I reckon I can beat that!
I went down with some kind of bug last trip to Asia.... last 4 days it was horrific, cleared up literally on the morning of flight home. Then it hit my wife as soon as we took off. Without going into details - 11hrs of hell, used every sick bag on an A380, the toilet was quarantined, they had to call ahead for a wheel chair to get her off, I had to loose my sh11t in customs to stop them quarantining her there, and had to carry her to the car. It's not even funny in hindsight!
How about this... was really ill in Thailand but did not want to go to hospital there. Went to airport and said stick me on the next flight back to London. Ended up on Binman Bangldeshi Airlines... cramped, no safety, food looked like entrails and not edible... put me next to a poor block with learning difficulties that kept on lashing out and hitting me!, no one spoke english... had to get off at check in at Bangladesh, also stop in france.. 12 hour flight took 23 hours. I would not recommend.
Worst flight ever 3300?
Can anybody beat this?
March this year one of the last flights out of Cape Verde escorted to the airport by guards all wearing masks after a holiday maker in our hotel Riu Karamboa had just died of Covid. The whole plane was coughing. Spent most of the flight walking up and down the aisle with a towel pushed to my face.
Funny now looking back. Awful.
Arsenals... ...what time should I make the reservation?
....and please bring my friend Pantarei too...

My arse is duck like at 66 y.0.
Matched to a face that would scare a rabid dog.
No worries here.
You - me sweetheart ??

That being said I mostly fly cattle class just not one to want to spend my money on a flight I’m happy to be Uncomfortable the same way I live most of my life XD to save a lot for my house deposit however over 14hrs to our house in Philippines across three Different flights with up at 15hr lay overs in Bangkok I certainly will be spending some money next time for a lounge pass a nice sleep on the flight!
Thai is lovely I free buisness return if you reach gold status which isn’t too hard plus massaged in the lounge. First class gets a buggy to the gate and lovely checkin area although they are pricy and no chauffeur service from my house unlike with emirates or someone
Not a fan of ba only bonus is it’s easy to earn avios with clubard and credit cards plus service discount. Not the best on board service and medicore cabins although the newer update cabin style looks a lot nicer! Prefer the asain and Arab flights I am a star alliance member personally Much nicer food and attention to detail in the service!
Ahh I see. I've been to Thailand regularly, my ex wife's dad lives there, seems a lot of ex military do! Thai silk is good too.
Singapore often with work the last decade - always with Singapore Airlines, fantastic carrier.
Only issue on long haul F1 weeks is that the teams block book the whole of business - so gotta either travel earlier or later than them (I'm often on a plane whilst the race is still going on) or sit at the back crammed between the photographers lol.
I'm currently really not missing the travel. But also going a bit stir crazy without it!
Paul
Merchant navy for 46 years - so flying to join / depart my vessels worldwide.
Singapore was the best for years !!
Cathay are up there too.
Emirates I flew for years to and fro to Bangkok - I lived Thailand for 20 years.
BA only due to working Lagos off shore (My final 3 years) and my company booked BA - so I would upgrade myself to biz - hence the Silver club.
However - the BA staff I have always found to be at a high level.
Cheers
JT
We get an extra years membership at whatever level we're on with BA @JTMacs..... altho I don't really see any real benefits. Service level not a patch on Emirates, Quantas, Qatar, Singapore - even Virgin are better.
I've been trying my hardest not to use BA anymore after they left me stranded twice in two years with pilot strikes. Lost 3 days work trying to get back from the US last year. But the issue often is that they're the only option!
Emirates are amazing, I'm an hour from Birmingham and they send a car to fetch me for free still!
I never invest in travel at all.... Rolls Royce is as close as I hold.
Mac
Am silver club member with BA - intend fly with Qatar as gain many more reward miles.
Is how I became aware of the connection prior to considering investing.
Your info short haul etc noted with thanks
Cheers

Marks is another retirement fund 4 years so hope it’s better by then and for the interest savings are paying this is a great way to chat to people. Never know might retire and become a day trader me you CC and WG going over to see Dmitri not bad to go for a meal and a laugh
andip - You have to bear in mind that BA have a large proportion of long haul. IAG also own Iberia and Vueling so with europe starting to open up to short haul the group could recover quicker than that. possibly.
Yeah, if you're in for the long term (and you got in recently) then there's still likely to be a strong upside long term. Reports from BA have quoted 3-4 years to get back to previous passenger numbers - so a long term hold should give you a good chance! It'll all depend on second waves, vaccine etc.
Having watched the SP drop from highs to lows in a few weeks back in March, it's certainly a scary time - keep an eye on things, they could go south very quickly again!
Hi andip
Thanks for the details it’s a long term hold for me anyway so should see profit in 4 years
TUI were exposed to Covid through a couple of channels - flights, hotels/package hols and also Cruise. There's also the situation with the 737-Max which hurt them before Covid.
Haven't looked up their debt/borrowing figures - but financially they don't look as strong as some others.
It'll pickup for them I'm sure - just maybe not in the short term. A lot of Tour operators/airlines are still a long way off their peaks in Feb this year, no doubt they'll get back there but it will take a while.
TUI may take a bit longer to return as, like I said they were exposed to Covid in more areas than others.
At this level, they may not be good for a quick buck (unless you hit the highs/lows and take some risks). I have a modest holding in a competitor and it's doing pretty well - but I topped up right at the bottom and averaged down. That stock sees similar swings on a relatively regular basis of +/- 7-10% at times so there is money to be made if you want to work for it.
Just my thoughts based on what I understand of the company & industry. DYOR.
Wish I knew made on Barcs so bought more TUI yesterday and it’s gone down since. Bought Marks in June at 1.15 and that’s sunk as well. just glad don’t have to sell so it’s only a paper loss at the moment as I have always said retire in 4 years so don’t need it till then and only put in what I can lose and still have a roof over my head

I agree with your comments as you and a lot of other people on here are more clever and clued up than me and I have always said this is long term for me but have topped up when I can If I make mistakes it’s my own fault and do not blame anyone big enough to admit it how’s the south coast it’s pizzing down here
I think that most of us that’s left here are in for the long term few dips/buy/sells along the way but we can still why we got in here in the 1st place. we have had a few battles along the way so god knows we deserve some good news but if after the Q2 results then so be it so GLTA
It would need to go to a hell of a lot more than £23 for me to make a million I can tell you lol :) )
I'm not miserable :) just wanting to make my millions in a few minutes like everyone else lol
Always said I'm holding till Feb (Unless it goes to £23 tomorrow, then I will sell lol)
