Sometimes just a bit odd and entitled. You do get some worthwhile perspectives here too, plus loads of baiting.
One of the solutions would of been rail freight distribution centers, increase the rail capacity for more freight urgently required, more tracks more freight trains are urgently needed throughout the country, to ease pressure on roads and have more localized distribution to speed up supply, too many dreamers and not enough thinkers in government, I don't get paid for my advice, they get paid for standing still, good night everyone sleep in peace,Lloyd's on a downward trend I don't see much to change this at present but live in hope dyor.
I'm fairly certain they all think liberals, communists and socialists are all the same. They don't quite realize we have been, broadly speaking, moving towards democratic socialist society for quite some time and they don't really understand what any of it means. They simply heard some right-wing idiot use it as a bogeyman term and now other right-wing idiots think it's an insult.
If they had a shred of brainpower behind their conviction they would realize communist, liberal and socialist are not interchangeable terms at all, but that would require educating one's self about people that aren't Tory voters...

"You are a typical socialist hypocrite"
Is that your idea of a constructive comment?
machiismo.
You are a typical socialist hypocrite, sell your shares, if you actually have any, and donate your money to a food bank.
In fact, there are as many wealthy socialists as capitalists in this world.
Basically every governmental and multi-national organisation that deals with food, energy, etc are all ringing the alarm bells. But it's okay, because the Tory voters are here to tell us everything is fine. If we just stick our head in the sand, it will all be over soon.

"There's no housing crisis, no one is starving, everything is fine, the poor don't exist.."
It's an attitude shared by a few here. (If I cant see it, then it doesn't exist).
I agree that no-one knows the future and there will be many things that occur that are unforeseen.
But denying the threat of impending famine and mass migration seems short sighted to me. We shouldn't let the things we cant do stop us from doing the things we can.
I love how skier1 just spews random B.S. facts with zero evidence at all with such conviction.
There's no housing crisis, no one is starving, everything is fine, the poor don't exist, Brexit is great, bla bla bla.
Fella is living in a complete alternate reality.

''You've no idea what is coming down the track.''
Nor does ANYONE.
Great increase in my stock portfolio today.

''Because of this crisis we are taking food from the hungry to give to the starving.''
so who are these hungry people who are having food taken away and what has it got to do with having to print money as part of the recovery from the GFC.
Global deaths by famine have declined -99% in the past half-century.
Worldwide food supply is very sophisticated, nowadays.
With luck, there will be zero famine by the 2030s.
Blimey theosus I've read a few of your posts lately ..they range from full global financial meltdown ,famine to a smallpox attack by Russia in what you describe as dark times ahead...I presume you've sold all stocks built a bunker bought 100k tins of corned beef and a chemical attack suit.....gl though...might not be as bad as you think..but things will ve challenging over the next year gl.
Interesting Biden considering easing tariffs on china that would cheer the markets i think

Skier show me please where the minimum wage has increased by 55% since 2010?
Skier1
Minimum wage workers are not all workers. What is the increase for everyone else.
T
''I hope you've stocked up on your supply ''
I am not selfish - no stocking up at all - I buy food on a weekly basis with whatever is available.

The current situation of supply caused by pandemic/war has nothing to do with the printing of money when it was a necessity in recovery from the GFT.
The current Inflationary pressures will have to be controlled with monetary and fiscal measures.
Next MPC meeting not too far away

''The price of energy has risen because we don't want to buy it from Russia or pay for it in their currency anything else is a lie.''
The UK is not reliant on Russia
Hello LTI,
We created the sanctions not Russia.
The price of energy has risen because we don't want to buy it from Russia or pay for it in their currency anything else is a lie.

''It sometimes feels that way to erode the debt,''
the sort of statement that may come from the same people who said that the government control the BOE and will not let them raise rates due to higher interest on government debt.
People cannot have it both ways
Huge UK LNG gas exports to mainland Europe are refilling European wholesale storage sites in H1, and the regional glut will bring down UK retail gas prices in H2. Centrica's efficient just-in-time UK storage policy is driving up UK exports and bringing down prices for consumers in the UK and also for our friends in the EU.
UK minimum wage for entry-level workers has soared +55% since 2010. UK inflation has gone up +30% since 2010. Wages have massively outpaced inflation for those who it helps the most.
Everyone has a roof over their head in the UK, housing costs by wage % are the same as last century, while the tick-up in house prices gives the UK economy a feelgood boost.
If Boris can start to bring down taxes just before the 2024 election, gently rightsize the bloated public sector, and tame inflation, the UK is set for a post-Brexit Goldilocks economy.

''M1 money supply...... As is every other Govt complicit in the QE scam''
Not a 'scam', it is what has been required following the GFC.
We have recently had supply side issues coming out of pandemic along with high energy costs, exacerbated by the war started by Russia which may also impact the ability of Ukraine to export it's harvest.
"claiming the Tories are responsible for soaring inflation"...
It sometimes feels that way to erode the debt, but in the short term until these prices fall out we end up paying more for the index linked gilts.
My hunch is they will go for windfall tax to reduce the energy cap in September thus lowering the inflation rate for this critical month and rip off pensioners again.
