I'd guess any interested party accessing the data room/carrying out DD have access to Vale's previous work on Vermelho, may prove sufficient .....though JM's comments re inbound interest to date would suggest they're not as yet assigning 'real 'value to the asset.....
Best get Vermelho prepped and ready for mid decade!
Seriously guys, this is like a tennis match where the ball has just been hit from the far side and it is going to take 3-5 years to get to us over the net. We (or rather Horizonte) have that amount of time to position the racket to hit the sweet spot for the winner. In our case that's to make Vermelho to produce 'whatever it is' that the battery market will demand in full swing - intermediate matte, or nickel/cobalt mix, or whatever. You have to figure out what it is then build it. I still think we've got 2-4 years to get it right but I do sense there will be urgency once Araguaia funding is done and dusted to progress Vermelho. 12-18mths DFS then rapid finance/JV then build. It could be producing a year or two behind A1.
1. Range is going up Gm, costs are projected downward ( from general motors)
GM projects that its second-generation Ultium batteries -- which will become available in the mid-2020s -- will have double the energy density of today's batteries and cost 60% less. That could get the company's EVs close to price parity with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
2. Fill up costs on electric are 1/3 of petrol
3. Low maintenance.
GM has objective to make ev the same cost as petrol, with much longer range.
I think things will change greatly by mid decade
Electric is the future but right now it costs 10 grand more for an electric corsa than the standard petrol version. Until the costs come down or the government pick up the tab we won’t switch over quickly.
Nickle will become more and more expensive so when Horizonte gets to the final stages the sp will be way higher than it is right now
I am sure a large number of people are in my situation. I am looking to change my car this Autumn and would like an EV but can't justify the cost and even if I could, the lack of chargers would put me off. A plug in hybrid seems to be the best compromise in terms of useability as most of my journeys would be out and back from home using electricity. However, the cost is still a deterrent with a PHEV.
Was,
I think there is place for hybrids still, buy expect more pure Electric to be bigger market.
I am sure total cost taxes and pricing on hyrbids and pure EV will play a part in one's choice
I'm also not seeing hybrid cars pushed. I think the manufacturers realise there is limited shelf life to the hybrid and pushing on straight to full EV? I don't follow the industry closely but if as a layperson that's what I'm seeing, then plenty considering the switch will be looking at the same options when talking to their dealers? Huge transformation coming in next few years that's for sure...
Interesting watching the Euros every second advert is for (electric) cars. So it becomes obvious why everything will switch - if you are big auto you really aren't spending your R&D right now on the next version of your petrol/diesel cars, you're probably catching up to stay in the game at all by developing your EV capability. And once all the innovation is in EV and Jo Public must buy new car and the only new models are electric and the Jones' already have one etc...
I think we're on the cusp, just really need to understand how infrastructure can keep up. One analyst I read suggests because EV charging is just so much simpler (than burying huge tanks of highly flammable fuel in the ground) it's a much easier problem to solve and eventually you'll just charge your cars when you go grocery shopping etc. If I was a supermarket chain right now I'd be figuring out how to capture market share in this? GLA
And Jeremy said our metal was likely to be Europe bound, surely a bit of interest in progressing Vermelho?

Sweden appears to have a comprehensive strategy towards EV adoption.

Not sure on the chemistry here but every little helps. I can't help but notice one of our ECAs is from Sweden and Northvolt is Swedish and Volvo is (or was?) Swedish. Hopefully they need clean energy nickel to go with their clean energy gigafactory.
