Thanks for all the feedback on my DHSC question. i think I got spooked with Lord Bethell going (which he deserves but it inheres with the 'chain of command' so to speak), and also the news that free LFTs are going to be phased out next year. I don't subscribe to the view that testing will be required for years to come - I think that come next year it will start to be phased out, but there should be enough business for Omega to get provided they get it soon! Cheers.
Which* not wish.
We need approvals before anything else. This is why I’m thinking it’s taking so long and discussions are still “ongoing” because approvals have not been granted.
However, once approvals do land I honestly think we are going to be turning away orders from private companies just so we can fulfil HMG orders. May be a little far fetched but that’s what I’m thinking. Our 2m capacity just won’t be enough for demand.
Anyway, looks like it’s all coming together. LFTs are going to be here for a long time to come, wish is £££ for Omega.
GLA. Enjoy the sunshine & Have a good weekend.
Blubutton, fully agree we need sales.
Interesting that FDA have voted against the Booster for under 65’s except vulnerable even though the current vaccines appear to wane after 6 month.
Mologic having the best home antigen test in the market place is extremely exciting news for Omega this week - via a comprehensive independent study - it’s going to be interesting to see if DHSC have accepted them to be presented to Phase 3/ 3a at Porton Down ?
Coupled with Bill Gates influence I wouldn’t back against it,
then it’s down to PD analysis
More twists and turns to come for Omega but they are poised to enjoy an upside rerate, feel it’s coming at last.
as said for a while now, i'd just like to see the first order.
agree we are at the beginning of the testing phase, we know the vaccines protection wane over time, thus antibody testing will become norm for the vaccinated.
agree negotiations taking a great deal longer than expected, are we due an RNS when the negotiations conclude? it is price sensitive, however orders are more so.
first order means lot more coming from around the world, so ,as has been the case for many many months now, wait for first order.
Also those remarks are UK focused - and to a degree other highly vaccinated countries (Israel is seeing a surge in cases but the third dose seems to be keeping severity down). Thanks.
I'm not 100% sure I agree with that to be honest. If the Delta variant hadn't come along then in the UK cases were falling very quickly. I don't think Covid will vanish anytime soon, but with UK population at 90% with Covid antibodies then I do think we've got quite good protection now (boosters will be needed). I think it will, maybe after this winter, become like the common cold going forward. And if people have to pay for tests they simply won't bother. Now, all of this is provided we don't get a new variant again - which could change things obviously, although it seems Delta spreads fast enough to be the dominant one. THanks.
Out of interest why you said peak ? We all know testing be here for a few years and covid be here for years. All this at peak or middle or miss the boat far from it
I just feel it's taking a very long time at the peak of a pandemic for this to be decided. I am not comfortable with the time it's taken and I do wonder if these 'partners' are basically delaying it deliberately to ensure that demand has to go through them still. Perhaps they think that when free testing ends the demand won't be so much so they have decided not to commit to Omega? Thanks.
Quite right BBD they have said they are in serious negotiations and I am sure they are.
"The waiting, based on ODX's own comments, is because they have been unable to come to commercial terms with a supplier of a test."
I must have missed this, when did Odx say they have been unable to come to commercial terms?
No TWatcher sorry but it would make sense to continue the negotiations without agreeing a final deal whilst you are waiting for your own test to be approved. I would contend that is not any sort of breach and would be perfectly normal and acceptable practice. For what it is worth it is certainly what I would do if I were at the negotiating table.
it is correct that the last 2 or 3 times that ODX has commented on the matter the phraseology about waiting for the government to pick a test has disappeared, and now the wording is solely of the type "we are talking with other manufacturers".
given HMG are now on to their 4th different supplier of tests that match the new spec, it seems HMG is quite agnostic as to which test ODX makes, as long as it is compliant. The waiting, based on ODX's own comments, is because they have been unable to come to commercial terms with a supplier of a test. If it was solely because they are waiting for their own test to be approved, and are not in serious discussions, then it would be misinforming the market to suggest they are in serious discussions.
Well with the move to paying for lateral flow tests coming up next year, I think my hope that we would be employed by them to manufacture tests for mass distribution by the NHS won't come to pass. The language of the DHSC has turned to 'facilitating discussions with partners' which to me indicates DHSC are taking a step backward as being the primary buyer. I am also keen to know why I haven't seen any Surescreen LTFs 'in the wild' as yet - has anyone seen these or do you think they are being stockpiled? Cheers.
