and to the 888account!
Thanks Ken, from another newbie dipping his toe in the water.
Good post & advise by 888 above,
As for TLW, in there too. Don't sweat it. Is a sleeping giant & will rise (imo of course). Is a 6 month plan though
Thank you Ken. Really appreciate you talking the time to write the e-mail. I am trying to do actually what you are talking about on about 10 different companies so I have a good feel about what what. I do feel and tell me if you think I’m wrong but by choosing the right shares there has never been a better time then now to earn some good money. Sometimes you have to roll the dice and take a punt don’t you ? I’m writing this and listen to the news about testing for covid 19 so hopefully we will all have a good day tomorrow.
Keep posting Ken as it’s all interesting time and I value your comments .
Kind regards
Bramley1967
Good post ken

Hi Bramley1967,
The advice shared by the888accountant, is top advice.
There are times when a business develops, then you may consider holding for longer.
There are few places to fully research and few people on share chat boards should be trusted.
Best is to read every RNS, look for information about the company and the market on the internet. Look for interviews on YouTube with management or CEO’s. Study the companies website and read and immerse yourself in the business.
If you know the about the business it may help.
Just because a business valuation is increasing every day, it doesn’t mean it will continue! Every company has a ceiling value and if it is exceeded you are at risk. In the stock market even great companies appear to lose value when they shouldn’t. This can be due to very large holders taking spread bets that the share price will fall. It is called shorting a share. You need to be very careful!
NCYT is in a unique situation right now but even it will reach a ceiling value. Right know it is hard to predict accurately as there are no figures for previous years accounts which are anything like this year!
So think very carefully how far you let it run.
I really hope this helps.
Hargreaves and Lansdown have some good booklets on there website you can get for free. There is much to read.
This is in no way advice, as you and only you can make your own financial decisions. But always put in less than you have. You should never go all in!
I wish you well and take care!
Cheers RK
Hi 888account
Thank you that is all really good advice that I will follow. I just hope that Nova will move up as like you say its a gamble and any profit is a good profit. I think its all about not being greedy and taking the profit when you feel its met what you think and feel you are happy with.
Appreciate the feedback
regards

Bramley,
Welcome to the game mate - but that's exactly what 95% of AIM is - a game in the main.
So so many dog shares out there - you can make money on them, but they are naff businesses in the main. ie. there are stocks that I 100% believe are utter rubbish, but they move every time on volume/news. So - buy way in advance, leave them and play the inevitable 10-50% rise on hype.
The occasional good egg, that "might make it", like NCYT come along once in a while & even then its an environment driven success - ie. NCYT got lucky with Coronavirus.
1) Never get attached to a stock. Its there to make money, not mother your kids, you not taking it home to meet the parents.
2) Never chase a tip - 99% of tips are useless pumps
3) Base your decisions on YOUR view of the stock, not what boards like these say.
4) Have a strategy - there will always be talk for £2, £5, £10 ....."to da moooon" price evaluations. Sit back, post it note some figures down and work our that YOU think the stock might achieve / or what profit you want from it - then sell and don't look back.
5) if you forget all the above....this is AIM. It could go to rats any moment - so for the love of god - invest what your prepared to lose (quite literally).
Good luck champ.
Generally, you're right re: ISA's for investment, sharehunter but if Bramley is a small investor, as seems likely from what he's stated, I don't think it's necessary for him right now.
In an ordinary dealing A/C, you can make £12k gains p.a before running into any CGT liability and you can offset any losses against that in any tax year (you can't deduct losses in an ISA as it's all tax - free, of course) and no ISA fees to pay, either - just sayin' - sasa.
no probs Bramley, I have learnt a lot since Oct...mainly on what not to do ! ha-ha.....I have panicked a few times when a SP drops...sold and then buy back in when its rising...I now never panic sell....I hold firm and hold tight. There will be bumps, I also get a great thrill from doing my own research , putting it all together and making my decisions off of that...but mainly I like to invest in things I know and am interested in....and there are things I definitely do not touch. I refuse to invest in Gambling firms....
Thank you all that replied to my chat. I will take all the advice given and appreciate you taking the time to reply. I do try to do my research and have learnt now to do this. It’s only been two weeks but I have made some money and lost some too. I’m in for the ride though and sometimes you just have to roll the dice I suppose.
Cheers
Everyone
Bramley, for Gold do some research on GGP, news is not till April 30th so you wont get spiked if you find a good entry in the next week or two. currently 5.175p, should see 7p on news.
but dont invest money you need for other things!
Bramley 1967 ,while not someone who can advise people as sometimes I lose money with shares ,while don't know if you investing with a share isa think if you not you might be better to use one ,others who more successful I hope will advise ,hoping this share price soon moving up more as more news is released and as more see todays rns ,hope you successful as Rich Ken looks to be ,easy to lose money with shares if not investing right
hi Bramley, I dipped into NCYT earlier and will be holding for now, and after doing some research I believe this investment will be good, I like to invest for medium to long term and I see potential here, I also am invested in ZOE (Zoetic) as after my own research I think it has massive potential...apart from that I stick to what I know and that is food companies...they are my safe stocks......not giving advice, just letting you know what I have done as I have been new to investing since Oct.....but its your choice...do the research...look out for trends...potential gaps in the market etc...
Hi Bramley1967 welcome to the board. I think first and foremost the one key thing which any investor would advise is DYOR - Do Your Own Research.
I would recommend that you dont get swayed by people on this BB (including myself) into buying or selling. Yes there are some excellent posts on here from the likes of VanV, etc. However you should still back it up with your own research as at the end of the day you are parting with your hard earned cash and the last thing I would personally hate to see is investors lose the lot following the wrong advice.
GL with your future investments.
Hi All
So here I am the newcomer. I need some help. Never traded before. I’m just a normal guy who has been furloughed and needed to raise some cash to survive. So I decided to take the money I had in saving that was making nothing to see if I could make some money. I bought Barc at 80 and sold yesterday at 100. All good. I bought nova at 148 last week sold the next day at 175 all good. I’m listening to you Ken and it’s helping. I’ve bought back in with most of everything I have to Nova this morning as I agree this should hopefully gain. I didn’t listen to you Ken this morning and bought as soon as I could at £260. Lesson 1 don’t buy in the first 30min. I have bought shares in Tullow which worry me but I’m waiting until Thursday like you all keep saying. Should I ?
I stupidly bought feedback shares because of the trial and I’ve halved my investment so lost a grand here so far. I’m hoping the government will announce the trail is being put out to everyone? What do you think about that Company. Finally and god knows why I bought shares in srb a week ago because I read somewhere gold mining would be good and this was one that was mentioned. Any views on that company. If you can help me out with any other wise tips I would be grateful. I have learnt don’t be greedy which is why I sold Barc and Nova early as I made a few grand and that’s a lot to me. Appreciate you listening and let’s hope Nova soars.
Cheers
