I do not expect them to be 'hugely upbeat' regardless of the figures. It would simply be irresponsible to be anything other than cautious. I therefore expect the results to be largely down beat.
However, I believe most of the bad news is already priced in to the share. 50p seems to be a very strong floor to the share price; we have bounced off this level several times. My only worry (although I don't expect it) is for some unknown bad news to emerge which would crash us through the 50p support.
For me, the big news will be if they intend to pay the interim dividend in October. I believe market (and my personal) expectation is that they won't. Having taken government help, I cannot see how they could pay a dividend.
Have just listened to a podcast uploaded today by the interim managing director....... she seems very upbeat about the way ahead.... so I’ll stick my neck out and say everything looks positive long term
Craig30 " it won't be September until tjings get back to normal" CORRECT THINGS WON'T GET BACK TO NORMAL UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2022!! this is when everyone in the world including sub saharan Africa has been vaccinated. In the meantime, Stagecoach SP will recover from 20p to 50p when the Vaccine becomes available.
£267k sold £587k brought and the SP is down looks like the MMs are playing games before Wednesdays results
Hi Barney, I think the same as you, you will never be able to predict the bottom, all we know is that these shares are low as it is. The company has suspended the shares like you say and it won't be till september until everything starts getting back to normal.
At the moment I don’t care whether the price fluctuates a few pence either way over the next few months.. At the moment I’m in their baye scheme currently suspended because of Covid, hopefully this will return soon... However in the meantime because I wanted these at the lowest price I’ve opened up an ISA solely for stagecoach shares.... only time will tell....
I may even buy some before and after if they do go lower, if you buy now and they go to 40 would you really still be disappointed ?. I am no expert but these shares I would think will be at least a pound in a year or maybe sooner. I don't think anyone judge what the lowest they will go but they already low anyway. Stagecoach are also in a better position than first so I've heard.
Like i said i have a limit buy set, and would not be surprised if we saw a monetary knee jerk drop of anything upto 10% followed by a swift bounce back to about these levels, followed by a hesitant rise, as said, public will be going back to transport more and more
I agree, mediocre results is most likely. Having said that, mediocre is about the best companies can hope for atm - anything north of absolutely shocking is good right now. Not sure how the sp might respond to mediocre results, probably a small rise but I think it'll probably continue to trend up over the coming weeks as more people start using the buses - aimo.
Do you not think the results will be poor but with positive feedback sending the price up ?. I do have a few now but I am debating if I should wait till Weds to buy some more or buy some now in case they do go up.
I think the company will produce mediocre reports this week, I don’t think they will be bad nor good. They have already made some redundancies, not drivers but operational staff. The remaining drivers on furlough around 20% are being brought back. Services and passenger footfall are certainly up at the depot I work at. Children going back to school in September will see buses more or less back to normal as social distancing on buses will be near on impossible then. Plus more parents will also have to go back to work then..
forgot to ask... where do you think it might fall to ?
you could be right moonman, however i see a good upside from that possible low point, and have a limit buy in place, which i doubt will trigger before wednesday, and then only if the market judges the results harshly, given that a good number of companies are going to be reporting less than idea results
What are our thoughts about final figures on Wednesday?
If you was in a pub and a complete stranger gave you free advice whether to buy or sell a share would you take their advice? I fell for their crap on these BBs a few years ago but I am now older and wiser, well older anyway. Why would someone give up their spare time just to give free advice to people they don't know. Sorry human nature don't work like that.
Bully1985 has been bombarding the BPC and CERP forums with FAKE news and allegedly misleading posts in an attempt to derail a planned merger and is shorting our shares. He freely admitted recently to having no shares in these companies until the SP substantially decreases. Click on my name for the evidence since 12/7 to back these allegations.
Always DYOR. Never trust apparent experts (including me), especially if they are shorting a stock by bombarding forums with page upon page of negative opinions. Who in their right mind would constantly talk a share price down in a company they invested in? Why would they spend many hours doing so? Is it out of public service as unpaid volunteers to help others or for their own manipulative objectives? Always click on the name of a poster and check the links and research s/he has provided. Better still get independent professional advice. I am starting a campaign by lobbying my many political contacts to get these forums regulated to avoid unsophisticated private investors who occasionally read BBs, getting fleeced.
Feedback about Bully1985 welcome. If you agree share forums should be regulated from de-rampers or rampers that post absurd claims , please post on BPC forum.
Starchild
you can't trust the buy/sell flag... 90% of yesterdays trades on GWMO where reported wrong, including my own purchase
still can't work out if i want to take a punt here or not, i had sort of offhandedly made a note to review/buy in at 45p thinking it'd probably not get there, but we're almost there, so i fond myself glancing this way again
But the last UT made five mins after close showing as a buy but maybe a sell at that price
We just need the USA to get the situation under control and all the shares will start flying
My sharedealing account had a reduced dealing offer on, so I couldn't resist.
It will be interesting to see what happens First Group and other smaller rivals. Even if passenger numbers decline by 20% in the 'new normal', SGC could take a larger share of the market. A larger slice of a smaller pie.
I started buying these through the company share scheme 5 years ago when the SP was £4.30 I admit they have tanked but I brought monthly so averaged down but what I like now is, in January these were £1.60 and it is only because of the pandemic that the price dived like most other shares. Things are starting to get back to normal and we are now taking our out of London reginal staff back out of furlough and back to work. My CEO said that they may lose up to 20% of passengers because of this work at home trend but Stagecoach are shrewd and would of course just cut buses and staff if need be but another bonus announced from Boris is that all furlough staff that return to work till January he will give £1000 per person to the company's that's a lot of money. Anyway as they say do your own research, I only posted this as I was getting tired of the same person who keeps de-ramping this share for obviously his own benefit and saying it will go down to 25 now why would that happen when things are returning to normal?
Back to normal in August, good to hear. You will laugh at this price in five years' time.
My route is doing school holiday duties as the kids are still off. We have just increased max loadings from 20 to 30 but are meant to be going back to normal loadings in August just waiting for confirmation from TFL. Our revenues will all be down of course in the RNS but I think the SP is a steal at the moment and couldn't resist buying more for a 5 year hold for when I retire.
Hi tweedledee,
It's good to have a poster with first hand experience. How are passenger numbers looking atm? What's your view on how quickly we can get back to normal?
