Unsure if this has been posted previously but a good read and implies we are very much ready to embrace this new tech: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://florian-alt.org/unibw/wp-content/publications/khamis2018mobilehci.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjt5rHsvdvpAhXuTxUIHSgzAu84FBAWMAF6BAgJEAE&usg=AOvVaw0_F3fqhJq-8LlN5vNxC7eC
JC, thats the same Honda who are Veoneers top customer (by spend)
I have Honda as Qualcomm/ Veoneer / SM
Any idea of rease date of such devices?
These two recent Honda patents also may have relevance to the Qualcomm/ Honda relationship.

S2020 reminded us of Semicast Speculation recently;
'Back in Jan Colin Barnden clearly thought the Qualcomm deal was bigger than just auto.

THIS IS SPECULATION: Qualcomm takes exclusive license for eye gaze tracking in smartphones. Gives competitive advantage over Apple and Samsung.
@seeingmachines is funded to profit with a steady royalty stream."
Only when it's put into practice, due to scientific endeavour. Although Toyota, Honda and Hyundai RNS would be good.
Bosch has been a long term partner and still no 'agreement'.
Imagine if Microsoft put an offer in?
Surely if Qualcomm are registering a patent that is relying on SM's technology, there would need to be an agreement already in place?
Phil
Maybe not VR at present, although you wonder if Microsoft aren't missing a trick but Windows 10, eye tracking is available with Tobii at the moment touted.
A very good eye tracker would help VR a lot
Its strange because Microsoft are saying theyre not releasing vr goggles or any games for vr with the new Xbox, its not the direction theyre going in. Odd. Hopefully thats not true, PlayStation are and I can see it taking off massively in the future.
The Qualcomm deal is the best and the worst for everyone in this board. Because it is licensing, we won't know about where it is being used and even if Seeing Machines did have an inkling they will be tied up in NDAs but unlike before when there would likely not be a 1-1 tie up with the eventual users and engineering fees, we would be working for Qualcomm. So we build a feature that could end up in a camera, a phone, a tablet, a Kinect, VR/AR headset/glasses, laptop.
Paul will be grinning like the Cheshire Cat who has had the cream and has the keys to the dairy, but unable to provide concrete facts so. We will still have clowns pouring cold water on the share price until the licensing revenue starts to flow and rise. But Paul won't be able to give firm forecasts. But, he will know the tsunami of money that will follow if the range of products grows.

Thanks. Any ideas on what such deals could be worth or is this simply figure in the air stuff?
Buff
If SEE tech was to be used in the Xbox and /or Kinnect, via Qualcomm Snapdragon, you would hope Qualcomm would pay for a licence which again you would hope it would lead to n RNS due to its financial significance. Along the lines of the auto license.
I doubt it would go down well if financially significant news was not reported and then A$20 million appears in the accounts from unreported licencing /royalties
New Microsoft x-box to launch around Nov 2020. Release date for VR not announced yet, no mention of next Kinnect yet.

How will this areas of the business work in terms of updates to the market to understand how this relationship with Qualcomm is materilasing? Will we get RNS saying we are in computer consoles via our relationship with them or will we not at all and just find out through scouring anual report the amount of revenue linked to various segments or relationships?
JC
Yes, great find and pointer that there's much more to the arrangement than was apparent from the CES announcement.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DEVICE INTERACTION BASED ON A DETECTED GAZE
Systems and methods are provided that allow a user to interact with a device using gaze detection. In the provided systems and methods, the gaze detection is initiated by detecting a triggering event. Once gaze detection has been initiated, detecting a gaze of a user may allow the user to activate a display component of the device, pass a security challenge on the device, and view content and alerts on the device. The gaze detection may continue looking for the user's gaze and keep the display component of the device activated as long as a gaze is detected, but may deactivate the display component of the device once a gaze is no longer detected. To conserve power the gaze detection may also be deactivated until another triggering event is detected.
[0019] According to some embodiments, optical detection sensor module 122 may include or be in communication with a camera, such as a built-in front facing camera of processing device 100, or a camera built into a coupled display or a coupled peripheral camera device. The camera may be a visible light camera or a depth-sensing camera, such as the Microsoft® Xbox™ Kinect™ camera.
In some embodiments, optical detection sensor module 122 may also include or be in communication with an infrared or other light-based eye tracker that senses light reflected from an eye or particular features within an eye of user 120 to track the eye of user 120. According to some embodiments, optical detection sensor module 122 may be configured to cause a sensor to capture frames of images that are processed within module 122 or, in some embodiments, by processing component 106 for detecting a face in the frames of images and, if a face is detected, detecting a gaze from the face. A face and a gaze may be detected using one or more face and gaze detection algorithms stored in module 122 or any of memories 108, 110, and 112. For example, a gaze may be detected by determining eye direction of a detected face, such as user 120. According to some embodiments, optical detection sensor module 122 may be configured to detect a face and then a gaze of user 120 for use in determining whether to activate or deactivate display component 114, pass a security check of device 100, and/or display an alert or message on display component 114. In some embodiments, optical detection sensor module 122 may be configured to detect a gaze based on user 120 gazing at a predetermined object or area, such as processing device 100 or display component 114. Thus, detecting a gaze as described herein may require user 120 to face processing device 100 or display component 114. In some embodiments, user 120 may only be required to have their eyes looking toward processing device 100 or display component 114 to detect a gaze.
