I suspect RM is probably thinking of Stage 2 liftoff and certainly that will be a key moment. Currently scheduled for Sept 22 but on Scotgold time that would be at least St Andrew’s Day or probably a bit after.
There’s Phase 1 ramp up news and two exploration seasons before then though, so I don’t think you’re facing a news drought for the next 18 months yayay.
St Andrew's Day 2022? Good grief! I'll just do a quick count up how many times I'll have washed the sheets during this period of going back to bed yet again. I think when I first got trapped here was about the same time I was buying bedding from Brentford Nylons.
I see Marshall Badza has worked in South Africa,Mozambique and Zimbabwe, the same as myself.I wonder if he was known locally as Big Bad Badza.
Welcome back TB. Was beginning to wonder if you'd got in the way of the back swing. Lol!
Regards, R.
Marshall Badza is no longer mine manager.
As was said on the 10th of April in reply to Bellers ? of what's fallen ?
"Bellers , Mine Manager, you've waited long enough ."
In answer to the 'where did the axe fall' question, it looks like Marshall Badza is no longer mine manager. He could have left voluntarily of course, but circumstantial evidence/hearsay suggests perhaps not.
Jason Saint has been promoted (presumably) from Project Construction Manager to Group Operations Manager.
Here's a recommendation on Phillip Day's LinkedIn: "Few professionals I've encountered show the same technical mastery and communication skills that he holds." Well, what Scotgold desperately need is someone running the show to get a grip on any outstanding technical issues, and to start communicating properly. So that's encouraging, I guess.
Afternoon all.
Baz, where did the axe fall? Well, we haven't heard from that source since, so perhaps you've answered your own question, LoL!
Eck, having browsed the SG website a few times over the last few months, I think most of those job ads have been there some time, so I doubt that we can draw any new conclusions other than it appears that it's still 'game on.' One could argue that the company has not misled us, but just updated us on what progress there has been (not much or often!) and left us guessing in between in absence of PR.
Samson, I fear that you have taken on the former title (Mr. Grumble) of our Baz. I doubt that greed has driven you or others here that much, more a case of 'faith.' Faith in what? More in the project, which considering the fundamentals is quite justified. Faith in SGZ to deliver on that, well that's yet to be shown in the last (long!) furlong. Insanity may be in repeating the same thing and looking for a different answer, but not in looking for the same answer: a profit in the good times and not waiting for more. Even Yayay is coming around to that and I've practiced it 3 times on SGZ for modest profit over the years. More insanity follows..............ha, ha!
Bellers, hold onto yer drink! Yesterday on FB, it was reported that Tom Cruise was filming at Levisham Station on the North York Moors Railway for 'Mission Impossible.' Now if we could get them to Tydrum Upper Station to join forces with (according to bbcsctv) our 'own Lara Croft' (aka Charlie), then surely success for Cononish would be assured!
Dose of rubbish over. Do I hear cheers or jeers?
HAND to all here, R.
''Where is 1888 or 1872? '' Silence says it all.The fact that they ar e advertising for stalff should be a huge injection for the sp. £24k for miners ? Don't look for experience for pocket money.
They could certainly lay off the mine staff as the stockpile of ore must be large enough to run through the mill for a few months. Have they done a mass sacking and started again I wonder or are they preparing to expand onto phase 2?
That is interesting, Eck71. “Curiouser and curiouser!”
When new positions were referred to months ago, I did think that that was strange to the extent that we're not producing anything to sell so where was the money going to come to pay for them and for how long.
When the axe falling was referred to on this board I thought it must refer to these positions but if SGZ is still trying to fill these new positions they must be either very confident of the future (double-plus good) or bonkers.
If the former, where did the axe go?
Much more illuminating to speculate here than to read anything from the company itself.
Thats taken from their twitter feed ( 16/4/21) btw
Difficult to say with my tongue where it is but... We could always get some income by hiring out equipment as they seem to be having all the action here ... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EzFFLzZWgAAqMxP?format=jpg&name=small
Here's some news for you which doesn't seem to have been commented on yet. Scotgold is currently advertising for seven roles, plus 'several' underground mine operatives, all with an application deadline of the end of next week:
https://www.scotgoldresources.com/about-us/recruitment/
So, are we feeling glass half full or half empty about that? I think I'm a bit of both. It implies (and the company themselves have referred to this in RNSs, so not exactly a surprise) that recruitment to date has been a problem and they are under strength. It might also imply a clear-out of underperformers, at TB1872 has hinted at.
So what it says to me is that a) they are still some way from being up to Phase 1 speed and b) new management is taking decisive action to remedy that.
Given the absolute shambles of the last five months, I reckon the market would respond ok to the next announcement saying something along the lines of 'we've sorted the technical problems, but the incoming CEO has undertaken an HR review which has identified a number of staffing issues. The company is now aggressively recruiting in the market to address legacy underperformance and understaffing.'
Very hard to decipher the trading yesterday. Two pairs of c.£25k buys which had a bit of a bed n isa look about them, but are over the ISA threshold so may have been genuine buys. A £71k buy. A whole load of delayed self-cancelling sells, but also some more real largeish sells to add to the steady offloading that someone - or some people - have been doing over the last week.
All in all, that seems to reflect the mood on here. Some still have faith, others have lost faith or patience. Both positions seem justified at this point.
I echo your sentiments, Samson. And I too wish I had sold out when we were at 160ish. But I don't think we should castigate ourselves over much for any submission to "greed". We had stuck with this company, through thick and thin (mainly thin!) for - in the case of many of us - over a decade, and I think we deserved some reward. Someone was saying only a few days ago - I think it may have been BlakeneyP or Bellers - about the opportunity cost of having invested here. As I have said myself, tongue in cheek, on more than one occasion, Aye, we'd have got a better return in an instant access savings account. And we can be forgiven for believing that we would get a reward for our loyalty, not a pandering to greed, when we read the hubristic words of our then CEO on 1st December, "Today's news is therefore a landmark event both for the Company and for Scotland". Not yet quite up there with Bannockburn, Richard.
They say sometimes no news is good news, I am fully expecting a better RNS come the end of the month, maybe not triumphant but progress and no more big setbacks.
