“Recruiting is the last thing you'd be doing if you weren't sure of getting any orders and the heavy recruitment and expansion going on with consortium members all points to the fact that design freeze is all but done“
I see what you are saying regarding the whole package merchant and that would make sense seeing as four companies need to be making exactly the same kit, cassette, prick, etc.
The hard part technically was always achieving the high performance bar for the test strip. The tweeting from Abingdon, job ads, preparation for production and Colin on Sky News suggests to me that most difficult most important aspect has been achieved. However, they can’t formally “freeze” the design of the package to be manufactured by the four different companies until the results of the REACT study come back and they decide what cassette etc they are going with. That would make sense. So from that it looks like we are there technically so there’s excitement, confidence and preparation but they can’t formally announce anything because the whole package to be manufactured is not yet decided upon.
If that’s where we’re at then that would explain all the confusing mixed messages we are getting to suggest that the thing is finished but “design freeze not yet achieved”. Ok. That’s my current opinion. It’s been confusing but looks like we’re there bar the shouting and just waiting for REACT study results and decision on final package including connectivity app which is probably being tested and assessed in parallel.
I'm not sure what a stir fry fry has to do with omega. Apart from food intolerance in china. Edjcjonres. That's probably where the biggest market will be together with batsmen maybe Newbury could enlighten us with their case paper on it
Well good luck all, the consortium should be successful dispute the absolute shower we have in government.. did you see the state of parliament today? And they voted to keep voting that way??! The world has officially gone mad, I'm off to bed.
Merchant banker... Hanc*** was reticent and deliberate in what he said. I agree with what you are saying when this lands it will be a game changer. We may well hear this week. Who knows. But even if it is 2 or 3 weeks the upside is absolutely massive. # WearenoPrawn
I think they are already a pawn in a game of chess. So what - if ultimately it leads us to be able to manufacture millions of tests from an opportunity that would not have presented itself if we were not part of this Government led consortium. Once design freeze is achieved, there will be a preferred order from the government which must be fulfilled, and then Omega can commercialise as it sees fit.
Mars That does make sense. Just hope the company can progress further avenues without being held back by the consortium. Personally just wish people would start to talk more about the three segments of the company. Lth holders have their own view so it would be nice to hear new holders views on them
I really think this is mainly about logging and collection of data now and then what the result means. What's the benefit in selling millions of tests for people to get a result without collection of that data? The data is way more valuable than the investment in the test, remember this is not just about commercialising a product this is about providing a solution to beat a pandemic. The specification of the product has to extend to the feedback loop via results and data capture IMO.
To collect the data firstly you need a system. Which sounds like an app, from what CK has said and looking at the switch from Abingdon and BBI from to talking about tracking apps. We know the NHS app is delayed and sounds like not good enough. Look at the solutions Abingdon offer and how this can take the test and trace to a world leading solution that BJ talked about.
Secondly you need an incentive to get people to log the results. Data protection no doubt problematic so they need to find a way to incentive's people to log results.
Finally what does a result mean if its negative or positive? The further relaxation of lockdown measures take away a lot of the problems which could me those with antibodies are granted additional privileges. The government have always said antibodies are the key to unlock the country.
Antibody tests are ongoing. It may well be many more have immunity than we think. But it is heading towards the herd immunity approach in stealth, which means slowly growing natural immunity until a vaccine can accelerate this.
So for me, design freeze is: A test that is 100% accurate Integrated logging system, app or website Information and packaging messaging
You cannot offer the product up for distribution until above is all achieved otherwise the whole point of developing the tests in the first place is circumvented. Every test result leads to a knock on reaction, they are not investing in these just so we can take them ourselves for our own piece of mind and keep the result to ourselves.
As the consortium has a client, as with any contract it is the client who permits the release of information. The other thing that strikes me about 9/4 RNS it states what happens when design freeze is reached therefore another RNS is not necessary as the next action is already in play.
Upomega the RNS says as follows “ Once the COVID-19 Rapid Test reaches design freeze, then the specification and standard operating procedures will be shared with each party of the consortium to enable manufacturing and/or assembly to be undertaken at each site, including at Omega's manufacturing facility in Alva, Scotland, according to capability. The RNS of 9/4 does not say the company will issue an RNS on design freeze just that the consortium will share data.
If people can be bothered to to read the previous rns announcements they would have an understanding as to how matters will progress Once design freeze is met the product will be manufactured for testing. That does not mean millions will be msnufac ured at once. The company has said that a rns will follow once design freeze has been reached. The question is how long. It may take another two months or days. No one knows but we get an rns when it arrives and then it will move to the next stage. I.e trialling. Inmho
