Silver is still >26.3 and gold at 1785 yet FRES is on the cusp of plummeting below 890...Wow.
G,
I never trade on the basis that the SP will reduce according to the dividend -particularly on PMs. I'm still in good profit here and will add more as this is a long term hold for me.
We have been getting stuffed for months when compared to PM prices.
J
The divi is 17p and the SP down 33..what do you mean divi less significant
We are being stuffed right now my freind ?
I truly hope so. Thinking Mexican covid issues.
No surprise today, that is so difficult to buy at this artificially lowered evaluation
Depending on the changing PM prices - then the dividend factor should become less significant. This should finish green today
yes agreed.
Of all the days for the company to stuff it up it was today.
Silver holding on well should have see the 950 markup imo .
MMs having a laugh unless there is something out there.
For me this is a lon term hold, it look like I should have waited for my addition today but in the scheme of things I am still in the money and will hold til the fat lady sings at a much higher price than today.
Mary we are saying the same thing (I think) but perhaps my use of symbol '-' confuses things, I intended it as a substitute for 'minus'. So, ex div date (today) = record date (tomorrow) minus 1 day. FRES is getting beaten down now because any new shareholder who buys today is NOT eligible for the dividend thus it should fall roughly in proportion to the dividend.
No it gets beaten down on the ex div date - ie today. You are confusing the record date again (that is tomorrow)
It probably will get beaten down again on the record date too such as it trades :)

Carvegyber not Cyber - too much food down my keyboard
Thanks for the clarification, I suppose then logically FRES will get beaten down record date - 1 early on but then rise later in the session.
Cyber you are incorrect (no offence)
You need to hold post close the day before ex div.
There is a good illustration in the investopedia link.
Carvegyber
Purely for administation and dovetailing witht the T+2 trades.
Operates on T+2
In this case if you held after close Wed you are entitled to the dividend on the ex rate Thurs.
Read the investopedia link below.
i hope this has been helpful.

NOT ADVICE
You need to hold on the record date to be paid the dividend. So the question is, who is selling today? I never understood why the record date and the ex date is not the same.
Mary you say always close Wednesday? If one is not a shareholder by close on record date - 2 (Wednesday) then you're not entitled to the dividend surely?
Let's go fishing.
All stupid - market makers are no fools.
well LSE now seems to have caught up with itself and is again displaying more sensible numbers for the SP
Hope this helps
Let's be crystal clear here.
Stock is marked ex div on a Thursday.
The record date is always the next day, ie the Friday.
These are the last record dates which allex div on the day before , Thursday.

We hit 949p - then the drop..
where exactly does LSE get its share prices from? - something truly bizzare going on with mid, bid and ask that bares no resemblance to what any other site is reporting for FRES
Gave up such confusion. HL tell me ex div today. Nothing has changed. Topped up.
Insane, what was all about, after all ?
