I was wondering the same. Coming around to considering a top up again, personally, as I don't see this should be as volatile as it has been recently. Yes, we're tied to the POO, but we do have some diversity.
why the collapse today ? Down over 50p on the back of a new contract. What does somebody know that we don't ?
on interest by one of the "big ones" to buy AFW
Amec paid way too much for FW, at just the wrong time, by most accounts. But yes agreed, it's a decent tie-up, which should pay off.
Even though the shares of Amec Foster Wheeler have risen sharply in recent weeks - there should be much greater growth to come in the next two years. As Harry65 says the company seems to have drawn a line under bad news. It is the good news likely to come which should encourage investors to be bulish in the medium- to long term. Amec acquired Foster Wheeler in January 2014 - when the industry was quiet. We have therefore yet to see the engineering benefits, which should help Amec FW when the market picks up (as indications seem to suggest for oil for the second half of this year). The benefits are that by acquiring FW, Amec can now operate across the full engineering spectrum - from upstream to downstream - and it's one of the few big players who can. Foster Wheeler also has a good name in the onshore world, in the middle east, and the states. Additionally, by acquiring Foster Wheeler, Amec has acquired an Indian office - essential in modern engineering. So there are many reasons to be cheerful as amec won work in the past against its rivals, and now is a much more impressive company. It's fundamentals are strong too.
With the results out of the way and most of the negative news factored in. i.e. divi reduction, earnings reduction etc hopefully this will start to regain its value and rise back up in the next 12 months
Any charties suggest a good buy back point?
Or even 6% up lol
Looking at the results I'd say definitely a hold but wtfdik
Looking at todays results I wish I had bought in here. I agree with the previous poster and was once an investor but sold at 935 down on where I should have been. Those wishing to take the risk this share looks like a good Buy for those with funds.
Could be an interesting results day on Thurs. Whilst it is most likely going to be a bad set of numbers the fact that the bank deal was done last week which gave the SP a major boost and they are winning substantial deals is probably what is interesting investors right now who don't want to miss out on the climb back northwards. It's already risen 100p in a week. This could be back up to where it was 12 months ago (1000p+) is things pan out. Looking interesting right now and all eyes on the divi. Most of the negative news is factored in. i.e. divi reduction, earnings reduction etc.
3million - interesting
1.5m buy just gone through- any ideas?
Could have had another £600 today
Tell me about it!
kenj lol Took some out today that were £600 in profit Will let the rest I bought around £5.20 sit and see what happens
Freddie, Dduck and myself are clearly losers now. The sp has risen over 50p since all three of us sold.
haha! no, lost a bundle on AMFW previously. refinancing completed - should see an uplift today? oil holding gains currently
No offence taken, Freddie. I do not usually post my trades. I was just re-emphasizing a point that I made earlier in reply to somebody suggesting that this was a good long term buy. I had said that with the way the markets were playing with this share, that is was an even better short term buy.
Ok apologies , i too have just sold out made 400 on 3 grands worth but there must be many on here still way down , it just seemed like a gambler only saying when he wins , if thats not the case im sorry
Freddie, I am not claiming to be a winner. If you read my previous posts you will see that I am fed up with holding these shares and watching them go up and down each day. So I decided to trade some, and the trades so far are winning. I am still holding a couple of thousand shares bought at an average price around £1 above the current sp, so am overall still a loser.
So looking at it we only have winners on this site , surely cant be a true reflection lol
From my post on 19th Feb: "I have just bought some more at 349p in my ISA account. I will sell these the next time the sp enters the 390 - 400p range" Sold today at 392.12p. Reasonable profit (£521) for a week and a half.
taken. not enormous, I grant you, but good to take them as they start to add up. leaving money in a couple of others will hopefully bring me the medium to longer term gains. still think with a recovery in the oil market by 2017(?) this could see some serious uplift for the more committed investor.
under £200 net from a trade buying in yesterday and selling this morning. certainly not life changing, but for the time in ok for me, and I finally made some money out of AMFW, rather than lose it. will look to get in on any retrace, but good luck to the longer term holders too. the results due out on the 10th might help to rerate the stock. was looking at the trading update from the 5th November earlier, and it said that refinancing of the debt would take place in the next six months, so should be by the end of the April. I imagine the market will be relieved to see this and should send it higher?
