More tree planting planned, leaving the chainsaw behind this weekend mate!!
If we're still around we'll be moaning about selling too quick and buying too early and getting cut on falling knives!!!!
oh yeah, out the way of all the squabbling............ did you get sxx the other day,i know it shot up the next day,so i guess youd after be lucky if you bothered to slap a limiyt order in.................................
loads of trees around here m8,some ancient birch woodland near me aswell, full of bluebells and wild garlic...............
yeah,we're all getting old now, wonder what we;ll be all posting in 20 years time.lol..the mind boggles,a few more booms n busts by then,no doubt...and some more scarey tales to tell.......... hi fifi, hope youve got that house renovation sorted, arils a joiner if you need any jobs doing,or philski,if hese around..................... up at 4.30,so if i nod off?...nite...........
Any work this w/e on the woodland? We could go and visit Langyy in his S****horpe residence..
Sad story there mate but I bet he enjoyed the buy in price despite the outcome.
I keep an eye on the annual yield from current main acc holdings as a base mostly of stuff I don't sell but I'm always tinkering around the edges to try and increase the annual yield. The best share is one which has a rising yield and a rising SP...bp was that but not as much now but still holding big time. I think barcs is another as it should be 3 quid and if it pays 11p next year it probably will be? AA I think we're all astute on profits as we've seen them evaporate so many times so we take that judgement without believing the dream?
actuall,i was reading it all just before bathtime,i didnt know huggs was still around until then,i lost a similar ammount to u up till thursay,i expected it though, with heavy commodities going down most of the week, when will the miners get back ito faviour with the markets?.....aka metal prices.lol....... noticed youd had a bit of our luck aswell ariel, suprised hoc went as low as it did,my mml suffered the same, abg?baffles me as well, that one as production costs more than the gold price,it should be falling off a cliff, youd think....... james>>a guy at work bought british steel shares when they nearly went bust,3p he got them for and sold them less than a year later for 80/90p i think,he put 10grand in???,but he died of cancer two years ago,his 20 year old girfriend is loaded now(dont think he had any family.......... (sorry for the long post lego,i know u hate long posts,lol,lol..)/////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\///\\\\//\///\/\/\/\//////\\\\\\///////\\//\/\//
Sorry to intrude. I just thought I would say hi to Lego since our paths never seem to cross. So Hi Lego. Reading here is like the deep, deep comfort of the FTSE after the hurly burly of AIM to misquote an old actress:))) All posts rec. See you around .xx
I suppose that I realised long ago that to buy and sell at the precise moment is impossible..sometimes you can get it almost right but the main thing is to make aprofit....but you have to take those profits. .. and dont be to greedy..
I believe in divs and gut instinct mate. Divs provide a security blanket if they don't move the right way as well as income. Gut instinct is that moment you chuck your hard earned into the abyss.
you have to believe in something.. Me? I just talk to the trees. .but what I dont understand ( and Im not knocking it is abg, still quite strong while all other goldies are weak, to say the least...
Vog only a few as haven't added recently! Mwana loads as I have added loads fall into recovery plus embryonic in some ways...problem comes with reading a website and starting to believe!!
Yes. . But you still have vog & mwa, brave new world. .
In the time it took to compile that post there's a new subject I see? Some up,some down, overall slightly down on value but up on hope factor!!!
Well mate I'd say there are three types of share gains that dreams are made of. Firstly the spike, the ultimate being the tulips but all I know of that is in the Wall St film. Secondly something embryonic like an explorer finding some,I don't follow them nowadays but I did play around with gulf keystone in single figures which makes you wonder on the if's or maybe buying something like Vodafone when it was just an idea?! Thirdly there's the big recovery one, best example in living memory is next which my late father often went on about his mate who bought a load at 6 or 8p when they were priced to fail...imagine that with divs reinvested?!!! Truth is we don't live in dreams and any of the three that went beyond our realistic aspirations would be whittled down and sold off chasing the 'next' one with the proceeds?
At least Langyy can still afford to run a bath..
Glad im not the only one.. Its starting to pish me off a bit
I got spanked as well
did you kind gents have a good week,i had a terrible week,metals/gold didn't do to well all week,so I got spanked, was down about 5%,but today thr kissed me on the butt.lol...still down tho.......... off 4a bath..........
great recovery plays though, them teetering on the edge, then they get bailed out with a finance deal, talv cud be next........yep,placings.lol..aim would be finished without them rascal things........... wish ide bought a shed load of Thomas cook or thorntons, woooooo, that hindsight thingy again.lol..it keeps copping up in my minds eye when dreaming about yatchs/lambo's and monte carlo holidays..................
Well rok and Jarvis spring to mind too and yell was quite a chunky one plus rbs might as well be if you kept any pre-crash,the rock,Bradford and bingley,hbos....yes mostly banks I guess. Mind you I've a few tiddlers hanging around on my sipp with zero value....how annoying is that! Might ask my broker to move them into a newly created graveyard account!!
weird innit, the worst recession in living memory and you don't hear of many comps biting the dust, but in the early eighties ,around the miners strike, there was loads of um,and 3mill out of work?..... a few banks and woolworths, cant think of any other big comps.................
Of course! It reminds me of all the innuendo around a certain support services share that went pop a year or so back called Connaught!!!
