “reduce” rating on a company chaired by Gerald Corbett, who chairs his employer too. Must make for interesting chats in the lifts.
Yes, wtf is going on? Wanted to lay Mon Brav 6/5f in the last race @ Redcar not to place. Fortunately had the winner, Haajes with Coral and Fred @ 10/3 but returned 9/2 BOG with these firms. Do a lot of my betting elsewhere now because of this & BF need to find a way of counteracting this, together with lack of liquidity until the race time off is near.
Betfair suffering a DDoS attack
Well here we go. It all kicks off Tuesday. Sadly it will be the great AP Mcoy Cheltenham swan song . Finest sportsman there has ever been arguably in every sport (he's was/is that good) Anyhow. Looking forward to festival. Going on Thursday and Friday. Gold cup. I still think Bobs worth is over priced at 16s. If he had the great AP on his back he would be 6s. Gonna back him EW Fancy Mijhaar in the coral cup. He's ran on soft ground the last 2 races and he hated it. He will have his favoured ground and is very well handicapped. Next sensation in the grand annual same reasons as above. The new one in the champion. Faugheen making the running will set the race up for him I'm convinced. Jezki will defo be in the mix And my big outsider of the week. Theatre queen in the Kim Muir challenge cup.33s. Quirky little bugger. Buggers about at the start and it could all be over 5 seconds after the race starts. But if he breaks on terms then it's game on as he's slick and jumps like a stag. Gl all.
Above and Bre-yond: Staying power over the hurdles is as much the mark of a champion in bookmaking as it will be at next week’s Cheltenham Festival. Betfair showed pace in the novice division, almost went out to grass, and has now stormed back in race-winning form with a 15% upgrade to full year earnings guidance to £113 million-£118 million. Chief Executive Breon Corcoran helped kill a cheeky bid at 950p per share from CVC in 2013 by threatening to leave. The shares have more than doubled since. The marketing-savvy Irishman has diversified the business beyond its origins as an online betting market. That proved to be a niche business rather than a world beater. The company has gone from a long shot to a favourite. The tic-tac men known as brokers have narrowed odds from a forward earnings ratio of 12 times in 2011 to 28 times now. But the company remains an interesting punt, given the weakness of Ladbrokes. And remember, Lombard’s naps are as much of a cert as any you’ll get next week at a Cheltenham bar from a bloke from Connemara
I was just thinking about that one, jamie pointed out it had doubled in the space of a few months and none of us noticed it,only fifi had the sense to buy them at 40p,dunno what she sold um at though. ok dude, struggling since the oil drop, but who asnt. hope your lad gets your good looks by the way.lol.
looking at the bet chart,it seems you guys were sat on a gold mine and didn't even realise it,typical uh.
How's it going mate? Long time no speak. Not posted for a while, how's your luck?? I'm guessing you might have done alright on the tennis lately? Had no real decent wins to talk about tbh. Middlesbourgh cost me a decent 5 fold the other week but other than that I have kept me purse shut lol. All changes next week thou with Cheltenham starting. Can't wait. Convinced the champion hurdle favourite faugheen will set the race up for the new one. Many clouds for the gold cup and a few others I will call up over the weekend. Hope you misty/Phil and co are doing ok. Obviously pleased with BET. Always believed in the format and even now can't belive its never been taken out by a Russian or an Arab ( pardon the pun) . Still has the exclusive of an exchange and is waving at its rivals. LAD sat on betdaq and done nothing is a disgrace.. CLIN. Hoping for a simalir story there. Have a big investment in them now and similar to when I first bought bet (£6.65 by pure luck I hasnt to add ) I'm in near the 52 week low. Lost 8k on Lond. And still down on GKP (ave 64p) but will dump that as soon as it hits 60p. Hope you wasn't in AFR ? Can't remember but I think you told me you don't trade oilys? Well you must be quids in then since we last spoke lol. Anyways. Will post weekend for Cheltenham. Will be backing QPR against Everton next Saturday. BTW Hearing strong rumours that Sir phill green is ready to make an offer for the club (Everton). He's best mates with ken wright as well.
Betfair buys U.S. horse-racing network for £47 million: Betfair, the betting exchange business, has bought an American horse-racing television network, for just over £47 million.
Advertising and marketing for the new colossus cash out pools starts soon Unbelievable revenue awaits as this offers cash out. This company will be valued at 2.5billion by year end .. CVC slipped up big time, offered £950million and its my understanding 1 billion would have done the deal. To late now.
I have just come across @snortingxchange on twitter which has some incredible stuff about Betfair. If you hold the shares it`s essential reading.
Betfair shares have soared 37% this year: This year has been the tale of two different gambling businesses. On the one hand there is the old establishment made up of Ladbrokes and William Hill, both of whom have seen their shares fall in 2014 by 35% and 11% respectively. The old guard has suffered from the higher costs of a large high street store estate and the government targeting fixed odds betting terminals, a main source of profits, which have been labelled the “crack cocaine” of gambling. On the other hand, online gambling platforms such as Betfair have seen their shares surge more than 36% higher this year. The business has a much lower cost base and benefits from volatile markets and big sporting events. The World Cup may have been fairly miserable for the England team, but for Betfair it was fantastic. Revenue was up 26% to £237.6 million in the six months to the end of October, and pretax profits more than doubled to £67.3 million, when compared with the same period last year. The company said that even excluding the World Cup effect, revenue was up 12%. Management increased their expected full year earnings to about £100 million. Betfair had £271.4 million on the balance sheet at the end of October, prompting an increase in the interim dividend by 50% to 9p per share, and a special cash return of another £200 million to shareholders. Betfair £14.86. Questor says “HOLD”.
Great results and a 9p interim is welcome!
Went last year. Amazing day would recommend to anyone would also recommend sole power the worlds best turf sprinter in the abbaye and tagroodah in the big one, age and filly allowance make her very hard to beat. Gl all
Going to stick me neck on the line and call the underdog to cause a massive shock. Yep here goes England win !
