Lucando, I'm not a trader, I'm just a retired old bloke that has a few investments that will hopefully make me some money to fund a few holidays then eventually pass down to my kids when my time is up. I invest based on the potential future performance of a company. I have invested in EUA because of the potential future sale that should be at a value well in excess of the SP I invested at. If a few people decide to short EUA while I'm invested, good for them. Having seen the SP slide from 30p to 7p in the time I've been watching EUA, the shorters have probably made more money than those that haven't shorted. If it annoys you that the shorters are making profits, maybe you shouldn't invest in a company with a declining share price.
Im not being condescending when i say this, but if you are getting into share trading you may need to read up on it a bit before using any money.
Lucando, I've seen lots of people mention 'taking profits' from their investments which involves the selling of shares and increasing the amount of shares available. So I still struggle to really understand the difference. Shares are bought and sold in every single stock, every single the market is open. Does it really matter if it's for a short or not?
FYI, I'm not a shorter and wouldn't have the slightest clue how to short a share.
Lucando, missed out the bit about buying them back. In a panic as likely happen called a "short squeeze" and leads to rapid movement upwards of SP most times
Shorting, also called short selling, is a way to bet against a stock. It involves borrowing and selling shares, then buying them back later at a lower price and returning them while pocketing the difference. If the stock goes down, the trader makes a profit, but there are several major risks involved.
Its up 9%?
Shorting involves the selling of shares borrowed. This selling increasing the amount of shares available and therefore depresses the share price
Can someone please explain to me how someone else opening a short position has any effect on any investment you might hold in EUA? People seem to get so upset about it but I just don't get it. You're basically betting on the SP going up and they're betting on it going down. Is it not the same as one person placing a bet on Man City to win the title and someone else betting on Liverpool to win it? They may have opposing bets but neither of them are actually influencing what the end result is ultimately going to be.

Afternoon,
Before the war situation- there was a general increase to 22 million which coincided with stock owned , as that rose so did the loaned stock so you could say that % is hedging
Obviously since the war an increase in hedging as risk has risen
however a % of the shorts are certainly greedy grubby groups after some bad news to make money on the war narrative- # sad Barstewards & fuelled by Bots on deck
Rums all Round
Toon, Tigra , Mac , Clark & all
Toon - point taken , however the greedy dipsticks responsible probably don’t get the humour
Tigra , Mac - mixture of hedging on longs & greedy shorting on the war narrative hence the full platoon of nibbling bots on deck desperate for a lower close & perhaps associated to a toxic trading group like JUB mk2
Rums all Round
Thats a shame hey ho better than being suspended any longer
Based on the lack of volume so far today. It looks as though what I hoped would be a rush to the door from shorts is not currently happening. Unless there's a load of trades going through in the background that we aren't yet seeing, it appears institutions are happy to keep their shorts open.
It's definitely BAU here.
Tilly you need to be careful with your ‘Aim = corruption’ comment....
The next few trading sessions should be able to tell if the spurious suspension was a threat/signal to shorts that sales news is coming?
No wonder they've been in full panic mode lol
I think gas mark 5 is heading their way in the not so distant future.

Afternoon all
Current stock on loan/ shorts
47.8 million- increased a huge 9.8 million on Friday / today
( I noted yesterday those huge 2 million + trades last week were suspect , if you were sceptical you could say the whiff of suspension & RNS was known in toxic trading zones & large shorts opened on the hope of bad news or sanctions, however not the case )
& if you were even more sceptical all these negative posters that have infested the board since Friday are somehow linked to this shorting action - certainly plenty of old negative posters loitering & new crazy cooters on deck .
47.8 million on loan - highest ever & matches the veles shenanigans
Cost to borrow - 12.4 - highest ever
Days to cover - 1
Utilization- 75% - very high
Aim = corruption - an orgy of brown envelopes at the urinals before incoming .
Let’s all hope all invested get another RNS update on the current potential asset sale & no harm from sanctions & Napalm the shorts , fancy trying to fleece investors on the war narrative & spend all day waffled hornswaggle on a investor forum .
