Hi Scored, Yeah, I always give the guys a tip - generally £4 - as our weekly shop with them generally comes in around 85/90, so hopefully that's commensurate/reflects what was spent on the shop but also says, 'thanks for doing a good job etc' and covers the price of a coffee etc. Had a couple of guys - different service, picking up some Ercol sofa stuff - that came from Swansea to Hitchin in Hertfordshire and they had set off at 4:30 am and still had other calls in London after picking up the Ercol before returning home. I kinda felt for them, so gave both of them a decent tip. One of them just stared at what I'd put in his hand and said, 'you sure?! I've been doing this job for 8 years and this is the first tip I've ever had!' Found that hard to believe almost! Was nice just to bring a bit of cheer to someone though doing a good job : ) A simple appreciation always goes a long way I find : ) All best...
Do any of you tip the driver my friend always tips 10 pounds ok he can afford it but i think its a lot ??
Just looked for a slot in Derbyshire at an old address I used to use and there's nothing doing for the next 3 days
The delivery service is much more up together now - at least in our part of West Sussex.
I was able to book another slot yesterday to get my second slot in two weeks - availability is good - most items are available or a good sub - promotions are still mainly absent so margins have certainly improved.
I think that with M&S participation there is now a very valid case for a major investment to ramp up the Ocado home delivery service in the UK. This would obviously benefit Ocado but to M&S it could be a major game changer for the direction of their business.
OCDO Ocado on a nice early run.......

Highlights
? Growth in Retail Revenue of 10.3%, in line with guidance, with average order size up slightly
? Ocado Zoom, our immediacy offering, continues to perform well and we continue to progress plans for a further site
? With customers' concerns over the Coronavirus, since the quarter end, we are seeing higher value baskets with an increase in mix of ambient goods, as well as an increased demand for orders
? While this has placed the business under unprecedented strain, we are taking all measures to ensure that our service remains as close to normal as possible and to meet as much of the demand as we can.

Rocka
My slot arrived out of the blue and that was for the next day - it seems that if you regularly check the web site eventually you will get a slot - probably within days.
I was speaking to the driver and he said that people were starting to order a bit less, therefore they could get more deliveries on the van - usually that get about 24 but that dropped to just 10 but has now crept back up closer to 17.
My stupid comment about the size of the warehouse was wide of the mark but maybe they will have to consider increasing the capacity/ size of the delivery vans in future.
Also the drivers seem to be travelling a lot between drops - the software doesn't seem to be able to target say a postcode down to the first four digits.
So I think they Ocado have got room for improvement.
No slots available for the next 3 days, I note Iceland have started delivering again and not a bad service either although limited choice
The slots are coming up on a next day basis - if you keep checking you will find that you can eventually get onto the website and process an order.
My order came tonight he was a bit late but everything was there and there were no issues.
One thing they might need to tweak to the delivery system is to get customers on delivery runs closer together - the drivers are doing a lot of running around between drops.
We've been able to book an Ocado slot next week and week after. Have had Ocado deliveries regularly til now. Sometimes had Asda deliveries. Way more substitutions at Asda and quality of service far lower than Ocado. Still firmly of the opinion the UK population and those all around the world will be calling out increasingly for premium quality grocery delivery service now and in the future. The heads of shoppers, that were ambivalent to online grocery before, are increasingly being turned.
I have not been able to book a delivery with any retailer. My next door neighbour is having a delivery everyday from various retailers, panic buying in effect.
Also, people are booking up slots in advance and then cancelling at the last minute if they don't need them.
price building up again after good movement in past 3 days
I would back up Mondo's comment - my order last night was for next day delivery and it has also been acknowledged with no subs - my order is due this evening.
I had been critical of Ocado in the early stages of the crisis. Credit to them, they altered the website so that it showed if there were no delivery slots at the first page after login (the initial queing system did not do this).
Yesterday I was able to get a slot and had the order arrived today - with no substitution. By contrast, both Tesco and Waitrose have no slots for the next 3 weeks.
Therefore volcano is incorrect in his comments - Ocado are clearly performing in a better manner than the bricks and mortar supermarkets. More to the point, because it is an operation that is only online, it can control stock better because no-one can panic buy, unlike physical supermarkets. Interestingly, the delivery driver (whilst social distancing) said how they have stopped delivering packs of bottled water (as this takes up a lot of space) and, as a result, are able to fit more deliveries onto each van - simple but effective!!
