Hello i would very much like to speak with you re the reply from the CEO as i represent Mr Ed Anderson, for now I seek to reconcile the statement with what Ralph said at the AGM. However i do wish to make it very clear upfront that the case and situation related to #72pints is not closed and i am willing to share information with shareholder if only i can reconcile the statements first. Kind Regards Chris Wright - Pubs Advisory Service. Tel 02036513351 Myself and Mr Anderson appear in the following BBC news article > https://youtu.be/NuZ_9I9agmo
@ Barchid.
I might just do that myself.
When I sold my SGC holding, I put some of it in here, and the rest into Lloy, just to keep my money working.
I'm tempted to put half of my lloy holding in here & put the other half towards my holiday to Greece.
Decisions decisions

I agree, so much so that I dribbled a few more shares in today....
The management seems very sound, debt reduction is a good but belated move and UK centric stocks should do well in this current climate.
It's good that he responds to shareholder queries. Some company CEO's take their sweet time bothering. Some don't bother at all.
I've never contacted him to ask anything myself, but it inspires confidence that when others do they get a timely response.
Trent/Fairdealer
I have to say I was impressed with RF's speedy response, I have emailed him several times with queries re debt etc and each time he responds in a very timely fashion.
By the speed and comments he made on this query I judged that he was very well aware and was all over it like a rash, he does give the impression of being very much in control which is good for shareholders.
Barchid agree with Trent. Thanks for your endeavours.
It is reassuring to get an answer so promptly.
Barchid.
I just tried to msg you, but as I'm not a premium member it won't let me do it.
But that's fine. Your word is good enough for me, and thank you once again for your trouble in getting a response.
Barchid.
Yes, that's very helpful and reassuring. Thank you for your trouble. I appreciate it. Thank you.
Trent/Fairdealer
Gents
Already RF has replied, if you message me in my inbox I'm quite happy to fwd you his respomse but he is quite adamant that ;
Sediment in beer and wastage are 2 of the things taken into account in a lease
There are no consequences/ramifications across the industry due to this particular award
Anderson, tenant in question, has entered into 2 MRO deals & the PCA has confirmed the matter is closed (MRO, PCA ?)
MARS were not fined or sanctioned in this case, or any other.
I trust this helps
Rgds
Still. On a positive note, we all get a divvi later this month, and like many others I will be reinvesting mine.
That said, I can feel another cheeky top up looming at some point in the not too distant.
Sounds good to me fairdealer.
Trent afraid Fake news has become the norm on Boards here and literally everywhere. It can place company's under disproportionate pressure, but does need to countered quickly.
It is hard to believe, as the Regulator is mentioned, that this report is totally false as the perpetrator would be in serious trouble.
Let's hope Ralph answers quickly with dismissive answers.
Exactly right, Fairdealer. Even if the story is a load of ball locks, it can cast a bit of a shadow.
Fake news & B.S. Is ok for Facebook, but for shareholders of a company, any company is quite another story.
Thanks barchid, as trent states Ralph's reply will be interesting.
There is No doubt however accurate or not the Report is, the Company does need to respond otherwise confidence will be affected.
Thanks Barchid. I'm looking forward to seeing what comes back.
Hopefully something positive.
Trent/Fairdealer
I have today sent a link of the "true cost of a pint" article to Ralph Findlay asking him if;
1 Is he aware of the publicity
2 Is it likely to affect our profits &
3 Should there be an RNS if the answer to 2 is yes
Let us see if he responds
Regards to you both
Trent/Fairdealer
You both make very fair points, it is strange behaviour
@ Barchid & Fairdealer.
Yes I agree. Some kind of official denial ought to have been put out, that would have put minds at rest and the suchlike.
As I have said, I do have faith in this company. If I hadn't, is a have quietly sold and moved on. But I haven't. I'm still happy to hold. Still a short statement wouldn't go amiss.
barchid/trent, it seems strange that this matter has been dealt with by the Regulator and yet NO information from the Company, which if nothing else would have thought notice of the proceedings and or a denial of the allegation/findings.
IMO with the publication of the case, which the BOD should be fully aware, a RNS is overdue.
Trent/Fairdealer
I have to say that if this issue is really so serious why has there been no RNS ?
Is it not perhaps possible that the unhappy tenants have a sympathetic journalist in their pocket ?
If it is as serious as implied then surely the entire board are in breach of their fiduciary responsibilities ? Oddly the financial press have yet to pick this up, maybe we should just wait to see if it really is as serious as it is mooted to be ?
It sounds quite bad when you put it like that, Fairdealer.
It's pointless trying to sugar coat it, but if this is the case, why have they not addressed this before now and just allowed the situation to simply drift?
Mistakes are easier to overlook if we are open about them, and put them right.
I do hope that they do now address this and offer landlords some kind of redress in a bid to stop any possible rot.
If landlords get it into their heads to start getting snotty, this could prove to be quite expensive.
Sorry if I'm sounding negative, im not really enjoying this post, as most of you know I am quite bullish about this share but It might be prudent to put in some damage limitation in I think.
Having read the report there are a number of questions to be answered.
Having been in the beverage industry, why is/was filtration processes not more rigorous? To have over 5% as waste(yeast residue) is astonishing. When casked there will be always be a small residue after decanting, 1-2% should be max, even then could be down to poor management,i.e decated over too long a period. Even so the Brewery would be aware and should have advised/accounted accordingly. Landlords have probably known for a while but reluctant to rock the boat!!
The worrying point(financial) if accepted, is the claimed loss each year of £110m by Landlords. This in its self could completely undermine the Debt Reduction Programme.
There is another valid consideration, now this issue seems too have been a known to occur amongst some Major Brewers for a while and is now open to the World, potential bidders will be extremely cautious before committing investment in Brewers.
Just hope Marstons have a robust defence.
@ Barchid.
Yes that is true. If this game was easy, I believe that most of us would be a lot richer than we are, but there we are.
A cheeky top up? I'll never ever rule that out. Despite this latest revalation, I've still got a lot of confidence in this company. If, and I say if loosely they have been up to mischief, then there deserves to be some level of repercussions. If they have been cheating the system. If this is found to be the case, then I hope they find a solution to redress the balance before it turns ugly and landlords start taking the company to court, as I've said in my previous post.
There have been no RNS reports relating to a statement being made by Mars stating that this is going to be the case at all. That's a good thing. I hope it stays that way, but that all depends on what Marston's does next to avert this.
Like yourself, and many others on this board, I am quite bullish about my investment here, and am happy to hold long term, barring of course the odd cheeky swing trade to add a few freebies and of course to DRIP feed my dividend back into extra shares on the house.
Trent
Just when we think things are starting to look good out come a banana skin to slip up on.....
As supplied by Brake bros like most of their food I suggest.
If they fall much more time for another cheeky top up ?
