SMS controls the company.
Won’t be Publicis, WPP or Omnicom as there is historical bad blood between SMS and those groups.
They’ll just be offered an attractive bonus package or even share incentives depending who buys them.
IMHO the favourites are IPG, Havas, Dentsu or even Private Equity.
It's not just about Sorrell though. There are many senior people or former agency owners who sold half their business at around £4 per share. Speaking personally, if I were offered £1.50 for something I sold at £4 I wouldn't be to keen, particularly if I believed that the market was undervaluing S4.
Rock8 & Nige Co,
Thanks for your replies. Yes you are both correct regarding Sir Martin holding a casting vote with his B share. However, with Sir Martin's age 79 year young and recent cancer scare that we haven't been updated further regarding his treatment & future outcome is unknown he may decide that sadly time isn't on his side. Regarding a takeover bid, at the end of the day money talks. I don't see a recovery in the share price on the horizon, so a bid in the region of 150p per share would be most welcome, certainly by small shareholders as myself. What's the alternative? We may never see a share price of 150p again.
Five years and counting, S4 Capital hasn't produced a profit yet, with expected earnings forecasts predicting another three years before a profit, (2026) according to simply wall street, its just not good enough.
👍😁 S4 might have its challenges but compared to Mad Moulding Sorrell's in a different league!
Spot on, 404x. Unlike a certain megalomaniac in Manchester that we know of !!!
One thing I do respect about Sorrell is you will never hear him blame the LSE. It's not that he won't try to pin external factors as the reason for the company's underperformance - on that front he's said plenty on global politics and economics.
But he'll never try to use the City as a punchbag - and rightly so, he knows better than anyone how much the City rewarded WPP, and that it was his choice to list here after all.
BielsaBall2021.... "With a bid of close to $700m 96p per share already dismissed, next offer I expect would be in the region of 150p.
BielsaBall, it was claimed in the Wall Street Journal dated 22 March 2024 that New York private-equity firm New Mountain Capital have already held exploratory talks with S4 last year about a possible acquisition. So I don't doubt with a very weak share price that there will be interest in S4 Capital. Although, I would have to agree with Rock, Sorrell holds a B share (golden share) so he holds all the S4 cards, or as Sorrell put it, "we are in charge of our own destiny."
Time will tell if you are proved right and we do receive a bid, I hope that Sorrell has the good grace to inform us disappointed shareholders of any such offers, unlike previously. Maybe this would help increase the struggling share price.
I enclose below the WSJ article.

The difference here is that SMS has a golden share and I think he would be looking for top dollar Maybe £2+
I suspect that PE will also be looking at S4 Capital and could go the same way as Darktrace. S4 sum of parts valuation is multiples of current market cap. With a bid of close to $700m 96p per share already dismissed, next offer I expect would be in the region of 150p.
Good morning Rock,
Yes good numbers by alphabet. I also was expecting a bounce in S4 share price.
No idea why mate.
Hi Nige
Hope you are doing well.
Expecting a pop after aphabet numbers but nothing?
Any ideas why?
Yes, nice to see.
Those short of Darktrace got burned
Some chunky buys out the gate this morning
Great news from alphabet
“Advertising revenue through search and YouTube, which accounts for more than three-quarters of Google’s top line, grew 13 per cent to $61.7bn, compared with analysts’ consensus forecast for $60.2bn.”
Google stock has soared to all time highs after hours due to its results. Anyone know how much SFOR makes via Google advertising?
AH - GOOG jumping 12%, MSFT jumping 5%, SNAP jumping up 25% -- someone tell us why we're down as much in 2 days? Low depth LSE is an easy explanation, no matter what some think!!!
Looking at the big picture, it isn't what MSFT or GOOG deliver this quarter or the next that'll make a difference to the broader market - keep an eye out for those 10Y Treasury yields. Core PCE in Q1 was hot and juxtapose that against a lower than forecast Q1 GDP growth rate, and there are rumblings of Stagflation in the US economy.
I don't think it will play out that way and S4 will be a beneficiary of a bounce-back in the agency ad spend this year and an even better ramp up in 2025.
Sorry meet q1
If alphabet increase their q2 and meet q2 it would be a relief
Even worse they reduced their Q2 advertising targets
Companies that make reoccurring losses tend to get punished in the US too. With a market cap this low it wouldn't enter any meaningful indexes, and as a very small fish in a big pond, I'm not sure any analysts would bother covering it. Particularly in the case of small to mid caps I don't think moving to the US is necessarily the silver bullet it's becoming seen as across these boards.
Meta missed their advertising revenue forecasts last night
Tonight it’s Microsoft and Alphabet
GoCPI, I totally agree, S4 should be trading in the USA, (Nasdaq). I don't think that Sorrell would want to do this until S4 Capital is making a profit, sadly that could be 2 years away. Will S4 Capital be taken out before this time period? Who knows, I can certainly see someone testing the waters again, with S4 having already turned down one offer of 96p. The reason for the recent 65% share price bounce. With no follow through increased offer, we may be at the hands of day traders/gamblers until the add market improves, hopefully in the second half of this year.
