Would suit me just fine if Mascolo offloaded IRR in next 12 months. As you say, timing is critical and 4 years is a very long time in Ghanaian politics.
Necessity is the mother of invention and EVERY bubble bursts. Yes this is very true Acker, but we are a long way from even getting into real bubble territory. There are currently 225 giga factories and a tera factory planned, and they will all need lithium, regardless of how much goes for NCM or LFP cathodes, and also regardless of of a mix in battery cells with sodium ion, which in reality is 2-years away minimum, and is on the low end quality/low performance cathodes, mainly China. These all need feeding, and short term the chemical companies will be crying out for Spodumene, and as we know mines can take 5-7 years, and each battery factory needs roughly one mine to feed it annually 25-30,000 tonnes, so there is a massive deficit building for lithium, regardless of future technologies. It is all about TIMING, and IRR with a fully funded operation to production, probably the lowest cost quality spodumene in the world, with 99.92% purity, ARE IN THE BEST ZONE RIGHT NOW. This will be long gone, sold for mega bucks, well before any real disruptor technology takes hold, if it ever really does, as lithium is still the best option weight to power/performance. Don't forget also the recent SC6 price, £1250 Tonne was based on 5.5% spodumene, with IRR's being far superior to this in every way, who knows where we will be in the next 6 months. Dhan, keep scrabbling around for tit bits, but they can't get even near to the facts above, which makes IRR a world class lithium resource which will be highly prized by many OEM's/chemical producers.
Dhanteras--i know where you are coming from and agree.
The point is the world will always need lithium however there is a battlefield in the the green tech war.
The USA and EU are nervous about the predominant position held by China, any trade war could be disastrous for lithium supply
The environmental issues, the dirty little secret, surrounding mining.
Supply, demand, geopolitics, environmental issues--this is what is driving CATL to produce an alternative and why billions of investment is being poured into "home batteries" geothermal lithium extraction etc.
Lithium will remain a player just not as big as some suggest.
Necessity is the mother of invention and EVERY bubble bursts.
Acker
Yes but it’s a start. CATL is the biggest electric battery maker in the world. They’re not fools. Development is a process and they seem to be making progress with this technology. I’ve got plenty of shares here and elsewhere in the lithium space so this is not a welcome development
MikerClarke. Spot on. I’m also invested in Amte Power based in the Uk who are well down the line & have already produced sodium & lithium batteries for the markets you mention. Early days but predicting a big future.
Dhan, The only Danger for us is that you’re on school holidays and we have to look at your drivel. Your school report is in and it states you must try harder.
Dhan. You have missed important information out of your statement, which is not surprising really, IS IT? “The lower energy of the sodium-ion cells suggests that the technology may be more suited for stationary energy storage applications which are less restrictive, while the unveiling of battery packs combining both sodium-ion and lithium-ion cells could point towards compromise in performance for low-cost electric vehicles, with the potential to disrupt the mass market,” LOL
CATL has announced today it has produced a sodium ion battery. This was not expected for many more years. The rapid pace of tech. change is a big danger for us.
