Clueless
I assume that this is just an off day. Do not disrespect anyone for earning a living, for making sure people, in the midst of a pandemic, are fed and watered. To disrespect a person for putting food on the table of his /her family (an assumption, I don't know TRB's circumstances), a roof over their heads and clothes on their back is not the mark of a good person. Believe me, with that attitude, you wouldn't last 30 minutes in TESCO and not 30 years. People are respected for who they are and not for what they are.
Trb
Your pathetic hand your notice in if you don't like working for tesco although no one else would take you.
To trb
Yawn yawn tell us all about your big investments before you head to nightshift in tesco lol

Well done mate

Sadly no badge yet or even a thank you or well done .
The company may well of put a chunk into the pension fund but feel they don’t feel to much about the current staff. Jmho of course and may differ store to store ,
Good to see Leigh day win in there latest effort for equal pay for shopworker staff
So true Rosewell.
Wrong, absolutely wrong. The SP is what a manipulated market values the company at. It is nothing to do with the value of the company.
Equibrium,
"I always thought that the SP highlighted the value of the company."

I don't tend to reinvest dividends with the same company. To auto reinvest means accepting the price at the time. I may decide to wait for another time. Also, I tend to use dividends as risk capital and invest it into potentially higher growth shares, the proceeds of which go into safer shares.
Equilibrium,
It looks like you've answered your own questions!
Hi Equilibrium_TBC

Can someone explain what the share price is expected to be after Consolidation... I always thought that the SP highlighted the value of the company. If the number of shares is reduced then the value of each share goes up as the value of the company remains constant, there are just less slices of the cake! With the divi coming in I guess that would lower the value of the company bit this was due to a cash injection due to a sale of part of the company. Interested to hear what predictions are for the SP post exdiv and consolidation. My bet? £2.60. -22% of shares +22% Divi.
Investments within an ISA will not be impacted by any personal tax. But if you have taxable gains outside of an ISA then the bed&ISA could still create a tax charge for you. Once the funds are in the ISA then subsequent gains are tax free. Hope that's clear and of course DYOR. JJ
Yes you can ‘ISA wrap’ your investment and not pay any tax on any gain or on the dividends. £20,000 in total.
If you don’t do anything then you will be liable fir tax on any dividend value of 2k and above.
You will have to hope that the ‘spread’ is quite tight and the cost of dealing charges and duty is less than the value of any tax liabilities if that makes sense.
Am I right in thinking if I sell 20,000 And buy them straight back (bed&isa) There is no need to worry about capital gains tax?
Thanks in advance
I’ve bought in this week. From what I can work out, I am kind of in agreement with emprex. Taking the SD into account, and consolidation, looks like a decent long term hold for me. I think I will reinvest the SD, then put away and forget.
as a small holder here of the share,s , assuming £2.46 and dividend priced in, that would make a share price of £1.95 ish ex div ignoring future price consolidation , on that basis it puts the share price at below the covid lows last march or am I missing something , this would make the shares very undervalued
Stormer, the very recent share consolidation for AML has worked well, the value of my investment there is higher than before it happened. The last few days for AML have been bumpy but still my investment is showing 100% gain. There is a gambling element to TSCO which gave rise to me buying yesterday. In the coming week I may well sell for a 10% profit if its offered. JJ
Return of capital by scheme of arrangement when they sold their stake in Verizon and share consolidation.
It was like giving you money with hand and taking it away with the other.
Several years ago I got a special dividend and share consolidation from Vodafone and basically if I remember correctly it nullified the special dividend and didn't prevent the SP dropping long term only short term.
Hi guys, I’m not invested here atm, I was just reading about the upcoming special dividend and share consolidation. Struggling to see how you can’t benefit / profit from this ?
I love your take on the accounting scandal , that saw our Tesco share price halve in value . Perhaps it should be taken to the West End stage when Covid allows people to go out and mix again . Might just knock Mamma Mia off top spot , and could go on for years like The Mousetrap. The baskets got away with it , and the poor long suffering shareholders have been well and truly shafted . If Walmart are looking at us with a view to taking over , I for one would welcome it and vote for it.
Buffet wouldn't even do a stock split on Berkshire let alone a consolidation accompanied by an SD in name only
Very Interesting post...it had occurred to me this so called SD was akin to previous shennanigans enough for me to bail. It certainly seems out of place with the way things have been handled to date since the new broom, that was a major concern
