Woodstock
Early in the pandemic steroid use was not advised for the treatment of Covid precisely for that reason of the possibility of secondary infection
woodstock
What I have read it is related to steroid use which could include dexamethasone that supresses the immune system and diabetics are particular susceptible because high blood sugar allowing secondary infections like the black fungus to become invasive .Poor health systems like India may have a difficulty controlling environmental contamination of the fungus and other microbes in hospitals or they may be using the too high dose of Steroids knocking out the immunity
Woodstock I am not a medical expert its what I have read

If they had the vaccine then they are not idiots
If you have the chance to take a vaccine for the greater good of the country and economy... you take it. Discussions around why certain sections of society are suspicious are vacuous. If my daughter works in the nhs and is exposed to harm because some village elder decrees that the vaccine is ‘evil’ and someone falls ill after refusing the vaccine then my daughter should not be exposed to that risk!
Some better versed people that have a better understanding of medicine. Am I wrong in assuming that the black fungus attached to the Indian variant is a matter of concern ?. If the news coming out of India is correct, then **** .
For anyone interested, The health secretary is on Skys Sophie Ridge show tomorrow morning at 8.30am discussing the Indian variant of coronavirus.
Small studies in animals suggest that the variant could cause more severe disease. In a 5 May preprint3, a team led by virologist Pragya Yadav at the NIV found that hamsters infected with B.1.617 had more inflammation in their lungs than did animals infected with other variants.
Disease-causing potential
Gupta says this research shows that B.1.617 has enhanced potential to cause disease. But he cautions that “it’s difficult to extrapolate from hamsters to humans”, and says that data on disease severity in people are needed.
Gupta’s team discovered that neutralizing antibodies generated by the vaccinated individuals were about 80% less potent against some of the mutations in B.1.617, although this would not render vaccination ineffective, he says. The researchers also found that some health-care workers in Delhi who had been vaccinated with Covishield, an Indian version of the Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccine, had become reinfected, with most cases tied to B.1.617.
Similarly, the German team tested2 serum from 15 people who had previously been infected with SARS-CoV-2, and found that their antibodies neutralized B.1.617 about 50% less effectively than previously circulating strains. When they tested serum from participants who’d had two shots of the Pfizer vaccine, they found that the antibodies were about 67% less potent against B.1.617.
The B.1.617 variant does seem to have an advantage over previously circulating versions of the virus, especially in individuals whose immunity is waning a while after previous infection or vaccination

Do we know when they had the jab?
It is reported that at least 1 of the 6 hospitalised ‘idiots’ has had 2 doses of vaccine.
That's a bit harsh calling people idiots. It's personal choice to have the vaccine or not. Has there been any real proof they work, Don't you think numbers are down because of lockdowns and warmer weather. I'm waiting for a treatment that really works.
Idiots that’s why. And should not be allowed to take bed space
The dire SAGE warning that Indian variant could put 10,000 in hospital a day within months - which puts end of lockdown in peril and led scientists to BACK regional vaccine surges

Hospital bosses in Bolton have told The Independent they have seen a rise in patients being admitted sick with coronavirus, some needing intensive care.
The Bolton NHS Foundation Trust medical director said a majority of the sick patients had not been vaccinated but would have been eligible for the jabs.
Why are people not taking a life saving vaccine?

Perhaps Monday should be called off until we know more?
