You would imagine their being a ‘no publicity’ clause in the contract which would prevent Avacta from giving a running commentary.
This tweet suggests they don’t want test details accidentally falling into the public domain:

Will they test that virus is also neutralized within the cassette. Wasn’t that a reason for delay and extending the time taken.
Interesting that usability is tested, The think someone mentioned that but experts shot them down.
Thanks. I'm wondering whether there will be an after hours announcement on Friday too. There was a brief mention in the D Tel a few days ago that Boris was due to speak Friday although saying it was to be brought forward - i.e. to yesterday. Could he still have something else to unveil!
Interesting paragraph at the bottom of the second link referring to the products currently being evaluated / validated by the expert panel...
2. ‘This includes a number of Point of Care/Near Patient tests that are in the final stages of in-service evaluation. The results of this will be published in due course.’
Bubba just linking RNS with gov behaviour
Probably because protocol is finished for first 3 tests and results about to be released.
Let’s hope:)
Oh, and LSTM. Mustn’t forget them
I suppose we need to be listed on here at some point... so worth watching
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/assessment-and-procurement-of-coronavirus-covid-19-tests/lateral-flow-devices-results
It’s all as clear as mud. Assessment at Porton Down, Falcon, Condor, Pigeon, Wombat....
Incidentally, the first LFD on there is listed as saliva, but I can’t find any reference to a saliva test by that company, but loads of references to a swab test that is being used in India.
That all fits together very convincingly but I am curious as to why the protocol dated 15th August was only released today? Any thoughts @Energyshares, anyone?
Hopefully we are one of these ones: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/assessment-and-procurement-of-coronavirus-covid-19-tests/coronavirus-covid-19-serology-and-viral-detection-testing-uk-procurement-overview#fn:2
What phase*....damn autocorrect
Superb post ! Thanks for the link. One question though, how do we know whether phase of Avacta are in ?....or are we reading between the lines with all the RNSs aligning to the end goal?
Government released protocol today dated 15th August, but it all started a week earlier when LSTM started to evaluate our test ,I think this was when government realised they had the making of the “holy grail” We were then mentioned going to Porton Down that week.
Avacta then appoints Therapeutics Chief Development Officer.
So we off into Phase 1 & 2
Then phase 2A
Protocol
Phase 2A
For those tests that pass phase 2, an assessment using 3 seasonal coronaviruses will be carried out to identify any cross-reactivity.
Then we bring in bigger lead manufacturer.
2nd Sep RNS
Abingdon Health provides innovative rapid testing solutions to a global client base and has Europe’s largest lateral flow test contract manufacturing capacity.
Authorities around the world are now looking to carry-out frequent mass testing to identify the most infectious people promptly in order to reduce infection rates and combat the coronavirus pandemic. That requires a highly specific test to minimize false positives which would otherwise overwhelm healthcare systems. The Affimer reagents that we have generated are very specific to SARS-CoV-2 antigen and we are confident of meeting and exceeding the clinical performance requirements for identifying the most infectious people.
So protocol asking
an assessment using 3 seasonal coronaviruses will be carried out to identify any cross-reactivity.
Big Al saying

9th Sep
Matt , Boris and the man running the protocol,Sir John Bell start mentioning
Pregnancy type 15 mins home use.
9th Sep
Oxford university hospitals Falcon and Condor set up new testing around country
We are in Phase 3
It goes quiet no news
Always moaning and the mortgage guy have their say. Still quiet.
Then this week I think Gov decide we have “Holy Grail” stage 3 results in.
Boris starts locking down again and guess what start mentioning the pregnancy 15 mins home test again so does Matt.
I think Friday is RNS day
and Boris saves the world day.
