I bought these 8 years ago at 307 as it was said Quarter were interested in buying Sainsburys. They went down. Then they went up and I found myself in profit when they were hoping to buy Asda only to be disappointed again when they weren't allowed to. Just one big disappointment.
Always learning. Vaguely aware of Bestway but these type of RNSs usually prompt me to find out a bit more.
One of the UK's largest private businesses : £4.5 bn annual turnover, multinational with interests in wholesale, pharmacy, banking, cement, real estate ...
Who knows what'll happen but I've always wondered about the leveraging potential of Sainsbury's huge property portfolio.
Well you may be right in the long run but in the short term the market appears to disagree with you
lol i havent missed any point at all actually. NOT AT ALL. i know that company like the back of my hand FROM DAY 1.
You're missing the point draft, Bestway are seeking to secure an initial holding and add to it at the right price by offering to buy institutional holdings thus underpinning the share price. Institutions who have loaned shares to shorters may well now recall them
lol theyve clearly said theres no bid. they probably just want some dividends as the ****stan ruppe has devalued to 300 so the ****stan business of bestway is probably worth naff all. the only things i can see is bestway own WELL pharmacy and sainsbury has just kicked out lloyds pharmacy, bestway probably ask them to use WELL pharmacy.
Should see the shorters rushing to close I would think
80m share purchase. That’ll put a bit of a rocket behind the sp. A bid maybe incoming from Bestway if another suitor wants in…. Should be an interesting year at sbry.
My feeling is reaching 250 would be good and then sitting at that level for a while. I hope the SP is finally recovering. Although as said before if the dividends stay at same levels the SP is not too important.
Buy on rumour sell on news is the old adage.
The market knew this update was coming and expected it to be good (as it was) so the market rose in anticipation. Maybe it rose a bit too much too quickly, and the profit takers know there is no more good news for a while so they bale out content with a quick profit. That's the way the market works. But for longer term holders, the results are good and I hope and expect the upward momentum of the last few weeks, should keep going. Can it make 300 in time for the finals? It would be nice to think so, but it depends on the fear or greed of overall markets to a large extent.
Good luck to all.
It's always better to travel than to arrive. The SP was in in the 170s/180s last October. The results just confirm the market's expectations.
Stock market is quite ridiculous- what’s the point of having good updates when it affects the sp like this. The whole system is rigged!
"A higher sp will mean sainsbury will have to pay a larger dividend or maybe reduce the projected dividend %"
What on earth are you talking about? The divi level has nothing to do with the SP.
surprised the sp has fallen, results looked ok to me. upper end of profit forecast
A higher sp will mean sainsbury will have to pay a larger dividend or maybe reduce the projected dividend %
They were about £4 back in the day, fingers crossed we see those highs again.
A new week and one that will provide us with the long awaited trading update on Wed 11 Jan 23. We have had a nice increase so far this year so hoping that the trading update will bring positive news and a further increase. We can but hope!!!! Continued good luck to all. Rgds S
Wondering at what price to sell , thinking wait for 280p one day?
Here is hoping that 2023 see's a steady but decent rise in share price. Not going to set targets but I would like to see a decent rise for SBRY. Continued good luck to all on this board be you investors, potential investors or those just watching. Good luck and success to one and all. Per ardua ad astra!!!! Rgds Saintly
