Hi , good morning . Thanks for that info. Be interesting to see if it impacts on energy shres. lets hope were above £18 at the end of Thursday. Good luck everyone. Have a lovely week.
The quiet week ended in a distinct cooling-off for RDS.
Will the results next Thursday consolidate the recent rise in RDS, which appears to have been significantly driven by energy prices - represented here by Brent:
https://invst.ly/we3v4 ?
It’s worth remembering that such ‘daily charts’ reflect the end of day prices and that the market in Brent operates during different hours. Here is Brent v RDS over the last week, which shows RDS falling disproportionately relative to Brent during Friday’s trading : https://invst.ly/we45t
It’ll be interesting to see if, having entered a downward trend over the last three days, the market continues to sell-off RDS over the next couple of days - indicating that the results are not expected to deliver as much as the 1813 peak implied. Or will it recover and climb further? Either way, there is the prospect of a sharp reaction when the statement is released. An interesting scenario for traders, particularly as immediate reactions to such statements are often followed by reversals as the news is digested.
Re COP 26:
I rather share Greta’s scepticism about national leaders and the forthcoming COP26 - they’ll make the right sort of noises but probably do very little that hasn’t already been signalled. Climate change will meanwhile proceed at pace and may ultimately be left to resolve the problem by brutally reducing populations. These events will not impact our lives or those who currently have direct responsibility. Big Oil is in a position to do some useful work to implement energy transition -it needs to step up significantly, which is why I find share buybacks rather than investment in transition a massive disappointment.
Char333 - The "conference stuff" you mention & which you unsure of may just be the COP 26 UN climate change conference starting on the 31st, just a little chat between mates!
RDSB results are before BP so it's the latter holders who will get to see how the market reacts first.
Is COP 26 likely to impact on oil shares? You bet it is.
hi. i really hope so. i hope it stays around these levels till end of wednesday. i wonder if BP are reporting their results before Shell. that may have a bearing on Shells update + give a indication of results + how the markets react. i saw someone said he may sell half + take a little money off the table, as he tetchy . that may suit alot of people. he mentioned something about some conference stuff the week after next, which may have a adverse effect on oil.not sure what its all about. but it may be a good topping up opp if it happens, either if Shell goes up or down on results. the longer oil stays above 80$ a barrel can only help going forward + many oil observers saying it will go over 100$. a divi rise will help, the buy backs will help the share price rise. time will tell, but most of us are very happy since it it £15. be great to see £19 after results , just to be greedy + prove how wrong i was. good luck + have a lovely week.
Very steady quiet week which I guess is encouraging given our meteoric rise.
Ready for a good set of results next week and hopefully to push on a little further....
