Interesting to see what relevance or synergy there might be between ITV and bridgepoint.
Yes that could be her plan, but I feel sorry for the Orangutan...
Possibility part of her retirement plan?
She could get into bed with an Orangutan for all I care so long as it lifts the SP......bored to tears with it.
P
Maybe Carolyn McCall getting in bed with Bridgepoint may result in taking a stake in ITV?
Thanks Rock, yes I would agree regarding John Malone, he never over pays on any acquisition. I would like LG to either sell their near 10% stake or make a bid, I'm not too bothered at what price for now at least, I believe it would bring others to the party. JMO

Carolyn McCall becoming a non-exec director of a US Private Equity Company?
Correct?

I did think LG's original intention was to merge their VM with ITV.
But the world has changed a lot over the past 5 years.
It's now all about traditional Broadcaster consolidation.
LG are doing this in the US with the merger of Discovery with WB TV.
In theory ITV would now be better suited to the new Discovery/WB TV but I also believe LG realise in today's market they would need to pay a significant premium to ensure they were successful.
I believe ITV will get acquired soon but I am not sure it will be bought by LG.
LG never overpay and I can't remember them ever getting into a competitive bidding situation?
I hope this makes sense.
Let's see.
Hi Rock, I understand LG loaning out their ITV stock to GS to achieve a lower average share price. Mission accomplished. What other reason would LG have for holding on to its ITV shares other than to takeover ITV themselves, or do LG think that someone else will make a bid for ITV? I cannot think of any other reason why LG would continue holding. Do you have any other logical reason?
I respectfully disagree.
I think GS will stand back.
LG now have their 9.9% as real shares at a lower price after benefiting from both Brexit and Covid.
GS were employed by LG as we all know - So it’s job done.
Let’s see.
I am sure they will beat all estimates.
So with all the Sunday business news headlines about ITV today and its record breaking interim statement due this Wednesday I would have thought that this board would be inundated with all sorts of posts and differing opinions etc. !
Yes, I 'm joking ! Not a single article in any of the Sunday papers or on-line either, its a case of deja-vu as we witnessed this before the full year numbers back in March earlier this year, i.e GS are keeping quiet again !!
Cast your mind back to 2015 and after the Liberty/GS deal, it was like clockwork thereafter and before the ITV interims and the full year figures we had The Times newspaper, the Guardian, The telegraph et al all printing Sunday headlines about ITV and how advertising would take a hit due to Brexit !!!
Yes, we had the best part of five years of this nonsense in order for GS and Liberty to profit to the tune of around £10bn, i.e. short the ITV share price from around £2.82 to just 50p !!! And to disguise this blatant shorting operation, GS kept feeding everyone the Brexit story and its impact on ITV, for five years no less !!
Anyone from the outside looking in would have thought that ITV were on the verge of bankruptcy but the company were still paying dividends up to last years full figures and even at the end of 2020 the company still had around £660m in the bank !!!!
And in addition whilst many companies last year were going round to their shareholders with a begging bowl, it wasn't the case for ITV !
I just wanted to share this with you all from the full year numbers of 2016 to last year when we were all fed the Brexit narrative from GS and its impact on ITV and how supposedly ITV were on the verge of collapsing last Summer according to some (paid) media outlets !!!!
Income Statement 31 Dec '20 31 Dec '19 31 Dec '18 31 Dec '17 31 Dec '16
Revenue 2,781.00 3,308.00 3,211.00 3,130.00 3,064.00
Operating Profit 356.00 535.00 600.00 555.00 604.00
Does this look like a company about to go bust because of Brexit ????
So no more Brexit, that's ship has sailed but GS will no doubt feed the media the Covid-19 story again and how ITV production COULD be affected later on in the year regardless of how impressive the interim numbers will be and a record for ITV !
Last Monday's tree shake was a waste of time as we all witnessed, no panic sellers and quelle surprise the stock was slightly up on the week after all the Covid talk.
Standby team for yet more cloak and dagger game play this week, its going to be fun !!!!
