LOR, thanks for this. I have seen the film, though not recently.
Hi Imp. A bit further south(1000KMs) and you would be in the paradise that is Tenerife. I love the UK in the summer but spend my winters on that beautiful isle. I only have to look at a fridge and my fingers go blue and mainland Spain and France are too cold in the winter for me. Not too sure about jumping on a plane with 300 other peeps so may use some GGP stock to hire a private jet this winter. ATB Speedy

If you do get to La Rochelle be sure to visit the submarine pens featured in Das Boot!
Don't we all just love the weekends......lol
@Lazypunter, 1535. Thanks for the advice. West of La Rochelle would put me in the Bay of Biscay. Not waving, but drowning. My last words would be, "j'adore la mer." Adieu, mon ami.
Thanks LA/LP - I'll have a look at those sites. Wifey loves France (watches the 'Chateau' program a lot!!)
SomewhatGullible - if you are looking in the Dordogne area, Simply Perigord might be worth a look. Both English and French spoken. They are based in Le Bugue.

Dear SWG..One online site that many local agents use is called GreenAcres..its like Rightmove or Zoopla but better..if I pushed you into an area look at the South West..west of La Rochelle and NE of Bordeaux...Angouleme and east of there is truly magnificent..and 2 hours to Paris on high speed train..Just hope this helps.LP
FC1865..So very well done to you and I am delighted to hear you are loving it...Keep enjoying.LP
I wouldnt worry - Paddy has done a deal with Biden or Trump so whoever wins the election very soon - any GGP holders on LSE get to use Airforce One to get out to East Pilbara Shire
Cant fault his research or contacts nowadays - did offer Paddy my Lear (until he found out it was an old ragged copy of the Bards play) still too young to retire so my next 6 months profits are going to Alder Hey Hospital
Looking forward to the next few weeks for fun - not stress or needing to waffle :-)
Very happy for everyone with wine or beer (or Guinness inside)
Cheers
Sporty :-)
Hippy love all around today - maybe lots of vino being consumed -oh well all forgiven it is Sunday. ALB
I moved to France 18 months ago and we are loving every min of it, we are about 30 from Bordeaux.
Hi LP I too am interested in France but not sure whereabouts - would you have any suggestions for reputable online agents?
TIA
LA..thank you and congrats..we escaped a month ago and it is wonderful.ATB..LP
Dear Mushroomkid and Mrs..I loved your reply and if you both enjoy the pleasure of getting the keys to your new home in paradise it will be a day not to forget...I genuinely believe GGP is a once in several generations shareholding but it will in the end to each of us be a piece of paper with our names on and a figure translated to a £ value..nice to look at each day perhaps but you cannot sleep in it, cook in it and enjoy it with your friends and family....However, a small slice of GGP for us LTH can without spending a fortune bring great contentment and happiness but for me, as we open the shutters each day , the real joy is watching the face of my beautiful wife, as she opens our beautiful Country house to the world ..that is priceless, yet none of our 20 or so friends who we know in the district have spent more than £120,000 on their little bit of paradise...we all laugh in the local bar , as we think of all our hard working friends on the 9-5pm treadmill in the UK...They can all get up and make the change and if they have a relatively small holding in GGP, can buy their bit of paradise, be it France, Spain or Portugal..Enjoy Mr 7 Mrs mush, you are my kind of people and I cannot wait for you both to inform us when you have the keys and the life changing hours thereafter for you to enjoy.LP
Tigg..I bloody love you...I agree with all that you say, as it would be a blast for all us GGP guys to have more fun on the ground..in Aus..as we know we are mostly all of the same mind set..I am with you all the way to Aus..LP
Have to agree lazy . Been in this for years and sitting on hands indefinitely is all good and well however taking a good top slice in December is an option .
Lazypunter. I have just come back from a lovely and ridiculous 'over the top' Sunday lunch with again ridiculous quantities of vinho tinto to accompany. I have just read out your post to Lady Mush and we feel quite overwhelmed. What an warm-hearted thing to write. I am no expert in this share but I have gone from having nothing spare in March, to speak of, to having this wonderful opportunity to live in this friendly and welcoming country. France is equally beautiful and has it's own unique flavour.
When we complete on the house purchase. When we open the front door with our own key I am sure I will burst into tears.
Thank you.
@ Lazypunter- Agree. There are plenty of Boeing 747's for hire to take a load of LSE's to Telfer
Once we have had 40 million ounces confirmed, we should ask GGP / NCM to have the Telfer runway lengthened, put in a few more residential cabins, extend the bar area , and we can be on our way , - FIFO - here we come.

13.11 Lazypunter - anonymity, ah yes good point. My user name gives my French holiday home location away. Ah well never mind - but have missed not being able to get down there this year. Have fun in "Central France".
Dear Mushroomkid...I enjoy reading all your posts as well as those from Hydro,Bamps & Paddy..But like you I was a Stroudie until I got divorced.. We all hope to make a good few quid out of GGP but some of us have a price when we can invest some of our profits in other assets to enjoy the fruits of our endeavours..You in my view are doing the right thing in investing in a country house in a beautiful spot in beautiful Portugal...we all only have one life and if we all held every GGP share forever, we would lead a duller life..I have invested some of my profits in a stunning country house in central France and the happiness it has brought me and my wife is beyond words ..I have read of UK guys here who are living in rented property because they believe after the stamp duty holiday , property prices will fall..I have been a property investor since 1987 and have a portfolio that provides me with a residual income , so large, I do not need to work..but I do work in my French home using the internet..With interest rates so low property prices will continue to rise and so will the price of gold..as Hydrogen showed with Pierre interview yesterday ..so if you are reading this and live in rented property good on you but with your profits from GGP you should in my humble view be investing in property in the UK and at the same time more should do what you are doing in Portugal..you are smarter than most as you and Mrs Mush already are finding out...you kindly told us where you are buying which is kind of you but the rise of GGP could lead to a boom in Aqua Bellas in Portugal....All our friends where we live in France no longer tell anyone where we are for fear of too many Brits coming here, as property is about 15% of the price of a nice part of the UK.....we love France as much as we love GGP but the french countryside is like no other and believe me I have seen a lot of the world.>Aussies are becoming big buyers in Central France as are Belgians..because with the virus they know where paradise is...Thanks again for all your common sense posts, I would love to meet you in Portugal when we are next in the area..we visited Vidago 3 years ago an dyou have to see it to believe it...I will hold my GGP for a long time but eventually I want to form a group where we all fly to W Australia to see our GOLd mines in operation ..I feel sure callum and GH will be happy to give us a tour for a fair price.>ATB..LP
