Mercedes ’own factory team may soon be a memory only. According to F1-Insider, there is a complex process going on, as a result of which the German brand is giving up its own stable.
It all started when f1-Insider reported that Mercedes team manager Toto Wolfi was about to resign.
Stroll and Mersu are exchanging shares
According to the source, Wolff is resigning from his current position, but he will still remain on the stable’s payroll, taking on the role of internal observer as his new role, also remaining a member of the stable’s board.
Wolff still owns 30 percent of Mercedes\u0027 F1 garage, so the source of the background is a desire to build new stables Gin lowered their own role.

Since the beginning of the year, the parent company Daimler has said that it will have to take major austerity measures to balance its finances. Although the successful F1 project has brought it much-desired positive visibility, the continuation of competition has been a headwind in the decision-making bodies.

According to the source, Mercedes would be willing to sell its stake in the stable to billionaire Lawrence Stroll, who is currently running a stable called Racing Point.
Stroll acquired a 25 per cent stake in the British car brand Aston Martin at the beginning of the year, of which Daimler already owns five per cent. However, the parties are changing their holdings so that Stroll will receive a German-branded stake in its F1 stable in exchange for Aston Martin shares.
Thus, Wolff and Stroll, who are good friends with each other, would be able to continue in formula number one with the current Mercedes team, perhaps with a new name. Wolff also owns tens of millions of euros worth of Aston Martin shares.
Daimler, in turn, could leave the F1 series as its own factory garage, saving on costs. The co-operation could continue to be close, but the stable would no longer enjoy the status of a factory stable.
Three scenarios are presented for the future of Stroll’s current team. The stable will either be merged with the current Mercedes, converted into a B-team or sold entirely to a third party.
Hamilton continues, what about Bottas?
Ok so a lot of talk about Stroll and Wolff taking over Mercedes F1 and using Aston Martin as the brand. So Hamilton would be in an Aston in 2021.
Mercedes would take a 30% stake in AML.l which would make a bit more sense of the AMG boss moving to Aston.
Interesting times but either way this stock will fly.
Would their be a conflict of interest with their fingers in both Mercedes and Aston Martin?

German media: 'Wolff and Stroll take over Mercedes F1 from Daimler together'
German media report that Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff will not renew his contract after the 2020 season and will take a step back. But that would not have finished his role in Formula 1, Wolff would like to take over the Mercedes team together with Lawrence Stroll.
Both F1-Insider and Motorsport-Total write that. Currently, the Austrian owns 30 percent of the Formula 1 team, Daimler owns the rest of the stock but would love to get rid of it. CEO of the car giant Ola Källenius already wanted to prune and now the company is hit hard by the corona crisis, the need is man.
There is no room for an own Formula 1 team. They would like to continue to supply engines to teams such as McLaren, Racing Point (later Aston Martin), Williams and the possible successor of what is still called Mercedes AMG. And there comes Toto Wolff and his business ingenuity.
Wolff as an advisor
F1-Insider announces today that Wolff wants to take a majority stake in the team along with Lawrence Stroll. Wolff would assume more of an advisory role in the new team in the background, similar to the role that Niki Lauda has always held at Mercedes. To get to the deal, a stock exchange would be imminent.
Stroll with a consortium currently owns about 25 percent of Aston Martin, for which he would like to have the 70 percent of the Mercedes team back in return. Daimler, which already has five percent of Aston Martin in its portfolio, would instantly gain more control over the British car brand.
The Germans have been released from the F1 team in this way and, moreover, they do not have to leave the F1 team in Brackley, F1-insider argues. What should happen to Racing Point, currently also owned by Stroll and called Aston Martin Racing from 2021, is still unclear for F1 Insider.
